Getting A Duplicate Listing Removed
-
I just found a duplicate listing for our business. It's under a different name and address but the phone number is the same. The duplicate listing needs to be deleted, BUT, here's the problem: no one verified the listing (it was our old firm). And now, to delete it, we have to verify it first, but we don't have access to the building to get the letter. Also, we can't ask the current tenants to give us the letter, because it's another law firm and they just aren't going to help us out.
So, any ideas?

Yes, that definitely helps! And, I just checked back on the "tampa car accident lawyer" vs "tampa car accident attorney" question I asked you a few weeks ago. I posted on the original thread, but the local pack is now showing up for both terms.
Thanks again,
Ruben

Hi Ruben,
Thanks for the screenshot! Okay, so GetListed.org has been able to surface this as a possible duplicate because of the identical phone number. What you need to do is:
-
Go to this troubleshooter: https://support.google.com/places/
-
Click the red 'contact us' button
-
Choose 'my listing has incorrect information'
-
Choose the option mentioning duplicates
-
Then provide all of the information regarding the correct Google+ Local page and the duplicate one, being as clear as possible.
-
In addition to this, you need to find any other instances on the web where your phone number is connected to this other business name and/or address and have them edited or removed. If you skip this step, Google will continue to find information about your business that is incorrect and will not have sufficient trust in the good information. Given the spammy title of one of the listings shown in your screenshot (the keyword stuffed one), you may already have some trust issues with Google, so the road ahead may be a little long. Citation cleanup will be an important part of improving things.
-
If, after reporting the duplicate via the troubleshooter and cleaning up your citations, you continue to see that there is a duplicate listing (I'd give it at least 4 weeks) then I would post your issues in the Google And Your Business Forum at http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/business, giving a full description of exactly what you've done and when you've done it. To that end, I recommend you keep a personal log of the actions you take so that you can track your progress and report your efforts to Google, if needed.
Hope this helps!

Hi Miriam,
Sorry I didn't get back sooner, I was out of the office. I'm attaching a screenshot of exactly what I saw on getlisted.org.
Thanks,
Ruben

Hi Ruben,
I'd like to make sure I'm understanding what you are describing. Are you saying that you found a duplicate Google+ Local listing or a listing location on some other directory, such as Yellow Pages or Best of the Web or something like that. I want to be sure to offer the best possible advice.
-
Well if its not a false Google Places listing you don't really need to call Google. You have to go through the contact page of the website that the citation is listed on. It's sometimes a bit of a journey but in the end every wrong citation hurts.
-
It's not a site. It's just a listing. I found it when I ran it through "getlisted.org" What branch of Google did you call?
Thanks,
Ruben

Is this listing on Google or a third-party site? Either way you have to contact the site owner. I have contacted Google before and had a rep help me delete a false listing.

Video page duplicates (that aren't really duplicates)
Hi. My company has a 1000 videos, each of the videos appear on their own page that follows the same template. The title is of course different / videos linked to / etc. Google is reporting them as "duplicate content". What should I do to differentiate these pages enough so that google can recognized that they are different pages?.

How do I increase my client's Google Local listings?
Hi Guys, I have a hypothetical question for you. Let's say I live in a town that has two pizza places and in the maps section of a Google SERP the other place outranks my client when I type in "Pizza Place Smalltown NY." What would be a list of things that I could do to make "Pizza Place Smalltown, NY" rank better in that portion? Thanks!

Can you get rich snippets for Youtube hosted videos?
My website has several videos, mostly product reviews and tutorials. I'd like for these videos to show in the SERPs with rich snippets, but I am hosting them through Youtube. What is your experience with Youtube hosted videos? Do they generate rich snippets? Or will Google always rank the Youtube video over your web page?

Can SEO companies be listed on Google Local, Bing Local, and Yahoo Local?
Can anyone confirm if SEO companies can be listed in the local results for Google, Yahoo, and Bing? I'm asking because when you search for most local terms, it will return their local listings. However, that doesn't appear to be the case when searching for SEO or marketing services - or at least none show up when searching from Houston and I'm pretty sure we have quite a few SEO companies here 😉

How do you know if you are listed in google+ local?
OK This Google+ local and Google places merge is confusing. My first question is how do you know if your company is listed in Google+ local? I've done a search in Google Plus (logged in with another gmail account) but couldn't find my company on the results. Second question is that I am also not able to be found in maps.google.com, is this related? Thanks

Google Place pages and regular listings in search results
I'm trying to clarify something about search results which contain local listings. Here is the search string for Google that will give you the same results that I am seeing - http://www.google.co.uk/search?&q=letting agents glasgow&pws=0 Of the results that are returned, some of them have data which seems to be related to their Google Place page but the "title" links directly to their website. What I wanted to know is, "Is it their actual website that has given them those rankings" or "Are they listed where they are because of a well optimized and ranked Places page?

Can different phone numbers affect your google places listing?
If you use a non-landline number e.g 0330 or 0845 etc does this affect your position within google places? Is it better to use a local number e.g 0208 (uk) And if you use a local number for your google places account but have a different number on your website will this have a negative effect?
