Looking for a small list of sites I can gain backlinks from
-
Is there or does anyone have a list of backlinks I can guest post etc from in order to gain some good strong backlinks?
-
I would advise against it since most reputable blogs I would assume have a rel="nofollow" for links when public commenting is allowed. For example Moz has rel="nofollow" on users profile links also. So I would not advise using that as a strategy for creating backlinks.
-
What about blog commenting? If your a member of a forum and your profile has you'r URL, do your comments or posts create backlinks?

Thank you greatly for the effort and time,
All the ideas and suggestions can help, it's certainly a long game.
This should get us started for a bit, anything worth something takes time to complete.
Thank you again!
-
Yes so I'm told, I'm prepared to put in the work just needed some pointers to get in the right direction.
Thanks again.
-
It's a difficult process for sure but definitely worth it. Hope that helps you out some.
-
so lots more research needed and contacting people, companies etc from what I see. Some good points there, thanks for sharing.

The first thing I recommend and I know I already spoke on it is setting up Google Alerts to monitor for any mentions, articles or blogs regarding your industry or niche. Next, I would go into Moz’s fresh web explorer and look for any mentions of your brand, competitors or any other industry specific key terms. Also, Rand has an excellent post on identifying who your target audience is, creating customer personas and identifying sites they visit with marketing opportunities to better reach these audiences.
Some key takeaways I had from the whiteboard Friday were: As a side note this was an excellent post and I highly recommend reading it in its entirety my takeaways do not do it justice.
1.) Identify people who are part of the target audience
Find previous buyers or people who are engaging heavily and made a previous purchase or develop buyer personas of people you want to reach
*Look at social networks used; what content he consumes and where they have profiles at
2.) Collect search results
*Do some broad keyword research; then look for domains that are ranking consistently numerous times for a variety of related keywords
*line the searches up with the keywords
3.) Broaden the list – plug the domains into SEM rush and similarweb and see additional keywords and competitor domains
4.) Survey target audience
- Qualitative analysis
5.) Identify marketing opportunities on the sites to reach them.
Guest blogging
‘guest blogger for …..’
‘writers wanted for ….’
‘blog for us….. ‘
Advertising
Engaging with the community
I hope this helps some.

Ok cool, be sure to help others (inc me) out with your findings and idea's

The industry I have to be secretive about, but will say its a distribution company for commercial equipment that every commercial building needs.
That was the only part I wanted to be private, not the answers related. The rest of the conversation will be here.
-
That sounds good I may have some good ideas for you.
-
Probably respond here if you will it will help others and me no doubt!
-
Totally agree, seems so hard to get quality links and where to get them without it classing as spam. So many people saying different things and throwing different idea's around, my head is hurting!!!!
-
I'll respond to this in private, but we can continue this here so it can benefit others.
-
I love the analogy at the end. What niche or industry are you in?
-
I'd love some help in this department.
As most ideas I've read seem completely unrelated or unreasonable for a very niche industry, basically to the point I've been completely dumbfounded as to how to approach this.
Guest blogging is extremely hard to do in this industry where there aren't many blogs if any that would even be worth the effort to find them, since normal methods turn up little leads.
We have our manufacturers linking back, but other than that and the trickle we get from directory scrapers and links to actual content, backlinks for niche industries seem like a uphill battle.
Even the blogs here at moz and elsewhere on niche industry backlink building haven't really helped, due to the nature of what is being sold and the parent industry in general consisting of older than millennials and don't use the internet in a way that would assist us in this process.
In some senses seems we could acquire backlinks easier if we sold black eyes or bad luck.
Any advice in this case?
-
Your welcome let me know if I can be of anymore help.
-
Thanks for your input, Yes I have a custom blog I built and I blog regularly. I'll check out the links you sent and have a read up.
-
As a side note I would recommend reading Moz's article on guest blogging by Jennita.
-
Do you currently blog on your own site and produce linkable content? I would recommend using moz's opensite explorer to find link opportunities. Also you can set up custom Google Alerts to look for link opportunities and guest blogging options within your niche.

Spammy backlinks are working?!
Hello, fellow MOZers. I just read this article of this guy (not myself, I promise 🙂 ) I never heard before: http://stream-seo.com/churn-burn-backlinks-case-study/ According to him SUPER spam is actually helping, and, according to him again, google punguin didn't knock it down either. It looks and sounds all very shady and salesy for all those tools he is mentioning (actually, not just mentioning, but linking to). At the same it looks impressive if it's true. My thoughts are that it's falsified/buttered article, otherwise, if everything he says is true, we would see direct correlation between ranking position and number of backlinks (linking domains). I've been struggling to resist the temptation to try some spammy techniques to get backlinks to see what happens, but, at the same time, my brain says not to be an idiot.

Backlinks: What are they really and how can I create them.
I am relatively new to the SEO world, and I want to build backlinks linking to our main site. My preferred way to create backlinks is by adding them in my blog comments or forum responses. I am an active participant in a large number of blogs/forums related to our field and I would like to add relevant backlinks in the comments/answers I post. I originally thought that a backlink was just a link, but none of the links that I have added to blogs like that have been recognized as backlinks. https://www.dynaread.com/ Why is this so? I know now that good backlink would be something like: Dynaread is a science based dyslexia remediation program for older struggling readers. However I have no idea how to add this types of links to blog comments or forum pages where there is no link tool. Do I have to do something with HTML? Please explain briefly what a backlink really is and most importantly how I can create them. Thank you in advance for your help! Joy P.S if you have suggestions about some resources where I can learn more about the subject please let me know. I love to learn more.

Safe to link to another site you own?
Hi mozzers, I have some external links on a resource page on my established site. I have a new site in the same niche with content that if linked to, would improve the resource page. If I linked to it using branded anchor text, would it be safe? My thoughts are yes...as long as it adds value and isnt keyword anchored. The sites are on different C class IPs Would welcome some thoughts Peter

Building backlinks for a newspaper site?
Anyone have tips on building links to a newspaper site? I am looking for a strategy to create links to a news site beyond building one link at a time. We have so much content that is constantly updated that it would be impossible to do this one page at a time.

Directory Listing Quality
Have any of you ever purchased a directory listing with Absolute Directory (http:www.absolutedirectory.com)? I was thinking about suggesting it to some of my clients since it was inexpensive, had a good domain authority (58), moz trust (5.81), and didn't seem to be filled with any ads or obtrusive content. Any thoughts? Is this to good to be true? Regards - Kyle
