Facebook reach being restricted?
-
Hi All,
I just wanted to see if others are having the same problem. Our Facebook posts used to reach a fair amount of people organically and that in itself generated enough clicks for what we wanted.
The problem is over the last month the reach has dropped considerably and it just doesn't increase at all after a few hours. Obviously boosting the post makes it reach thousands but organic is terrible!
Should I be troubleshooting our social update strategy or are others experiencing the same sort of "choking" with their Facebook posts? Twitter is fine, it reaches thousands organically so no issues there.

Anthony I am glad I'm not alone.
I sort of accepted that Facebook was making life hard work for it's posters to shake more money out of us but when organic reach drops from the high hundreds to mid thirties for no apparent reason, you gotta ask what's going wrong!
Have a good one

Thanks Ryan,
I haven't read it all yet but from what I have read so far it does look we're singing from the same sheet. I like the idea of driving traffic from Twitter to Facebook so I'm going to look into that.
Cheers for the info and links

You are not alone. Facebook wants to make money and is essentially another ad network. Yes, there is some organic reach but it is very, very little. Company pages promoting their own content now have to pay to reach their fans. That is just the way it is. The best way to tap into Facebook's "organic reach" is to have content that gets it's own likes and shares.

There was an interesting blog post on this lining up well with what you're experiencing it seems (especially in the comments) here: http://moz.com/blog/1-dollar-per-day-on-facebook-ads. The video they reference is this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVfHeWTKjag which is pretty interesting as well. You might have to employ more cross-over in your social, i.e. using twitter to drive better Facebook engagement. Ultimately though it seems to be more alignment within Facebook's walled garden approach.

SEO for Facebook's search bar?
Hey everyone! Had a quick question for ya'. Does anyone know if there are currently SEO tactics that are in place to help a company's Facebook page rank in their search bar? For example: When I search "Idaho Auctions" into the facebook search bar, there's a multitude of results - ranging from groups, to events, to businesses. How do these get ranked above each other?

Why does our Facebook not show up when searching for our business name?
Our Facebook is titled NJ & PA Personal Injury Attorney Richard P. Console Jr., and the url is Facebook.com/myinjuryattorney, and our website is www.consoleandhollawell.com. Because of the different names, we put social schema on our site which we thought would help Google associate the two. It doesn't seem to be working as we are not showing up in the serp's when searching for "Console & Hollawell Facebook" and even "Richard Console Facebook" Could anyone give any insight as to why? Thank you!

Facebook, Google Plus - What to share/like?
Hi everybody! We are planning to offer an incentive to all our customers who interact with us on social media websites. What's the most important thing to ask from a customer? Facebook to like our Facebook business page or to like our own website through Facebook? to just follow us on Facebook or to actually comment / interact on our wall? Google + to +1, share, add to circle our Google+ business webpage or to +1 or share our own website? So basically what do we need to promote most? Our Facebook / Google+ business pages or our own website through social media marketing? While we understand it's important to actually interact with the customers and offer value on social media websites, we are looking to boost our SEO efforts. Thank you!
