Using a stop word when optimizing pages
-
I have a page (for a spa) I am trying to fully optimize and, using AdWords have run every conceivable configuration (using Exact Match) to ascertain the optimal phrase to use. Unfortunately, the term which has come up as the 'best' phrase is "spas in XXX" [xxx represents a location].
When reviewing the data, phrases such as "spas XXX" or "spa XXX" doesn't give me an appropriate search volume to warrant optimizing.
So, with that said, do I optimize the page without the word "in", and 'hope' we get the search volume for searches using the word "in", or optimize using the stop word?
Any thoughts?
Thank you!

The assumption it appears some are making is that a search for Spas in Key West only returns pages with Spas in Key West as the "optimized term" which is not true. If your traffic for the query is such that Spas "in" (each specific location) is higher, use in. Typically, that is not the query. Typically the way searches search in the broader sense is to alleviate that connector. If your research shows more for utilizing "in" , I would use it.
Hope that clarifies.
Good luck.

My dilemma, however, is when using your example of 'Spas [location]' or '[location] Spas', the search volume figures I'm receiving are extremely low. Search volume figures I'm receiving for 'Spas in [location]' are significantly higher.
So, would the recommendation be to use 'Spas [location]' then? Not trying sound stupid here, but would really like to fully optimize the site to attract the most traffic as possible...
Thank you!

AA in Florida,
I would not use the connector "in" for optimization. The reason being is the query utilizing "in" is rarely made. So, when optimizing for Spas Florida, you say Florida Spas ( don't worry about someone searching for Spas Florida; they will see you).
If the product is a Spa, and you are using a geo location term with it, no matter what the traffic is, you need to optimize for it: that is the business you or your client is in.Hope that helps,
Robert

I would optimize using the stop word as it has the volume, plus use of the phrase "spas in $location" is more natural sounding vs "keyword optimizationish". We actually use "$product in $city" in our title tags and rank really well for "$product $city" searches.

Indexed Pages Increase and Major Drop June 25th and July 16th?
I am seeing information regarding a possible Google algorithm that may have taken place on June 25th...and seeing total number of pages indexed in GSC increase (cool!)...BUT, then on July 16, I'm seeing a consistent drop (BIG DROP) of pages indexed - not only on our site, but several. Does anyone have any insight into this or experiencing the same issue?

Search Console - Average position vs Page Views
Hello, I would like to find out relation between Average position and Views, one of our sites have strange activity.Average position going up but Views going down in Google Webmaster tools. I mention exactly views to be more specific because clicks could fluctuate due to CTR but views should stay the same. Anyone can describe what could going on ? I notice on other sites that on some days when Average Position drops 50% less than normal views going up on some day, but overall I can not see any relation ship between Average Position and Views.

Any benefit to splitting up links from one company to diff pages?
We are the presenting sponsor for this big event in our area (Chasco Fiesta). As part of being their sponsor, their website has linked to us in five different places on their site. But it's all to our homepage. Would there be any benefit to having them link to other pages on our site instead of just our homepage (assuming the other pages are a reasonable expectation for the user, of course)? Thanks, Ruben

Ranking dropped with no page changes
My rank for a keyword went from ranking #1 to #22. The page grade for this keyword is A, there was no site structure changes. The only thing I can see is that tumblr and reddit and other sources are now listed for this keyword and it's difficulty went from the mid-low teens to 28%. However, even given that, I do not a see a reason for this keyword alone to fall so far. It was giving us a ton of traffic, in fact, most of our organic search results came from this term for nearly two months. And 2 weeks ago for no reason, we were pushed to page 3. Has anyone else had similar experiences how do you counter it, and what can we do?

Drop in Page Indexing, Small rise in Search Queries
Hello, I have a news based website so i am creating multiple new posts daily. I changed a lot of the site and got rid of old potentially duplicate content back in feb and had a sharp drop in pages indexed. I know this was because I removed a lot of pages though. However I still have a good 20,000 + pages on my site and my indexing has dropped a further three times since then. From 9,000 to 2,000 a coupe of months ago and then slowly down since April to just 133. It doesn't seem to have affected my search queries yet but surely will if it continues. I am really confused as to how this might happen & how to turn it around. We dont use any dodgy SEO tricks either.

Help on Page Load Time
I'm trying to track page load time of the visits on my site and GA only says to me that it's equal to zero and page load sample is aways zero too. I've made a research, and I found that GA is used to track page load time automatically, isn't it?

Hello to everybody, We'are thinking about launching a massive amount of satellite websites in order to promote our website. Is it really efficient in terms of link building? Or is the ROI really small due to the amount of time and money needed to create and manage these websites? Thanks a lot!!! Update: Thanks to all of you for all these interesting answers!
