Google My Business - What is the best way to remove "Duplicate Address"? Help!
-
Google can be such a pain with managing listings - especially when you are an agency managing a client's listing! I am hoping someone can help with this...
How do I permanently delete a “duplicate address?”
In the Google My Business dashboard (classic view), under account summary – I click duplicate locations. From here, I can easily remove a duplicate location - that is not the issue.
The issue is for duplicate addresses. For this, we only have the option to resolve address, which directs you to the business’ location details.
Our options are then to:
1. Change the business NAP
2. Permanently close location
3. Remove the listing from your dashboard (removing it from dashboard doesn’t delete it from Google).
We edited the business’ name, phone number, address and website – to try and make it a duplicate location, because if we are able to make it a duplicate location then we know we will have the option to **Remove Duplicate. **Nothing has changed though.
We don't want to mark this as a permanently closed location because if somebody does come across the listing down the road it is going to be misleading. The business is not actually closed!
Any insight would be very much appreciated.
Thank you!

What a kind offer, Ben. Hopefully, if Bcallegary hasn't already taken steps on this step on their own, they will see your post here with such a nice offer to help.

If you visit en.advertisercommunitiy.com and tag me, I may be able to assist you.
I will need the name address and phone number of the listing along with a link to the live listing and the same for the duplicate (follow Joy's guide)
More than likely, removing the duplicate is going to solve the issue unless the wrong listing is the one showing in search.
In that case, removing the listing you want merged will be the way to go, which Twitter support can help with or I can escalate.

Hi there!
I would recommend contacting the GMB support team via Twitter - they are highly responsive and fix things very quickly
Hope this helps!
Cheers,

Hello There!
I believe what you are referencing is the red "Duplicate Address" label in the Status column under Locations in your GMB dashboard. Google uses this label if there are two listings at the same address, and I know, it's frustrating!
I highly recommend reading this recent tutorial by Joy Hawkins on this topic: https://www.sterlingsky.ca/resolve-duplicate-addresses-google-business/
I think you'll find it's just what the doctor ordered!

Google My Business -Choosing Multiple Categories
Hi friends, I'm trying to work out what would the practice be for a business who is operating in different categories in terms of displaying those categories in Google My Business account. We have a client who is supplying both catering and cleaning products (both categories are core). In this case, listing those two categories in GMB would be alright or should I expect a negative impact on results related to both categories as we have chosen multiple categories? Any advice would be appreciated greatly!

Structured data for business listings
If I have a page of 20 local business listings, do I need to provide structured data for each business listing? is that necessary and would it help with SEO? So if I have a page of Vancouver Brain Injury Lawyers, and list off 20 local law firms that focus on that type of injury, should I have structured data for each law firm that I list?

Beauty salon and chiropractor sharing the same address
Hi There. I have my very first client who wants me to help with her GMB profile and online visibility in general.
Local Listings | | coolhandluc
She rents a space at a chiropractic clinic (she is a one man band so doesn't need much room).
The owner of the chiropractic clinic has a GMB profile and the beauty therapist has hers too but obviously, they both share the same address. Is this going to be an issue since they both run different businesses under different names and both have different phone numbers? They would only have the same address.
I don't want to screw this up so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Duplicate Google Plus and Google My Business Listings
My business has duplicate listings for both Google + and Google Places or Maps or My Business or whatever it's called today. Of course the listings that I want to show are marked as duplicates, and the only option is to remove the duplicates. Is there any way to merge these listings or switch which one Google recognizes?

Our name is Brighton College, and the other business is Brighton College, however they are from the UK. They are showing up on the right hand side with their wikipedia page and on Google Maps and we aren't, but I'm searching in Canada on Google.ca across the street from our college. Any idea on how to fix this? Thank you!

Doing some analysis for a clients and it have come to our attention that some of the competitors in this area have 16 to 18 categories, many duplicate and keyword stuffed. I tried to find a specific action to report this to Google, I am aware you can report spam for websites does this apply to the places pages as well? Can you just use the report abuse or report spam links? Anyone have any experience with this type of action with Google? Thanks.

Google custom url options - Brand Name or Keyword
Hi All, Recently we were given the option to choose from two custom urls for a car dealership's G+ page:
Local Listings | | EEE3
+brandname
+locationdealershipbrand Made up example:
+scottford
+nyford My gut tells me to choose the +brandname option, but curious to see if anyone had any other input about how the "location + dealership brand" custom url choice could impact local search results, if at all. (I was surprised that it even came up as an option because to me it echoes EMDs...) Thoughts? Thanks!0
