Where do you job post to find someone specific like video optimizers?
-
So we have a job opening at our company for a video optimizer and we're looking to fill the position, but we can't seem to get anyone really qualified. If you happen to know anyone or a place to post we would appreciate the help. We're also located in LA so if you know of sites that base things off of location that would be great as well.
Here's link to our current posting:

Thanks!

Hey Kate,
That's an interesting Question. I think you may struggle to find someone specifically trained in the requirements you state, as Video SEO and Video optimisation is a very specific skill that only some SEOs will have experience of, and few people working in the technical video space will have even heard of.
That said, I'm sure you should be able to find someone for the role by just advertising for the core competencies required and then training a good candidate up in the specific video optimisation skills, which are fairly simple principles to learn.
I would recommend taking a two-pronged approach to hiring - searching for people in the production space with some web experience and searching for people in the marketing/SEO/web space with video production experience. While your job description has mostly "SEO" type skills, to be a good video optimiser your candidate will also need an understanding of encoding, embedding production and dramaturgy. So..I suggest posting the job here:
Requesting a technical editor with web experience - specifically analytics and HTML.
Then also put the job on http://jobs.inbound.org/ and any other SEO jobs boards you can find, but ask for the core SEO experiences and some video production knowledge, rather than specific YouTube optimisation skills.
Obviously YouTube experience is a bonus, but in my honest opinion, it shouldn't be a pre-requisite because of how easy it is to pick up the basics
Once you've found someone with the core skills - both creative and technical ability, then essentially get them to go through this guide - http://www.distilled.net/training/video-marketing-guide/ and all related links in depth.
However, It is a tough thing to find candidates for and I expect it is going to take you a while to locate the right person. It recently took me about 4 months to find and hire an editor & animator with HTML experience at Distilled and the challenge wasn't getting someone with the right skills, but finding someone who was talented and smart enough to be able to work things out for themselves, try new things and get to grips with the ever changing landscape of online video.
Hope that's somewhat useful.
Cheers,
Phil.

The problem is that it's YouTube video optimization so most trade sites tend to lead us to the wrong qualifications since it's not really a job that's been done a lot before. Basically we are looking for someone with a lot of YouTube experience and probably some SEO.

Production Hub - http://www.productionhub.com/ may be a good place to list the job opening. I would also look into professional associations or trade groups for the type of position that allow posts within their forum or have a designated section for careers.

Where to find good SEO job applicants?
We're located in South Dakota, and I'm having a hard time getting qualified job applicants for an advanced SEO position. The ad has been placed on local job sites as well as careerbuilder.com and indeed.com. What other places do you recommend?

Guest Posting- Only Relevant Websites or Not?
I am aware of the fact that guest posting needs to be done for traffic and some level of SEO juice. However, what if we have less blogs to go after in our niche? Here's a scenario. If I own a site about stock trading, there are only very few blogs about stock trading. Even if I broaden the niche and go after all finance related blogs, at one point, I'll hit a ceiling. What would you recommend now? Would you start guest posting on non relevant sites that accept guest posts? Say tech blogs and then link to your site? Would that lead to some kind of link manipulation penalty? WHat I can think of is to tie the post to something that's relevant- guest post in a technology website could be about "How Stock Trading Algorithms Can Be Built on The Cloud?". However, there is only so many articles you can write like that. Suggestions are ,most welcome.

Is there a really good place to find high end, cutting edge web developers online.
My issue is that I know there are a lot of web developers in the world and all of them are great just like all the great SEO's in the world. Does anyone know of a great place to find really top talent that is the kind where the people are constantly stretching and trying new things, etc.

Is there a web dev board the better ones are on, etc. Any luck in other areas? We have a position available, but will not fill it with anyone average or above average. I really would love to know what boards, forums, etc. I can find them on, but every search lists 50 boards and, the is not my everyday world. I just do not know which are the ones that will put me in front of the best in the world. Any help is appreciated. Robert0 -
Best Places to Post SEO/Marketing Jobs?
I have several colleagues in the industry (and some fellow marketers) who have asked me where the best places are to look for and post SEO job opportunities. I personally like InBound.org and LinkedIn. Where do you recommend marketeers look for job opportunities? D

Strange video site adding unwanted links.
Today I was checking our backlink profile and noticed a lot of strange back links coming from grosezinga.com apparently this site is some type of search engine for videos, and it somehow pulls videos from Youtube, and Daily Motion, and adds them to the grosezinga search engine. I have never placed a link on this site, I do not want a link there, and I never even knew it existed until today. We do have video tutorials on the web, and somehow this site has pulled them from our video page without our permission, and added them to this site. Anyone ever had this problem, should I ask for them to be removed? When I do a Google video search my url is showing up on about a hundred different videos that are not ours. I don't want to be accused of building unnatural links.

SEO-contests like “hochgeschwindigkeitsSEO” worldwide?
In Germany people out of the SEO industry seem to love SEO contests - the latest one being to bring up the keyword “hochgeschwindigkeitsSEO” on Pos. 1 on Google until a set time (contest entry example here). There obviously is a price (newest iPhone) and a sponsor (Randolf Jorberg), but for the most part it's a contest which holds the Olympic thought: Being there just means most of it 🙂 So I was wondering: are there any other countries where such contests are being held? I have not heard of any examples and I am quite curious if any other SEO communites out there have something similar going on 🙂

What does the New Frontier of Search Look Like? (Mobile and Tablet)
I'd like to start a discussion thread on the direction of search as it applies to mobile and tablet. Jeff Haden, one of our Inc.com contributors, wrote an article headline stating that SIRI would be the end of SEO. However, what the article really talks about is the direction mobile search is likely to take: 1. Search results will be bypassed 2. Even more emphasis on local 3. PPC will be irrelevant 4. Emphasis on social media I think these insights are fairly intuitive and it will be really interesting to see how the medium for mobile and tablet develops. It will be interesting to see what technologies will shape the means by which users find information and not just the search intent of the user. Please add any insights you may have or good reads you'd like to share here.

What do you want to see in a YOUMoz post?
My first YOUMoz post was published the other day and I got some pretty good feedback in the comments. I was wondering what topic, tip or insight would people like to see from a YOUMoz post? I want to start a new one but have some writer's block, if there's anything out there someone would really like to see, I would love to run with an idea.
