I need a fresh eye on this project, as I ran out of ideas
-
I know generally it's not a good idea posting project urls, however this time I'll break the rule as I could really use some genuine ideas: I just can't explain my rankings.
So I created a small site, branded term, english language, I will use my British ranking data, you can use justproxy.co.uk to verify if you'd like. Site is 2 years old. My main keyword is Breast Actives, however my I describe the strangest phenomenon after the bullets. Site: http://buybreastactives.info
So the point is:
- I did a little keyword stuffing back in the days, but removed it, took a safe middle density (analyzed the first rankers keyword usage).
- I've been looking at competitors backlink profiles comparing them to mine. The growth rates are similar. I have a little lower Domain and Page authority than the first few sites, but not that lower.
- Backlink quantity is somewhat similar to first 20, yet still I am ranking somewhere way beyond 200. I am not expecting a first place with a "somewhat similar" profile, but my bet is I should be at least in top 50.
The only technique that worked was regular posting, I brought up the site into top 70, but as the site is really focused on a particular product, and the site's brewity suffered the price of posting semi-related articles, so I stopped. Rank out beyond 200.
Another intresting aspect I cannot get my head around is that for "breast actives reviews" I have a dedicated page buybreastactives.info/real-customer-reviews, with some keyword usage, and another page buybreastactives.info/worldwide is ranking for it (around 80-90), but it does not use this keyword at all.
So if you have some time to give it a glance I would be greatful for some thoughts.
EDIT: Before penguin around 2012 dec site was in top 10 for nearly all terms targetted, with the stuffed keywords.

Looks pretty spammy to me.
You say breast actives 4 times in about the first 50 words !
Plus in your title and your description.

Well, unfortunately due to the nature of such products, it is going to be very, very difficult for you to rank for this. Google keeps a close eye on these types of things because they are so often the subject of spam. Good luck!

On-site optimization: Do we need local terms inside subpages?
We're optimizing a franchise's website for local SEO, where each franchise location has its own page on the main corporate site. We've identified a lot of keywords which are relevant for each location. But I'm wondering if we need to include the location as part of the keyword we're optimizing for. For example, picture "best yoga studio" as a keyword that is relevant, and the franchise has locations in San Francisco and San Mateo. Do we need to optimize for "best yoga studio san francisco" on the San Francisco subpage and "best yoga studio san mateo" on the San Mateo subpage? Or do we optimize for "best yoga studio" and is Google smart enough to return the San Francisco page for San Francisco searchers and San Mateo for San Mateo searchers, without our additional on-page optimization? I should mention that the franchise sub-page is being submitted via Moz Local and will have all the Google business listing, consistent citations, etc. Thanks in advance, --eric

How defined does the anchor text need to be for a domain url?
Ok, I'm looking to clean up my domain with irrelevant Anchor text linking to specific URL's. Whether, it's my root domain or a particular product URL. I'm finding a wide variety of terms (anchor text) pointing to my homepage, category and finally my product pages. Example, the Anchor text "Paragon Print Systems" is pointing to my homepage "barcodefactory.com" does this hurt my homepage enough to either have the link/anchor text removed from linking to my homepage? thanks much!, Warren

Traffic Down - May Need Outside Help
Hi Moz Community - Our website (www.motivators.com) experienced a small traffic drop in mid-March. This was followed by a steady decline in traffic through May, June and July. Please note that a site redesign went live on April 4th. Starting in mid-July, we began implementing aggressive site improvements (mostly based upon site speed), but our traffic is still down. Can anyone recommend a service or company that can look at our site and determine the root cause / more strategies for improvement? Thanks for your suggestions!

New adsense account request rejected - need help
I'm moving my company to Australia, shutting down the US company. Google said I had to request a new Adsense account, so I did. They opened the account, I added the same ads, in the same places, and they have rejected my application. What do I do now? The other account has been open since 2004. They never said a word about this before. After two years of working on improvements, now I'm just about destroyed. I need some help, because I thought I knew what I was doing, but obviously not! As usual. their helpful response is no help at all. http://bit.ly/NPACk - there are no G ads on the front page http://bit.ly/V8ubB5 - this is a typical story http://bit.ly/UpTC2r - this is a typical press release As mentioned in our welcome email, we conduct a second review of your AdSense application once AdSense code is placed on your site(s). I need quality backlinks. Do they need to be similar to company website?
Our website seems to be well optimized. However I need to find more quality backlinks. I am having a hard time with this. Do backlinks have to related to the company? The reason I ask is because I can receive some links, but they do not relate to our company. BUT sometimes we have customers come to our facility and we book them a local hotel room and send them to near by restaurants. Is it ok to have local restaurants and local hotels links on our website and have them link to ours, on a page for customer visits. OR any other tips on receiving quality backlinks?
