Enable Demographics and Interests reports using analytics.js
-
Hi,
I may be going mad, but i can't find the code to activate demographics and interest reports if you are using the new analytics code. I can only find the code adjust for the old code.
Any one know where to find this?
Thanks
Paul

Hi David
Thanks for your response, much appreciated.
My query was does tag manager replace all other code or does it go in as well?
I'll explain more.
I have this code from analytics put in the site:
-
Hi Paul,
Okay, maybe we can take this one step at a time. Have you substituted your ga.js code for the new doubleclick.js?
There's one line in the Javascript that looks like this: ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://' : 'http://') + 'stats.g.doubleclick.net/dc.js';
Okay, so if that's all done, head to your GA account.
- Select the profile you wish you enable demographics reports, and click on Admin (top right)
- In the middle column, click profile settings
- Enable demographics reports, and wait a day or two for data to flow in.
I see you might be using Tag manager, if so read this:
"Please note that if you use Google Tag Manager, you should select "Add Display Advertiser Support" in your Google Analytics tag template; and if you are using a 3rd party tag management tool Google Analytics might not be able to validate your code, but you should be able to skip validation and the reports will work." - Source http://online-behavior.com/analytics/demographics

After doing more research, it appears 'Tag Manager' replaces adwords and analytics code old or new.
Can anyone comfirm this is the correct way to go about this, as it doesn't seem obvious from the google documentation.
i.e. why do google promotoe a new analytics code rather than push people towards tag manager is it does everything?

Using Canonicals on category or link pages
Hey, If a site has category or tag pages showing in search results for a particular keyword - sometimes higher than the page you would like to rank - could using canonical redirects on categories and tags be a solution? Thanks

Hour of the day that my analytics goals are being triggered within the all traffic report.
I am trying to identify the hour of the day that particular keywords (organic and PPC) are triggering my goals. Ideally I'd like to be able to use the all traffic report with the secondary dimension set as keyword. Hopefully I'm missing something simple, thanks all. Mark

Google Analytics and DNS change
Our new alumni application is going be tested at domain uva.imodules.com . We are going to collect traffic data with a Google analytics account number UA-884652-XX. So going to uva.imodules.com/myPage.html would send its data to Google Analytics with that account number. Then when it is ready for production we are going to just change the domain name of the application and switch the DNS over to dardencommunity.darden.virginia.edu . So going to dardencommunity.darden.virginia.edu /myPage.html would send its data to Google Analtics with that SAME account number. Aside from having the testing domain data in the same profile are there any other issues/problems we may run into?

Goal tracking in Google Analytics
Hi folks I read from various sources that if you setup goals in Google Analytics each of these goals can only be fulfilled once per visit. Also some sources suggesting that only one goal from each goal group can be fulfilled per visit. On our site we have a goal for external links since this provides value to partners. Some users do open an external link in a new tab, then come back to the main site. Any further goal completions would then not get tracked. Since we apply a result based payment model for our work this means we are literally loosing money. Anyone has official info from Google on this? Can it be configured? How long is a visit? Thanks a million and have a great day. Fredrik

Increase in 'Googlebot-Image' visits in analytics
Hi, I noticed a substantial increase in 'Googlebot-Image' visits data under Technology>Browser & OS in Google analytics for a few clients. Is this a bug? Are there any known fixes apart from just adding a filter to exclude the data? Regards Niladri

Impressions in Google Analytics
I am trying to compare SERP impressions in Google Analtyics between two different time periods. I want to compare the last two months, with the previous two months. Now this works fine when I go to Traffic Sources > SEO > Queries. Our analytics has been set up since early last year, so I cannot understand why, for a couple of weeks at the start of the previous two months, it is showing that I have less than 10 impressions per day, then in one day, it jumps to 22,000 impressions, and starts to show 'real' information after that... Very frustrating when I am trying to show how effective my work has been. Can anyone shed any light on this?
