Inclusion in the Google Knowledge Graph, Positive Benefits and Outcomes
-
Mozzers,
Google has recently begun to include some of our blog content within its knowledge graph, Not our company data for the branded searches, but within the results for general FAQ style questions and queries common to our industry. In a couple of cases using our content over Wikipedia which was really pleasing
My thinking is that this is not just general luck but that google likes our technical blog content and even as far as to promote it themselves and sees us as authoritative in this industry/field ? I see this as an opportunity to continue publishing if anything increase the frequency for this style of content to build up authority in this sector in the hope that google will look at our brand and maybe even our search positioning favorably. (Similar to the idea behind author rank possibly?)
Just wanted some general opinions from some knowledgeable Mozzers on this or if maybe i am thinking too far into it? Maybe there is something i should be looking at to further improve how favorably google looks at our content for inclusion in its knowledge graph?
Thanks
James

Yeah, these are the newish attributed answer boxes (that come from the index/web), and here's what we know so far. Basically, if Google interprets a query as question-like (which is an ability that may have come out of Hummingbird or been increased by that update), then they look at the sites ranking on page 1 and try to see who's title/snippet/content best match the question.
In other words, you have to rank on page 1 organically, and then you have to provide a decent answer. This second part still seems pretty crude right now - Google seems to be trying to match against question/answer keywords in a fairly literal way. So, if you see a competitor ranking, you may want to tweak your page title, Meta Description, and on-page content to better match the intent of the question or to sound more like a succinct answer.

Peter,
Thank you, Here is the result i was talking about,
The search is for 'What are octave bands?' , Basically we are a manufacturer of sound level meters, but blog a lot about general acoustic related topics,
Thanks

Can you give me a sample query or a sense of where you're appearing in the Knowledge Graph? Is it an attributed answer at the top of the left-hand column, or a right-hand column Knowledge Panel? Different aspects of KG are powered by different engines, so the specifics are pretty important.

Really, what are the benefits of creating a Google Brand page for an e-commerce site?
We have a jewellery store client who already have a Google My Business page set up for its store front business. Should we also create a Google Brand page for its e-commerce site (which has a different business name to the jewellery store)? This client already has a pretty robust Facebook profile. Is it worth it maintaining a Brand page then - since it targets Google plus users?

And what are the chances of a Brand page appearing on search results when you're not a Nike or a Calvin Klein? Thanks heaps in anticipation of your response.0 -
Image shown in Google SERPs
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone can help. Is there any way to change the image displayed for a brand image in Google SERPs? See screenshot below. The image of the BBQs and iPod links to an old blog post. We'd like this changed ideally. Thanks! iGjZzl8

Should I thank a share on Google Plus (as a business)?
Hi, As all that manage their social channels, I often track some of the posts and how people interacted with them. My question is quite simple: As a business page - Should I thank someone for sharing my post?
Branding | | BeytzNet
I assume it would make them feel worthy and will probably cause them to share again... However, will my page's followers see that I thanked someone (and will doing so annoys them if I now thank 10 different people)...? Who sees a comment my page puts on another person's share? Thanks0 -
How can I claim authorship for a doctor using their title "MD" on Google Plus?
Hi Everyone, I am wondering how to claim authorship for doctors while still using their title "MD." Adding MD to Google Plus profiles goes against Google name policy, but in order to comply with the FTC we need to include "MD" to our doctor's name in our article by-lines. I have sent in many appeals with evidence that they have a degree. I also considered creating a "Google Page," but had the impression that you cannot claim authorship with rel=author tags with a "Google Page," only rel=publish. Can anyone help me figure out how to claim authorship for a doctor using (first name last name), MD ?

Google auto-correct affecting one of my keywords
Hi there, I have a keyword "finao montreal" that used to rank 8 or 9 in Google serp. All of a sudden it dropped under the top 50 results, I was wondering why and I found out that Google now auto-corrects "finao montreal" to "final montreal". Finao is a well know brand of custom high-end photo albums and I find it strange that Google corrects it. Anyone has an idea on what to do with this situation? Is there a way to provide Google some feedback about the autocorrect?

How to get Google to link external review sites in Google Places
Hi, I have several company profiles in Google Places and Google Sites, I also have the same profiles for those companies in review sites like Yelp! and so on. I have seen that other sites have links on the bottom where Google points to those external review sites, but that doesn't happen for me yet, is there a way to tell Google that I have profiles on other review sites so they can link them or is it Google whenever they find them that will link them? Here's an example: http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=14126341780178539960&hl=en At the bottom you'll see that it says: Reviews from around the web Now this is one of mine: http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=12168877126282825032&hl=en Now how do I get that line at the bottom provided that I know there are reviews out there in other sites? Is there something I can do? Or is it all about Google doing it whenever they see fit? Thank you!

Ranking Videos on First Page of Google
Hey Guys, My videos are doing well on YouTube with lots of views and comments (about 1.5 million views). Nevertheless, I can’t manage to get them to appear on Google’s first SERP for my branded keywords. What am I doing wrong? What in your opinion are the major ranking factors for YouTube videos? Thanks!
