Local Search Location Keyword Use

Hello.
Whats the best way to approach the use of location phrases within the page content itself?
Say your based in a large city but also work in smaller surrounding areas, would you target the main location i.e. "London" on the home page and the main product/service pages directly. Or would you leave this all to deeper pages where you can more easily add value?
I can imagine that the inclusion of the location i.e. "London" might compromise the quality of the writing. And put off the users from other locations.
For example on the Home Page if your targeting:
Keyword: Widgets
Location: LondonWidgets in London and Beyond
For the best Widgets in London come to...
And for a key product or service page if your targeting:
Keyword: Car Widgets
Location: LondonCar Widgets London and Beyond
For the best Car Widgets in London come to...
On deeper pages its going to be easier to make this work, but how would you approach it on the main pages and homepage?

Glad those resources helped, and your follow-up question is one I'd answer with 'it depends'. When a business' city of location is the major city (like, let's say San Francisco) then, yes, I would strongly optimize all main page elements with that city, because - hey - it's the BIG city! But, let's say the business is located in a small town outside that city (let's say Mill Valley) and there are larger cities the business serves (like San Francisco), then I might be a little more sparing in overemphasizing the small town. So, this is really a case-by-case thing. You should experiment with different forms of optimization if the physical city isn't the major city, and see how this affects conversions. Hope this helps!

I can see from your examples how to add unique valuable content to the pages.
But would you go so far as my examples and add the location into the H1 tag of the home page and product / services pages?

Hey There,
Your city of physical location is your core city/core keyword, so yes, it would typically be a good strategy to use that geo term on your main pages (Home, About, Contact, etc.) and then develop city landing pages for the other cities in which you serve. This article should help:

I would definitely be looking at what the winners for these phrases are doing. I never advocate copying exactly what someone else is doing, but it can certainly save you many hours of head scratching and worrying.
It does sound like you need to spend some time coming up with a structure for the site that will work, but remember to make the pages as descriptive as possible, but don't stuff keywords and try not to have them sound like they were written by a robot.
You also need to be careful that you aren't creating pages that are too similar as this will also compromise your work and try not to make everything too 'boilerplate'.

Local Strategy for Multiple Domain Integration
Hello, We are a locally driven business with two locations. Currently, each location has its own local site and are linked to from our central domain (3 domains total). We are discussing whether we should integrate the local sites into location pages on our core domain. However, we would also prefer to keep the ‘local’ domains live. Is this a viable strategy and what would we need to do to ensure the local sites won’t cannibalize our efforts with the main domain? Also, should we remove the contact information on those local sites to avoid NAP issues? The other option would be to build out the local domains but that could raise concerns over budget and potentially expanding into the future. And we would like the main domain to take presendence. A few additional notes on this: Each location has its own brand name and contact information. Traffic across all 3 sites is about the same. We are also considering using silos with sub-folders to build out local service pages. We understand how to set up location pages but are asking more in terms of overall strategy and ideal way to position all 3 sites. Any help or insight would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What Mystery Local SEO Factors Are At Play Here?
Absolutely perplexed on the ranking factors for Google Maps (hence also the 3-pack in normal search results). Are seeing search queries that return 3-pack and organic result like this and wondering why these sites are getting 3-pack preference?Not that sites 2 and 3 are no closer to the test user's location than Site 4. All 4 sites have a street address showing.3-pack result:#1 - Site 1 - No reviews. Same distance as Site 4 to user. #2 - Site 2 - 1 review for 1 star. Farther from user than site 4. #3 - Site 3 - 2 reviews for 5-star average. Farther from user than site 1, 2, and 4.#4 (not show in 3-pack) - Site 4 - 6 reviews with 6 star rating, closer to user than site 2 and 3.Organic results below 3-pack:#1 - Site 4#2 - Site 4#3 - Other site#4 - Site 1Sites 2 and 3 not in top 10 organic non-map resultsSo what would be the most likely ranking factors keeping making site 1-3 rank above site 4 in the 3-pack/map results?If on-page and backlink factors were at play, you'd expect to see sites 1, 2 and 3 higher than site 4, and in the case of site 2 and 3 at least in the top 10 of the organic results. Using posts to make static pages - A best practice or a bad idea?
I have started working with a few law firms this year. They already have websites and I am doing various marketing tasks such as copywriting, redesigns, and, of course, SEO. In a couple of cases I was surprised to find that they had made the pages describing their various practice areas post content. I'm not sure why. But I suspect that the idea might have been to have the phrase: /practice-areas/ as a part of their URL. I didn't really like the idea of treating pages like posts. It seems a bit like working the system. But apart from that, wouldn't pages have a higher value as "permanent" content? As posts - their publish date has more weight, right? And they'd get old? But maybe the previous developers were on to something and the category/post approach to listing practice areas is the way to go? I am starting a new site for a new firm and I'd like to feel more confident about the right structure to choose for this kind of website before I start. Does anybody know the right answer? Thanks!

Local SEO - Multiple stores on same URL
Hello guys, I'm working on a plan of local SEO for a client that is managing over 50 local stores. At the moment all the stores are sharing the same URL address and wanted to ask if it s better to build unique pages for each of the stores or if it's fine to go with all of them on the same URL. Multiple location pages are they bad?
Hello all, I am research some competitors of a client of mine. My client specializes in H.P. printer repair and over the last 8 years has lost market shares to the competition. I want to reclaim market share. As I was searching some of the service companies many have page that list multiple towns that they service. here is an example. http://printerrepairservice.com/locations-we-service/ Should I be recommending this to my client? To me it seems like a spam keyword process. I know an employee of this particular company and he say their online business is booming. I want my clients to boom too! What are your thoughts on these location type pages?

Local Ranking Power of a Multi-Keyword URL?
Here is a site that is sitting at number 1 on Google UK (local results) for a number of its keywords: http://www.scottishdentistry.com/ If you look at the links in the navigation many of them have urls such as this: http://www.scottishdentistry.com/glasgow-scotland-dentistry/glasgow-scotland-hygienists.html These have clearly been created to be keyword rich. For example, there is no publicly-available page at: http://www.scottishdentistry.com/glasgow-scotland-dentistry Do you think this tactic has helped with the site's rankings? Is it worth imitating? Or will it ultimately attract a penalty of some kind? Remember this is in the UK where Google seems to be slower at penalising dodgy tactics than in the US. Thanks everyone.

Does the Location of my Server effect my SEO?
Does the geographic Location of my Server effect my SEO? HELP US! We are arguing for 3 weeks already. My partner has mentioned multiple times in the past that "since 2013 google does not require your server to be in the country you are targeting for seo"

And that actually all they care about is if its a good and fast server - not where its physically located in the world. I am a strong believer that the geographic location of your server directly effects your SEO ranking... lets say if you want to target www.google.ru for your seo, best you have a server located in Russia for hosting your website.. WHO IS RIGHT? Choose the winner and base the facts.
If anybody has the correct answer and information to base it on it will help us alot - and maybe even spare some unnecessary violent between us two! we found some articles across the web, sadly they are all dated back to 2012.... Thanks in Advance for all the help guys!0
