Not many pages being indexed on google
-
Hi
I am putting in to Google:
site:www.mysite.com
to see the pages listed on Google - the figure Google is coming back with is much lower than the actual pages, I have no crawer warning etc...
What could the problem be?
Thanks

PM me a link and I'll take a better look.

The problem is the sub pages...It is a portal which lists property by country/city/area.
We are listing for www.xxxx.com/uk/ and www.xxxx.com/usa etc etc...
However, when we drill down to .com/uk/5-bed-shropshire-property etc...here is where the problem is, Google is going so far then not indexing the database driven pages with actual unique listing on - although all the upper pages are fine...
-
Lots of possible things at play here - hard to say without more info.
-
New site hasn't been crawled yet?
-
Duplicate content across multiple pages?
-
Duplicate content across your site and other sites.
-
Noindex, nofollow.
-
Blocked in robots.
Again, lots of reasons...

Drop in google.com / referral trafic
Hi, On one of our sites (after the release of a new version, including redirections), we've seen a drop in referral trafic from google.fr (france). I know that this trafic usually comes from Google Images but it doesnt seem to be the case this time. The referal path is "/" and not "imgres" as it usually is when it comes from google images. The search trafic hasnt dropped tough... The site is a job listing site. We also saw a drop from indeed.com, I guess their crawler got lost in our new site... Any idea on the possible google site it could come from? Thank you,

Google Analytics - my continuing adventures
Hello I'd appreciate views of the various metrics I'm struggling with in GA: I've run 2 different reports that provide 2 different outputs. 1. In Standard Reporting you can report in Traffic Sources on Organic Search by Keyword, which returns the number of Visits. 2. In Custom Reporting you can define the Keyword dimension and the Organic Searches metric, which returns the number of Organic Searches. This returns 2 different numbers. For example, over the last month for a given term report 1 returns 77,306 visits whilst report 2 returns 52,589 organic searches. I have found some definitions: "Visits represent the number of individual sessions initiated by all the visitors to your site." "Organic Searches: number of organic searches that happened within a session. This metric is search engine agnostic." My understanding of these definitions is that report 2 should return a larger value than report 1 rather than what is happening (i.e. report 1 returns a greater value than report 2). Does anyone have a greater understanding of what these mean and relate to? Does anyone have any views on which metric is more useful? Thanks Neil

Is 10 Keyword Targets for Page Rank too many?
My client has selected 10 keywords that they want to rank on the first page of Google for. Is 10 keywords too many to try and rank for? I have heard that you should focus on top 5 keywords instead.
