Track subdomain in analytics
-
Hi,
Our jobs section has recently been moved on to a subdomain https://jobs.ourwebsite.co.uk/home.html which is handled by a third party. Our analytics for the jobs section was lost as no code was added to the pages. Previously it was part of the main site.
How do I track it as a subdomain so that it appears to be part of our main site?
We have the old GA and universal GA code on the site
Thanks

Thanks Hutch

You would need to use a series of filters and/or regular expressions to draw out only your job pages based on the domain and then place information into the URI. Your filters can be found in the admin section under your view. It takes a good amount of testing to get filters like this right, and a small mistake can destroy a lot of data so make sure not to use your main account and instead create a testing account to fine tune this.

Thanks.
How do you set up the find and replace filter?
-
Using universal is it not hard to, you can just place the code onto the 3rd party site. To make it easy to look at you will want to make a find and replace filter to target only the traffic to your 3rd party site and change the URI so that it will make more sense when looking at it (if you do not then it will see your home page and the main page of the jobs site as just "/"). Make sure that you set up a test profile for your filters so that you do not cause problems with your data. This is the more complex way of looking at it, if you only care how many people click off to your jobs section and not how they interact with it you can place event tracking code onto any link that goes to the job section.
All of this is much easier if you use Google's Tag Manager as the cross domain linking or adding custom event calls become even easier to implement.

Hi, I think the 3rd party can add code.
Our main site currently has both old and universal code
-
Does your 3rd party service have the ability to add GA code to include the necessary cross domain tracking code or does it use universal analytics?
-
Thanks, but still unsure. I've also read

Hi!
There was an article about this on Moz main blog: http://moz.com/blog/cross-domain-subdomain-tracking-in-google-analytics
Maybe it will be helpful for you.

Reverse an Ecommerce Transaction in Analytics
I am looking for help on using Googles Reverse an Ecommerce Transaction in Analytics work flow documented here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1037443?hl=en&ref_topic=1037062 Essentially an incorrect transaction was processed that was for such a large number that it is really messing up reporting. I have never used Googles outlined process and from my research it looks like it might not reverse the transaction for the date it was placed but ad a negative amount to offset it on the date submitted. This will still work for year of year reporting but it will mess up the data for two different days in one month. If someone who had done this before has any insight please chime in thanks! Here is a support thread about the reverse transaction messing up a different days data. https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!searchin/analytics/reverse$20transaction/analytics/gDiVNJDwx5I/BwlNJ9D6Lp8J

Google Analytics subdomain ecommerce tracking flatlines :-(
Buongiorno from 19 degrees C wetherby UK 🙂 This website http://www.philpotts.co.uk/ contains a shop sub domian @ http://shop.philpotts.co.uk/. I configured the site Ga analytics code to include the subdomain (see below code). I had to do this as i was getting refferal data from the actuall subdomain. But after following the instructions on p117 of cutroni's ga book things have gone wrong, mainly now eCommerce data has dissapeared 😞 So my question is please: "Why has installing the GA code above caused eCommerce tracking to suddenly go dead?" Grazie tanto,

Google Analytics Goals are not recording
Hello! I've set up Goals within Google Analytics and they aren't registering. I'm wondering if someone can review what I've set up to see if I've entered something wrong. I'm trying to track enrollments. Here's the site info: Enroll URL: http://www.careplusdentalplans.com/individuals/enroll-careplus/ Upon completion, the user goes to a Thank You page and our CMS generates a trailing URL parameter. For example: http://www.careplusdentalplans.com/index.php/individuals/enroll-careplus-thank-you/#123456789 My Goal info in GA: Goal URL: /individuals/enroll-careplus-thank-you/
Reporting & Analytics | | SmileMoreSEO
Match Type: Head Match (to disregard trailing URL parameter)
Goal Funnel: Step 1: /individuals/enroll-careplus/ I'm curious if the problem lies in either: The URL: Notice how the URL adds /index.php/ on the thank you page. In that case, should I enter the full URL in the Goal instead of the truncated URL? The Funnel: Is it necessary to show the initial Enroll page or if I'll see that in the Flow Visualization regardless? Thanks in advance for helping me out. Erik0 -
URL Re-Structure - Tracking success of it
Hi guys, I was wondering what would be the best approach to track the success of a URL restructure? What we plan to do is to implement the URL re-structure slowly by only having it on new pages which go live for property listings. Any previous listings will use the old URL structure. I thought it would be best to limit any potential problems by testing it on a smaller number of pages. So my question really is, what metrics should I be looking at to determine the success of this given the fact that we remove any property listings once they get rented or sold?
