Google Custom Search vendors and options
-
Hi everyone,
We're in the process of finding someone who will be able to help set up Google Custom Search on our site and are having some trouble - most agencies we were hoping could help solely focus on Google Search Appliance, a hardware-specific approach that doesn't suit our needs. Specifically, we'd like to replace our current site search engine with Google Custom search, as well as configure it as deeply as possible for the best search experience
I'm hoping people could give me some ideas on who might be able to help, or the best places to look.
Thanks in advance!

I've installed Google custom search engine (CSE) on multiple client websites. The $100 option is a good place to start, that gets you 20K queries.
Plus, over the past year Google has updated the features and UI allowing to easily customize the look and feel of the CSE. Attached is a screengrab showing the CSE UI.
Hope that helps!

For a simple installation you might be able to do this yourself. We just paid the $100 for a low end account, went into the the "Edit Search Engine" link and completed the "set up" questions.
Then we went into "Look and Feel", selected some options, pressed "save and get code". Now you have the code to slap into the site. Put that on an experimental page, upload and test. In under 30 minutes we were finished.
If you are happy with how it works and start getting a lot of traffic you can upgrade the account to accommodate the higher traffic.

Hey Josh,
I really do not think you need any kind of hardware-specific approach for this. All you need to do is some understanding of basic programming to do it yourself.
Please look at these guides for your reference:

Hope this should help you!
Thanks,

Is this a violation of Google guidelines and current industry best practices correct? Regarding Iran Facts
I have read Moz for a good deal of time but I have never been gotten involved, until now... While watching a YouTube video in the app on my smartphone an Advertisement came on Still screen shots located on my website www.dleichtweis.com This is a video of the advertisement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCQFm7PjWb8 I have reason to believing this is a violation of numerous polices, procedures, conditions and or best practices. My site just dropped out of the rankings completely. But if you look at the Google search above you will notice 2 things:
1. First page: 75% of space above the fold is dedicated to Google making money
2. Subsequent pages: It is like you don't actually search "Google" If you flip through a few pages what you actually search is:
agoda.com
flipkey.com
tripadvisor.com
homeaway.com Do I have a point or am I simply having a cynical day?1 -

What is triggering Google account suspensions?
Over the past 24 hours many of our clients have had their Google accounts suspended. The explanation has been: "After reviewing your profile, we determined that it has been used to impersonate another individual or mislead other users. This violates the Google+ User Content and Conduct Policy." We are NOT impersonating our clients, we have their permission. We are not misleading anyone, simply setting up profiles for our clients on Google+. This has not affected all of our clients, but a significant number of them. We cannot find a common variable between the clients that have been suspended, and those who have not. Some have had other Google+ profiles in the past, in another account, some have not. Some have been previously verified via SMS, others by phone. Some have posts in their profile, others have only the profile info filled out. Again, we are not trying to game Google, we are simply setting up authorship for them, with their permission. I have not seen much in the SEO community about this today, and this is NOT related to fake reviews. We do not partake in that kind of activity. We have written a post on the topic, and no matter how this shakes out, I think our take is solid. Authorship is changing the game, content is changing the game, trust is changing the game… and Google is getting serious about it. We have also seen this happen to our clients, to our competitors' clients, and to other marketing firms' clients, outside of our vertical. Does anyone know more about the topic, especially in regards to the suspensions over the past 24 hours?

Google Pushed Out Panda Update 3.9 Last Night
Google said it was rolling out a Panda algorithm last night. New data refresh of Panda starts rolling out tonight. ~1% of search results change enough to notice. More context: goo.gl/huekfHas anyone been affected yet ....I seem to see a jump in some newer sites less than 3 months old already for some rankings - I don't like seeing rankings that quick!Do you see anything?

Does it make sense to go after broad search with less competition vs. narrow search with very high competition?
We are in the process of analyzing our current site structure, on-page optimization and keywords to form a new strategy around our site. What we are finding with the keyword research we’ve done thus far is keywords that are shorter-tail have less competition, but far more searches than some of the long-tail keywords. For purposes of illustration I will give an example. Let's say we sell Wedding Cakes and the keyword string “Garden Wedding” has approximately 246,000 monthly local searches and medium competition, but “Garden Wedding Cakes” only has 880 searches and very high competition. We believe that if we create a very effective landing page for "Garden Wedding" with all kinds of great content surrounding "Garden Wedding" that we have a much better chance of ranking on page 1 than if we were to go after the term "Garden Wedding Cakes". Furthermore, the volume of search far exceeds the "Garden Wedding Cakes" and hopefully will reach a much larger audience. However, because "Garden Wedding" is such a broad term, we are concerned that we don't necessarily understand what folks are searching for vs, when someone types in "Garden Wedding Cakes" we know they are looking for a cake. Here are the questions we have: Targeting broader terms with higher search, has anyone implemented this type of strategy? We think in the long run, this will help us with exposure, but also with help our targeted page of "Garden Wedding Cakes" rank higher (if we can earn a great PR for the page "Garden Wedding". Would we run the risk of creating a higher bounce rate with this strategy for people who are looking specifically for Garden Wedding items/supplies, etc.. Is this a major concern? Could we monetize the effort put into new, rich content surrounding Garden Weddings, when we are in the business to sell Wedding Cakes? Any insight that one can provide would be greatly appreciated.
