Ranking keyword VCA
-
We want to rank higher on the keyword VCA. Our direct competitor VCAnederland ranks one place higher and we want that place. If we look at some statics from the Open site explorer, we score better.
PA: VCAdirect = 53 VS competitor = 46
DA: VCAdirect = 43 VS competitor = 39
Total links = VCAdirect = 8415 VS competitor = 3051
External followed links = VCAdirect = 8178 VS competitor = 1059
Linking root domains = VCAdirect = 146 VS competitor = 105
SEOmoz competitive Domain Analysis (gives other numbers)
DA: VCAdirect = 44 VS competitor = 40
DMozrank: VCAdirect = 4.30 VS competitor = 4.50
DMozTrust: VCAdirect = 4.00 VS competitor = 4.18
when I analyze the site with the SEOmoz tool.
We see this figures:
VCAdirect:
PA: 53 / MozR: 5.89 / MozT: 5.89 / Tot links 8415
VCAnederland:
PA: 46 / MozR: 6.95 / MozT: 6.16 / Tot links 3051
On the on page Report card we score both an A.
Where should we focus on to win the position?

Social links seem to be effective in boosting rankings. I would focus on getting facebook shares and tweets to your URL. Just be sure to be non-spammy when you go about it. Try to create a genuine social presence for your brand/website and as the links trickle in here and there you should see a little boost.

How to break into a serp dominated by large companies? (but low keyword difficulty)
I'm currently doing some keyword research, and on favourable keywords such as: "weekend breaks in lake district" (320 searches per month with 39% keyword difficulty), I see that all of the first page SERPS are from larger companies (last minute, centerparcs etc) How likely will it be that I can get on that first page, assuming I am focusing my page on that particular keyword. Sparse info I know, but I didn't want to spend hours going down a dead end street. Is it simply that these larger companies are in the top 10 because there are no specific pages targeting that keyword, or do I have little chance?

Confused about sites ranking when compared to each other
I'm looking at the keyword "snow guards" for two competitor websites: snogem dot com (SG) snoshield dot com (SS) I've been watching these two for about 4 months. SG stays in the top 5 SERPs consistently, while SS bounces around from 15-20 on Google. I've looked at the competitive link comparison and SS appears to have a much better link profile when it comes to DA. Page specific metrics in OSE show SS with a higher mozrank, moztrust, internal followed links, linking root domains, total linking root domains, and linking C Blocks. It appears to me that SG has many more links, but their links seem to be many site wide exact match keyword links, and paid for advertisements on a major site in the metal roofing industry. Honestly the linking profile of SG surprises me that they rank so much higher than SS after the Panda/Penguin updates. I have two questions: 1. When competing against these sites, should I model SG's link profile? I'm nervous to because of my previous statement thinking they will get hit with Panda/Penguin like updates. 2. What would it take to bounce SS to competing with SG on the first page? Is the number of links the only thing this site is missing, or is there something else to focus on.

How a site only with Frame can be at #1 google in a competitive keyword?
Guys, I need help. I have a company in Brasil and due to lack of budget, I'm doing the SEO for my self. And for two years Im reading everything that I can to do my best in my website. I worked very hard, but the #1 in the most important keyword for my company is a very bad website only with frames. What they are doing? Could anyone give help? Keyword: "acampamento"

How can I find the pages on my site with the highest page rank?
I have a lot pages on my site and I'm wondering if there is a tool out there that will find all the pages with the highest pagerank for me? Also, it would be helpful to find that on competitors sites as well. Any ideas?

How can a site rank higher when you beat them by A LOT on virtually every SEOMOZ factor?
Any insight into what's driving these results would be appreciated. Another site ranks #6 and we rank #22 on a keyword that scores 67% for "Keyword Difficulty", but we score significantly higher than them on almost every ranking factor including having nearly 10 times more backlinks along with higher PA and DA scores, etc. Here is a comparison from the Keyword Difficulty Tool report. Competitor Ranking High has 2 Domains, But Duplicate Website ?
I was using OSE and noticed all the backlinks to one of our competitors is there other domain name, which is the EXACT SAME website. You can enter both url's and they display the same content. They are not useing any canonical tags either. Why are they not penalized for duplicate content? And for using there own website for backlinks ? We try to do everything right, but still cannot beat them. Any thoughts on this?
