I have a client challenging me with this issue right now. Despite me working with the client doing things in an ethical way, they are keen to engage a business who offers this service of being able to offer 'PAID TRAFFIC.
For around $70 dollars they will send according to them TARGETED | QUALITY TRAFFIC. The client decided to go ahead and sign up and within 24 hours the site went from having had around 200 sessions a day to over 2000 in just 24 hours. Analytics saw the REFERRAL channel become the leader in bringing traffic and started listing lots of IP ADDRESSES.
The company also say there is no spam in the traffic they send to your site. They also say these 'site visitors' are 100% genuine and not bots etc.
I am personally a bit sceptical about how this will affect the site building its relationship with Google over time. So, is there evidence that some companies are getting better at delivering this type of service and the technology makes it much more ethical and worth buying into?
Of course - what happens when you switch the service off?

Hi there
I want to change your question a bit, so I will answer this question:
Can anyone recommend any good traffic opportunities?
The reason being - as everyone stated, don't utilize "traffic buying" companies - there are no "good" ones, usually resulting in spam traffic and links that will get you penalized by Google. Simply put, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.
That said, there opportunities to get your content and your website in front of the right people and audience members. A couple of things I would suggest would be to check your local SEO presence and audit it. You can utilize services like Moz Local and Whitespark to help with your citations building and categorization - making sure you are appearing for the right searches in your area.
I would also look at content discovery platforms like Outbrain, Taboola, or others. These platforms, while not super beneficial from a SEO standpoint, can get your content in front of the right audiences based on their interests and viewing history, and can potentially help with brand building and awareness.
Make sure you are utilizing your social presence as well - engaging your audience as much as you can and creating a human element to your website and brand. Learn as much as you can about your audience; be where they are and create the content that they want to engage with, the way they engage with it.
Lastly, I would check out the Whiteboard Friday called Wait, Paid Media Investments Can Yield SEO Value?! - there are some great tips and ideas in that as well.
If you are going to spend money for "traffic buying" services - make sure that you take that budget and invest in honest brand building. All of the sources above can help your website and brand grow in an organic and natural way that won't trip spam signals. Stay relevant, stay fresh, and stay honest. That's the best investment you can make.
Hope this all helps! Good luck!

Yes I have now contacted a few affiliate companies so that should help...

I cannot really see a place in the market for a real one unless it is tied to an affiliate program on your end. Have you thought about setting up an affiliate program?

Hi lesley
yes I do know a lot of it fake but would like to think there some genuine companies out there ?
-
You do realize that bought traffic 99% of the time is bot traffic by farms in SE Asia that never actually look at your site, correct?
-
Hi ikkie
thanks for the response
i am not sure if cash back sites would really work for us as we are not a product ecommerce site, we operate in the financial services markets
thanks

hey
i don't think thats a good idea to buy traffic from any one for any sort of e-commerce business or site. However, i would strongly recommend you to use cash back or rewards companies to get leads as these companies works very well in this manner. Moreover it will be good for your SEO point view.
You can also buy leads from companies those sell leads buying a traffic may not a good idea.

How to fix canonicalization so Google shows our company's website and not LinkedIn
I work for a company that builds and manages apartments. I would like to know how we can fix canonicalization. You see, we have been posting our company's blog articles not only on our company's website, but also on LinkedIn. When people search for one of our articles, Google is displaying the article for LinkedIn. Except, that's not what we want. I'd prefer for Google to display our company's website, to drive more traffic to our website and not LinkedIn. For instance I just Googled the title to one of our company's blog article "Great Leadership is about Influence not Authority." The first thing to show up was a link to see the article on LinkedIn. There was nothing referring to our company's website. Here is a link to the LinkedIn account where we have been posting the blogs: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/great-leadership-influence-authority-mike-kaeding/ Here is a link to the same article, but on our company's website: https://www.norhart.com/blog/2018/08/08/great-leadership-is-about-influence-not-authority/ Why is Google showing the article for Linkedin and not our Company's website? Might LinkedIn have canonicalization over Google? If so, how might we be able to reverse this and drive people to our company's blog instead. Any ideas I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

Split test content experiment - Why can't GA identify a winner here?
I have been running a content experiment for a short while now and GA has just ended it saying it cannot determine a winner. Looking at the images (links below), without any form of analysis I can already see a pattern of greater success in Variation 1. It ended with a 93% probability of outperforming the original yet the content experiment ended with no winner. Does this mean the 95% confidence threshold I set should've been lowered? Ultimately I'm going to choose this as my winner but why didn't GA push it as the winner? Is there something I am missing? Image 1 - Showing e-commerce performance (objective of split test was transactions) Image 2 - Showing conversions (same split test, same objective, just different report) Your thoughts and comments will be appreciated.

