Should you include keywords in your domain name to rank well on Google Places?

Is it okay to include keywords in your domain name (as well as business name) to rank well on Google Places?
In my opinion, this is very spammy and the sites using this technique will be slapped by Google sooner or later.

Hi TheGoatMan,
This is an interesting topic. My guess is that you're asking this question because you know about the EMD penalty of recent times. Curiously, this penalty did not appear to affect local business rankings as much as virtual business rankings. That being said, the EMD penalty did indicate to all business owners that Google is not a fan of optimized website URLs being coupled with low quality websites.
If you are just starting a new business, choosing to name it with your service/geo keywords in mind is a smart idea. So, instead of being The Back Relief Doctor, your might name your business Boston Chiropractic Center (provided that doesn't already exist, or course). Thus, your domain name could be bostonchirorpacticcenter.com and both your business name and URL would be an authentic representation of your business.
If, however, your business already exists, it wouldn't be my first choice to go with an EMD domain that doesn't reflect your business. I'd rather have The Back Relief Doctor reside on backreliefdr.com than on mybostonchiro.com, simply because I feel that all of Google's moves in recent years have been towards authenticity. You'll find differing opinions on this, but this is mine
What you must not do, of course, is to misrepresent your business name anywhere by adding keywords to it. Use your legal business name or DBA at all times - on the website, building citations, social media, etc.
Finally, there is the option of re-branding a business, if you feel there would be significant benefits in renaming The Back Relief Doctor 'Boston Chiropractic Center'. However, this is not a choice to be made lightly, as re-branding of a local business requires a massive citation cleanup campaign to edit all existing references to the old name so that they reflect the new one. This can result in temporary or long-term ranking loss and other problems, so this is a choice that deserves very careful consideration.
Hope these thoughts are helpful!

Adding to what Michael said, I will also say that keyword infused domain names increase the potential for the site being more rigorously held up to the Exact Match Domain algorithm system which means your site will need to be even more trustworthy, overall to avoid getting penalized for attempting to artificially rank for that or related phrases.

From what I understand, if your business name is "ACME Sydney", then having the domain acmesydney.com with the location keyword in the URL is preferred, after all it is your business name.
However if your business name is "ACME Plumbing", I wouldn't purchase acmeplumbingsydney.com just for the sake of having a keyword rich domain name.
As for whether or not having multiple keywords in the domain is a good idea. I'd say no, if you're going to include a keyword, only include one and only if it makes sense to include it (i.e. it's your business name).

Do content copycats (plagiarism) hurt original website rankings?
Hi all, Found some websites stolen our content and using the same sentences in their website pages. Does this content hurt our website rankings? Their DA is low, still we are worried about the damage about this plagiarism. Thanks

Google suddenly stops ranking a page for a "keyword" with same "keyword" in title tag. Low competition.
Hi all, We have released our next version of product called like "software 11", which have thousands of searches every month. So we have just added this same keyword "software 11" as page title suffix to one of the top ranking pages. Obviously this is the page has been added suddenly with "software 11" at page title, multiple header tags and 1 mention in paragraph. Google ranked it for 2 days and suddenly stopped showing this page in entire results for the same keyword we optimised the page for. Why does it happened? Does Google think that we are overdoing with this page and ignoring it? Thanks

Why would a blank page rank? What am I missing about this page?
In terms of content, this page is blank. Yes, there's a sidebar and footer, but no content. I've seen a page like this rank before. I'm curious if they're implementing something on the back-end I don't realize or if this is just a fluke? Etc. Also, the DA of the site is only a 15, so I don't think that's the reason. http://www.thenurselawyer.com/component/tags/tag/20-pasco-county-personal-injury-lawyers.html Thanks, Ruben

Recovering from Google Penguin/algorithm penalty?
Anyone think recovery is possible? My site has been in Google limbo for the past 8 months to around a year or so. Like a lot of sites we had seo work done a while sgo and had tons of links that Google now looks down on. I worked with an seo company for a few months now and they seem to agree Penguin is the likely culprit, we are on page 8-10 for keywords that we used to be on page 1 for. Our site is informative and has everything in tact. We deleted whatever links possible and some sites are even hard to find contact information for and some sites want money, I paid a few a couple bucks in hopes maybe it could help the process. Anyway we now have around 600 something domains on disavow file we out up in March-April, with around 100 or 200 added recently as well. If need be a new site could be an option as well but will wait and see if the site can improve on Google with a refresh. Anyone think recovery is possible in a situation like this? Thanks

Our ranking as not returned after penalty, Why?
Hi, We have had a Google action against us for over a year. After many "SEO Company's" we found someone who help us remove (December 2013) the action. Which was due to our bad back link profile. We have 100% improved our content for our website, as Google has requested. We are active within social media, we add relevant content to our blog and we clean up our desk after we finish work 🙂 After looking at Moz tools we have great results, sometimes even better than our competitors. But we are still not getting or improving on our traffic, if anything its decreasing. Is anyone else in the same position? or has anyone recovered from a similar situation? Josh

Are expired domains for Godaddy backlinks already reset by googel ?
When does Google actual reset backlinks to a domain. If i am buying expired domains from godaddy action for linking purpose am i wasting my time. Also if that the case whats the point of buying expired domains with many links pointing to them. If the backlinks to the expired domain still show up under my Google webmaster tool window does that mean Google counts that link?
