How to content marketing: Should my blog posts link to my sales page?
-
Hi,
I've been doing a weekly blog making sure that each blog post contains my money keywords in the text, sometimes in h2 tags etc. My blog posts never contain any links to my actual sales page.
Should I link each blog post to my sale page or is it overdoing it? Will internal linking of all my blog posts to my sales page will improve its page authority or have any SEO benefits? What about using exact match anchor text on these internal links?
I couldn't find any resource online about this matter. Thank you for your opinion and help!

It's to be expected that some of your blog posts will have a hook to whatever your selling. Every single post might be overdoing it slightly, but certainly some would be a good idea. Not just for sales, but also for SEO.
If one of your blog posts becomes very popular, as in it earns external links and social signals, it will become a strong page on your site. If you link your strong pages to your key landing pages, some of the SEO strength will pass through. Furthermore, your internal links can use a lot more exact match anchor text than external links, so feel free to link to those pages with the keywords you want to rank for. Again, don't use exact match every time, but you can use it much more often than with external links.
Hope this helps.

It depends on how you link your blog posts to your sales pages. If you place a link to your sales page under every post, in the form of a sales pitch, readers will likely ignore it. However, if you write a blog post in relation to one of your products, and embed a text link within your post seamlessly, it is more likely that interested readers will click on the link to visit your sales page.
It would also help to include a link to your sales page in your sidebar, so that readers are aware that it is a company blog. Readers will therefore have greater confidence in purchasing your products if your blog posts are authoritative and helpful.

Maybe linking each blog post might be overdoing it. But link to your sales pages where it makes sense, i.e. where you specifically talk about the products/services you sell. Don't overoptimize your anchor text though. But smart internal linking can indeed improve authority of your linked-to pages.

Keyword cannibalization or linking structure?
Hi all, Recently I got an answer from this community about "why our login page is ranking but not my homepage for primary keyword"? Possibilities are keyword cannibalization or linking structure. In our case, our homepage is not ranking for "primary keyword" but ranking for other keywords. If it is linking structure, what might be wrong? Like do we need to unlink login page from many internal links? Thanks

Schema Mark up - Product Listing Pages
Hi I know you can add product schema to a product page, but can you add mark up to a product listing/category page? If so, which one would you use? I saw the item list mark up but didn't think this was relevant. Thank you

Page Rank Metrics Disapearing
Hi Everyone. I keep hearing from different people that googles PAGE RANK , Will soon be eliminated. Has anyone heard anything more about this ? Or is this a myth? This would make it more complex for the average person to rely on DA and TF etc.. Would love to hear from you guys. I actually like the PR rating system. Also have websites more then a year old which are still not showing actual PR yet .Maybe delayed or maybe not. Robert

Page 2 to page 1
I've found a lot of times it does not take much activity to get a keyword from ranking on page 3 of Google or further down to page 2 but there seems to be a hurdle from page 2 to page 1. It is very frustrating to be between 11 and 15 but not being able to make that push to 9 or 10. Has anyone got or seen any data to justifiy this?

Rankings fluctuating by around 10 pages between night and day
Hi all, I'm experiencing something very odd with my website ranking at the moment. My homepage is fluctuating in rank for my main keyword by 10 pages every day and night. So, during the day i am on page 14, 15 or 16 for my main keyword yet by night i am on page 5 or 6. This trend has continued for the past 7 days now and i can't quite understand why this is. I'm using pagewash dot net to carry out manual searches and a ranking tool - both of which produce exactly the same result. Does anyone have any experience of this or why this is happening? My domain is around 8 years old and has around 50,000 pages. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Why would my product pages no longer be indexed in Google?
Our UK site has 72 pages in our sitemap. 30 of them are product pages which take a productid parameter. Prior to 1st Feb 2011, all pages were indexed in Google but since then all of our product pages seem to have dropped from the index? If I check in webmaster tools, I can see that we have submitted 72 pages and 42 are indexed. I realise we should have some better url structuring and I'm working on that but do you have any ideas on how we can get our product poages back into googles index http://www.ebacdirect.com

Link analysis task
Hi mozzers, I am currently working on a phd, and one of the professors asked me for help. He would like to know how many Danish school websites (n=1500) links to a certain section of a government website (the relevant section has around 1600 pages). The problem is, that the government website is coded very poorly from an seo perspective with lots of strange URL variables, entailing OSE can't give valid data. So, what would be the best way to check how many of the school websites link? Throw all 1500 website through Xenu, or is there a smarter solution? Maybe the link out feature on Bing? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciate. Thanks!
