Not Adding Fresh Content Daily Did Got Me Penalized?
-
One of my website used to post like a 1000 words articles every 4-5 (say like 12 x 300 words articles each in a week) days in a week. The process went till 3 months. Then suddenly we stopped adding content to it for a flat 15 days due to unavailability of content writer. Suddenly a major drop took place. Now we have been adding the same amount of quality content but the ranking doesn't seem to be improving. Is it a penalty?
-
If you go the "quality content" route and can only produce a small number of new articles per month, the best thing to do is to produce only "evergreen" content that can be recycled out to the front page. That will give the appearance of activity and diversity - at least to visitors with a good memory who have not been visiting your site for a long time.
Also, if you have a page of "news" where you link to articles on other websites about industry trends or interesting topics. That can develop a following of thousands of people who visit your site frequently just to check that page - or subscribe to your feed.

It will certainly get picked up by site crawlers for audit purposes, but would Google object to it? It depends what it is, where it is and how necessary it is. If it's a line of spam (for example) just to add in keywords, then this might cause you issues, but it depends on the quality of the rest of the page and content.

No problem sir!

Mine isn't a sort of blog post. Its a demand of the website where i have to introduce 3 new pages. Content was originally written no spin, rewrite or so. One more thing i would like to addup, all my pages have a line in common (15-20 words) out of the 300 words. Can it affect the content duplicate issue?

That's the one - thanks Patrick

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Looks like Phanthon 2 has effect my site.

Well, check analytics to look for when the drop happened and then look here on MOZ to see if it has coincided with anything.

I truly understand but its a demand of website to have short articles. Because are writing product descriptions. So to make sure we at least have 300 words of goof content written on each page.

Hi Jawahar,
The best way to spot a penalty is to look at your analytics and see if any drops coincide with any algorithm updates.
I would echo a point that EGOL made earlier on another post, that daily content in this manner is probably not as beneficial as posting one very high quality article once a week. Of course, it depends what you are writing about, but shorter articles like this wouldn't generally do as much for you.

On Page Content. has a H2 Tag but should I also use H3 tags for the sub headings within this body of content
Hi Mozzers, My on page content comes under my H2 tag. I have a few subheadings within my content to help break it up etc and currently this is just underlined (not bold or anything) and I am wondering from an SEO perspective, should I be making these sub headings H3 tags. Otherwise , I just have 500-750 words of content under an H2 tag which is what I am currently doing on my landing pages. thanks pete

Is my site being penalized?
I've gone through all the points on https://moz.com/blog/technical-site-audit-for-2015 but the site only ranks for its brand name after months. The website is not ranking in the top 100 for any main keywords (2,3,4 word phrases), only for a handful of very long phrases (4+). All of the content is unique, all pages are indexed, the website is fast and doesn't contain any crawl errors and there are a couple of links pointing to it. There is a sitewide follow link in the footer pointing to another domain, its parent company and vice-versa. This is not done for any SEO reasons but the companies are related and also the products are supplementary of each other. Could this be an issue? Or is my site being penalized by something else?

No-index pages with duplicate content?
Hello, I have an e-commerce website selling about 20 000 different products. For the most used of those products, I created unique high quality content. The content has been written by a professional player that describes how and why those are useful which is of huge interest to buyers. It would cost too much to write that high quality content for 20 000 different products, but we still have to sell them. Therefore, our idea was to no-index the products that only have the same copy-paste descriptions all other websites have. Do you think it's better to do that or to just let everything indexed normally since we might get search traffic from those pages? Thanks a lot for your help!

Noindexing Duplicate (non-unique) Content
When "noindex" is added to a page, does this ensure Google does not count page as part of their analysis of unique vs duplicate content ratio on a website? Example: I have a real estate business and I have noindex on MLS pages. However, is there a chance that even though Google does not index these pages, Google will still see those pages and think "ah, these are duplicate MLS pages, we are going to let those pages drag down value of entire site and lower ranking of even the unique pages". I like to just use "noindex, follow" on those MLS pages, but would it be safer to add pages to robots.txt as well and that should - in theory - increase likelihood Google will not see such MLS pages as duplicate content on my website? On another note: I had these MLS pages indexed and 3-4 weeks ago added "noindex, follow". However, still all indexed and no signs Google is noindexing yet.....

Best practice with duplicate content. Cd
Our website has recently been updated, now it seems that all of our products pages look like this cdnorigin.companyname.com/catagory/product Google is showing these pages within the search. rather then companyname.com/catagory/product Each product page does have a canaonacal tag on that points to the cdnorigin page. Is this best practice? i dont think that cdnorigin.companyname etc looks very goon in the search. is there any reason why my designer would set the canonical tags up this way?

Duplicate content reported on WMT for 301 redirected content
We had to 301 redirect a large number of URL's. Not Google WMT is telling me that we are having tons of duplicate page titles. When I looked into the specific URL's I realized that Google is listing an old URL's and the 301 redirected new URL as the source of the duplicate content. I confirmed the 301 redirect by using a server header tool to check the correct implementation of the 301 redirect from the old to the new URL. Question: Why is Google Webmaster Tool reporting duplicated content for these pages?
