See which Google TLD organic traffic is coming from in GA
-
Hi all,
I'm working with a client that is marketing to English speaking ex-pats in Thailand. I have a suspicion that many of these ex-pats are searching through google.com (or .co.uk) instead of google.co.th.
In Google Analytics (or any other tracking tool), is there a way to see which country-specific Google domain organic searches are coming from?
Thanks,
Tim

Thanks! This looks like it should do the trick!

Thanks for the response, but I'm not sure that will work in my situation. The country will show up as Thailand no matter if the visitor used google.com or google.co.th. Maybe I'm doing a bad job of explaining my situation.
Let's say we have two visitors, both located in Thailand:
Visitor 1 - searches on google.com for "beer delivery bangkok"
Visitor 2 - searches on google.co.th for "beer delivery bangkok"
Both would appear in GA with country = thailand, source = google, keyword = beer delivery bangkok. I want to be able to see that one came from google.com and the other from google.co.th.

AndieF has certainly given you the easiest method there, and the one i would recommend myself. However if you do want the actual URL then you could use advanced filters.
This resource by Santa J Achille shows some pretty cool tricks you can use to get not only the Top Level Domain but also the Keyword and Campaign to show in analytics. I've used it before and found some useful insights. Just a note in the copy and paste code section there is a missing \ before the first question mark in the second referral field, so just add it in or analytics will tell you its an invalid regular expression.
If you like the look of this or fancy making a few of your own / editing it, there are also some very useful guides on how to use regular expressions from Moz and my personal favourite from Luna Metrics.
One more thing to note, if you do decide to implement this filter make sure you do it under a new profile.

Sure can! Well.. the country in which people search in, but that's probably a good indication.
- Go to Traffic Sources > Search > Overview
- Change the "Primary Dimension" to "Source"
- Change the "Secondary Dimension" to "Visitors > Country / Territory"
Should all be good. To just see organic searches, do the same but with "Traffic Sources > Search > Organic" instead.

Google Analytics - Organic Search Traffic & Queries -What caused the huge difference?
Our website traffic dropped a little bit during the last month, but it's getting better now, almost the same with previous period. But our conversion rate dropped by 50% for the last three weeks. What could cause this huge drop in conversion rate? In Google Analytics, I compared the Organic Search Traffic with previous period, the result is similar. But the Search Engine Optimization ->Queries shows that the clicks for last month is almost zero. What could be the cause of this huge differnce? e9sJNwD.png k4M8Fa5.png

Google Analytics to sub domains
Hi, I have a site xyz.com and two separate sites on sub domains xyz.com/abc and xyz.com/def. What's the best way to go about with GA such that I can get all the data in the same place. Should I use the GA code for xyz.com on sub domains as well? Or should I create separate profiles?

Subdomain tracking in GA
Hi Moz community. Wonder if you could help us out with a baffling Analytics issue. Are there any reasons why the _setDomainName() function in Google Analytics wouldn't track across subdomains correctly? We have been seeing visits to a subdomain come up as referral traffic, even after implementing the right tracking code. Would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

Google penalty
Hi, I've seen a steady improvement in my google search referrals since optimising my site and keeping an eye on SEO over the last few months. I'm only getting relatively small numbers of referrals, around 120-130 a day, but this has steadily increased from about 40 before Christmas. It's been a fairly consistent increase until 4 days ago when suddenly my referral numbers were cut in half. I'd be surprised if google was penalising me since I'm such a small site, but are there any obvious signs I should look out for? Oh, and my site is www.madegood.org should that be of help. Thanks! Will

Google Analytics question
Hi, I recently relaunched my site on a wordpress CMS. The relaunch has gone well except for a category of traffic within Google Analytics which is referral traffic from google.co.uk (its a UK site) which has dropped off hugely. The non-paid search traffic from google.co.uk is the same or better than it was. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between referral traffic from google.co.uk and non-paid search traffic from google.co.uk. Thanks for your help. Ben
