How Do I Get Rel=Author to Work Via Wordpress SEO by Yoast?
-
I have read Yoast's tutorial and others on how to get rel=author to work properly on my site (http://injuryattorneyshouston.com). Here are the results I get from the Google Structured Data Testing Tool:
"Authorship is working for this webpage."
"rel=author markup has successfully established authorship for this webpage."
"Publisher markup is verified for this page."
All seems well except for this:
hatom-feed

| Error: At least one field must be set for HatomEntry.Error: Missing required field "entry-title".Error: Missing required field "updated".Error: Missing required hCard "author". |

Hi Chad,
I'm glad your question was answered! Would you kindly mark the most helpful responses you received in this thread as "good answers"?
To answer your last question, bylines contain the name of the author of a story, and sometimes the date published and category. For example, in this post on The Moz Blog, Are You Setting up Wordpress for SEO Success, the byline is "May 7th, 2012 - Posted by Dan Shure to On-Page / Site Optimization".
Bylines are most appropriate for blog posts, news article, editorials, and feature stories. Bylines should not go on press releases, product/service pages, nor sales pages. I peeked at your site, and didn't see any content piece that looked like it should have a byline. If you add a blog to your site with Wordpress, bylines will be enabled by default. Hope this helps, and best of luck!

Also, I'm not sure what bylines are or how I can enable them. Do you have a resource you prefer that will teach me a bit about them?
-
I did. It checks out according to the GSDT.

Since I was using a logo as the picture, I'm trying to get a picture from my client to use instead. I haven't yet been able to get one, though, but I'll update you guys once I'm able to try it. Thank you for answering my questions! The help is such a blessing!

Hi Chad,
Did any responses help? Would love to have an update, thanks.

Hi Chad,
Here's a great thread from Q&A that offers a few different options for addressing your Hatom feed errors: Wordpress Hatom Problem. To be honest, though, I currently need to address the same issue on one of my own sites, and Authorship rich snippets are showing for all of this site's blog posts in the SERPs.
While I wouldn't ignore the Hatom feed errors altogether, I would change your Google+ profile image to a likeness of yourself right off the bat. Authorship is meant for people, and is why it requires reciprocal linking between an author's article/post and their personal Google+ profile. The Google+ profile you are currently linking to is showing a branded image (vs. your smiling face). I've seen Authorship suddenly start showing for people who updated their avatars from a side profile shot to a full-facing one, from an image with dark glasses to a one without, from one with a busy background to one with a background that makes their portrait pop, from a group shot to individual portrait, etc. And while I have occasionally seen logos show as Authorship snippets, this is the rule, not the exception.
The next thing I would do is enable bylines on your blog posts and articles where this makes sense. Then I'd work on regularly publishing useful, high-quality content for your audience on your website/blog -- and build up your personal Google+ profile. Those are good starting points!
Finally, you should also know that Google has never guaranteed showing rich snippets for Authorship in the SERPs, and recently reduced their presence in the SERPs by 15% about a week ago. You can read more about this in this blog post for Virante by Google Authorship expert Mark Traphagen. Work on becoming known as a quality author who posts on quality websites, though, and this shouldn't be a problem. (Easier said than done, I know. But you can do it!)
I hope this helps. Please let me know how things go, and if you need clarification. Cheers!
Christy

You made your profile properly on Google plus correct?
-
It seems to me that you using more than one from of schema or more than one form of Microdata/schema on the website and if that is the case you. Quite a few errors you want to look at your code carefully.
hope that helped,
Tom

On-page SEO
This is a question for the organic SEO experts, once you added the main keyword that you want to rank for in the homepage title, meta title plus meta description, perhaps once or twice in the text on the homepage. How often do you then write it in the content marketing, say blog posts, we want to rank higher on Google for "SEO agencies Cardiff" however if you mention this in the blog posts too much say once a week, this could lead to over optimisation issues?

What's the best way to host Videos on my Wordpress site? (SEO-wise)
I have a hard time choosing whether to stream my videos from certain platforms like vimeo, youtube, etc. or embedding the videos into my site, and I'm not quite sure which one Google would like to see more of? And which style will save my page speed from plummeting too much. Any ideas? Thanks guys

HTTPS, free certificates and Google seo
As we all know, Google decided to give some weight in rankings to encrypted sites. SSL certificate providers are quite a lot out there, but there is also a free alternative (Let’s Encrypt). I've been going over some of these services and compared Godaddy's and the above certificates, and there isn't much of a difference. The question is: using a free certificate would have the same effect as a paid one? I would rather pay for one than be punished for using a free one, but free would be good too.

Best way to get the fastest WordPress site with existing template
I have a WordPress website that I started building for free and eventually paid the $50 bucks for the premium version. My goal right now is to increase the speed. The current speed rating for the site on Google Insights is 60/100 for mobile and 66/100 for desktop. I have used some plugins to help me increase the speed, but the previous number were the best I could do. How can I get this site at least into the 90/100 range? Should I buy another template, or can I hire someone to go through and optimize it. I would like the best option that is as cost effective as possible as this is a hobby site for me. Thanks!

Rel="canonical" link should they be to or from an "SEO friendly" url
Thanks for taking the time to review this. So for our example, lets use the following SEO friendly link: http://hiu.calibermediagroup.com/undergraduate-on-campus/academics/colleges/pacific-christian-college-of-ministry-and-biblical-studies/BA-biblical-studies We'll call this link the SEO VERSION The title of the college is" Pacific Christian College of Minstry and Biblical Studies" The title of the program is "BA Biblical Studies" The QUERY version of the link to this page would be something like: http://hiu.calibermediagroup.com/undergraduate-on-campus/academics/colleges/index.php?collegeid=22&programid=34 Keep in mind that the meta title, description, and keyword tags for the page are all administerable The SEO VERSION is automatically created from the title of the college, and the title of the program. Each one of these titles can be overidden with a URL slug individually. For instance, the admin could make the link: http://hiu.calibermediagroup.com/undergraduate-on-campus/academics/colleges/pacific-christian-college-of-ministry/biblical-studies by changing the slug for the college to "pacific-christian-college-of-ministry" and the slug for the program to "biblical-studies". Let's call this version the SLUG VERSION So now we have multiple ways to get to the same content. The question on the table is what is best practice for the rel="canonical" link to keep from getting dinged for duplicate content. Let's say that our SEO VERSION is the canonical link for 1 year. Then the choice was made to optimize the links thru the slugs creating the SLUG VERSION. My assumption is that we would keep the SEO VERSION as the canonical link. But then let's say 6 months later that the title of the program is changed in the admin. Now the SEO VERSION has changed and so has the canonical link. Do we lose the link juice garnered over the last 18 months? It would seem to me, that if we use the QUERY version as the canonical link, then any optimizations or changes affect everything except the canonical link, thus keeping the previous link juice earned. But is having an ugly URL as the canonical link detrimental to SEO? Please advise.

Nowadays is it fundamental renaming images for SEO?
Its it fundamental nowadays renaming images for SEO? Many photos are on top positions without being renamed like: mykeyword.jpg but can be 9876986.jpg instead. Doesn't itcount much more the contest in which they are such as text around photos, descriptions and context from internal and external linking pages? Renaming everyphoto, in every gallery can be considered over optimization? Is there any study showing the impact the single factor of renaming a photo in a page? Thanks