Increase conversion rate to buy
I am trying to understand why my women fashion site has a very low conversion, basically zero apart from some occasional sales (last one a few months ago) There is a lack of organic traffic the to shop subdomain, but what worries me is that (email/social media) campaigns to existing clients who happily buy repeatedly from our brick and mortar store do not generate results, despite using promotion codes etc. Before investing heavily in PPC campaigns etc, I'd like to improve conversion. Any advice on what can be improved ? PD: link can be found in my profile.

Tracking Organic Seach Queries From GA to Companies
Okay, so this is a kinda ridiculous, long shot whim du jour. But it's so intriguing I can't resist. Last week, GA reveals that my client had 6 queries (vs. 0 since the beginning of time) in the format: Large Red Widgets #3 in Obscure Suburb (of my client's head office) Large Red Widgets #3 just happen to be expensive and profitable. My question: is there a snowball's chance in hell of tracking this query any further? I'll take what I can get -- since not many people are interested in red widgets #3 in said obscure suburb. I'd like enough info so a sales rep can follow up. These folks are not shy. Thoughts? Next steps? Idiot proof instructions on where specifically to look in GA?

What's the most effective web marketing tactic you've seen or used that very few people know about?
I wanted to start a thread to share some of the really cool marketing tactics I've seen on the web that I think few folks are using, AND ask the community here what you've seen, too! Some of my favorite undiscovered or less-used tactics include: Making smart use of bios for conferences, events, interviews, etc. where folks ask you or your team members for a "bio" and you get to control the links, link targets, and anchor text. This is super powerful in my experience, so long as you have a moderately strong profile or regular participation in this type of stuff. Price anchoring on conversion pages, e.g. http://www.trackur.com/options - note how they start with the highest price to help "anchor" the audience to bigger numbers. A great principle of psychology in action. Using re-marketing to draw people to content rather than just purchase/conversion pages. The effectiveness of these is, I've heard, dramatically higher than the usual re-marketing campaigns that take you to a squeeze or purchase page. I can't share the example I'm thinking of, unfortunately, but I'd urge you to try it! Get more social shares and clicks by SHARING MORE THAN ONCE! A lot of folks feel like they are burdening their audience on Twitter/Facebook/G+ or frustrating them if they post multiple times, when in fact, very, very few of your followers are online at any given time. I've tested this myself and I get almost no negative feedback but can triple or more the number of shares/+1s/likes/visits/etc I get just by sharing 2-3X! The key is not to be too repetitive or annoying, and to acknowledge past shares (at least for me). e.g. I'll say "my blog post from last night on XYZ" and get a ton more clicks. What are your favorites? Please share!

How can I Monetize My Site with The Type of Traffic it Receives?
I was just in here yesterday asking a question, so I appreciate everyone's patience with this newbie! This is a totally different site that I have a question about so here goes: I have a site that has started to receive large amounts of traffic from an image search. My intention was to use Amazon for products based on my website theme. I haven't been getting traffic from my intended keywords. Now I rank #2 for an image search, loads of traffic! GREAT! But what next? These ppl. aren't looking to buy stuff, they just want the image. Fine, it is a public domain image. I thought of adding some more informational articles and using adsense to bring in some cash. Any opinions on the best way to go with this site? I only have 3 articles up so it could go in any direction from here. Thanks!!!

Good content but high bounce rate
Hi all, We run a website offering specialist turkey tours and gulet cruises. Our website holds a few information and recipes pages which are doing well in the engines and bring in alot of traffic. However these pages are crippling our bounce rate with bounces of about 80-90%. The time on site for these pages are above the websites average, but it seems that once the reader has finished with the information/ recipe, they bounce back to the Search engines. An example of one of our recipe pages can be found here: http://www.petersommer.com/turkey/turkish-food/pilav-rice/ We have thought about moving and redirecting these pages from our main site to a new website, but we are worried that it may effect our position in the SERP's. Can anybody offer any advice on this? Thanks
