1 multilingual site, 2 domains in different languages.

My client wants a multilingual site: English and Spanish but with a domain name in both languages:
And
Is it possible? To have 1 site with both domains pointing each one to its version? and how this affects SEO?
-
I agree with Nigel and Google. You will be spliting link juice between two domains rather than building a single domain using langauge subfolders. The language of the page should be documented in the html tag. https://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-html-language-declarations This is the way to go.

Hi Trazo
I would work on developing a simple brand name without a generic word in it that can be used in every country as a .com. I would then use subdomains to set up country and language-specific sites.
So make the site name 'Jorgevolo' or some clever multi-national name.
Then:
jorgevolo.com/us/en for the English version in the US
jorgevolo.com/us/es for the Spanish version in the USMany multi-national companies do it this way and you don't see Marks & Spencer, Microsoft or Nike trying to translate their brand names do you? One brand name= one brand logo and a much easier multi-site to manage on one IP/server etc.
Then place an hreflang tag on each version and also a link between versions.

I hope that helps

Nigel

Regional sites built on different platforms - will this solution for international targeting work?
We are working with our dev team on a few upcoming user stories to improve store.hp.com. We came across a question which isn’t clear in the international targeting documentation. Within http://store.hp.com, we have a number of regional stores, but those are often built on separate platforms. Therefore a story developed on the US infrastructure doesn’t carry over to Canada and so forth. The Canada Store is managed by a different team, so that story needs to get scoped, prioritized, etc. independently. In regards to helping Google understand page equivalence, will Google accept the page relationship if we include hreflang tags exclusively in the sitemap for the US site and exclusively as page-level markup for Canada site? For example: http://store.hp.com/CanadaStore (hreflang notation at page-level): http://store.hp.com/us/en" /> http://store.hp.com/CanadaStore" /> http://store.hp.com/us/en" /> http://store.hp.com/us/en (hreflang notation within sitemap file): <loc>http://store.hp.com/us/en</loc> rel="alternate" hreflang="en-ca" href=" http://store.hp.com/CanadaStore" /> rel="alternate" hreflang="en-us" href="http://store.hp.com/us/en" /> Appreciate the help anyone can give! Redirecting a questionable domain to a trusted domain
I have a question!
Technical SEO | | FDFPres
We have 2 domains operating within the same retail sector. One of them is for our bricks and mortar business and the other is a new brand we launched as a nationwide e-retailer. We aggressively built links for the new one and achieved some very good search positioning, where we remained for about 4 months until the google updates of the first half of this year started biting. The domain never received a warning from google or anything, but the links have clearly been devalued to a point where the domain is now virtually buried for the most competitive terms. However, the domain does still get around 100-200 visitors per day, and has a DA of 38. We're thinking about a reshuffle that would involve putting the products in to our brick and mortar business website, and redirecting the brand domain to the bricks and mortar domain. Thank you for reading this far! the question is then, is there a danger of the bricks and mortar domain being tarnished by this? as i said the brand domain hasn't had any notices of penalty from google but it has definitely been hit by updates.0 -

Best way to setup large site for multi language
Hello, I am setting up a new site which is going to be very large, over 250,000 products. Most of our customers are in the UK (45%), the rest are from various European countries and the USA. Unfortunately we only have a team of two people writing content for these pages in English. I would value some input on the best way to setup my website structure for ranking. Obviously the best would be individual country oriented domains I.e. domain.fr domain.de domain.co.uk . However we wouldnt have the time to create content for every page and most pages would contain the same content as the English domain. Would I get a penalty for this from google? The second choice is to follow the example of overstock.com and pull in information relating to each country I.e. currency and delivery time. this would be a lot easier but I am concerned that the lack of geo focus would effect my rankings. Does any one have any ideas?

Why Did Domain Authority On Our 2 Sites Drop 10 Points?
Greetings, I am new to the community and am checking out Pro. The domain authority for two of our sites www.lumber2.com and www.americasworkclothes.com has dropped 10 points each respectively. I've worked on getting our lumber 2 site on registries from getlisted.org (i think there are 5 or 6 of them). Our page authority has improved significantly along with mosrank and moztrust. However, at the same time our domain authorities just tanked 10 points each. Since each site dropped 10 points, I'm wondering if its the ros links affecting them. Here's the domain data: Lumber 2 site: DA 21: 50,489 links from 12 domains
Technical SEO | | AWCthreads
America's Work Clothes: DA 20: 33,839 links from 5 domains We have left nav run of site links between our two sites and have had them in place for a couple of years with steady domain authority progression. Suddenly DA tanked. Is there a chance there is too much run of site linking? I already removed a few links, so you won't see all of them. Can anyone help? Thank you. Steve0 -
Should I create mini-sites with keyword rich domain names pointing to my main site?
Hi, I'm new to seomoz (and seo in general) and loving it so far. My main domain name is more of a brandname than a search engine friendly list of keywords. I rank well for some keywords I optimized for, and less so for the more competitive keywords. I was wondering if making one page minisites hosted on keyword rich domain names could help in this respect? What I want to do is just have a single page with a few paragraphs of content and links to the main site. I am not looking for links to boost the main site, just for the minisites to do better for several keywords. Will this help? Is this ok, or against some Google policy? Can this hurt the main site rankings? Thank you! **Edit: **I noticed that sites ranking above me on the first page for some keywords have much less on-page elements than my page, have about the same domain trust and also very little inbound links. The only factor I can see is the exact match of keywords in the domain name.
