Why are links not being added to my Domain Authority
-
I have just compared my domain authority with competitors and I can see that they are outscoring me on links from YouTube etc. Even though I have same set-up with regard YouTube and Squidoo etc and am also featured on Dmoz... these are not being added to my domain authority. Any ideas?

Hey Ryan... sorry to have shattered your illusion... lol!
Aaron was making me feel special so I guess we're both dumped! Haha...
Yeah, I'm new to all this in all hinesty but it still didn't make mcuh sense to me as like you say, it would be prety unlucky to have all my 'important' and highly ranked links fall within/without the 25% realm... its just confusing that one month I am above my competitors with regards the stats and then the next I am not because of 'missing' links. I'll keep an eye on it though and see what happens next time.
Thanks
M

The links are all pretty old (years as opposed to months) and were showing last time I checked in on SeoMoz (about a month ago) so I can't understand why they would just drop off...
-
How old are your links? It can take 2-3 months for new links to appear visible to Linkscape.

Link juice from links that are not on the page?
Hello, Thank you in advance for your help! I was doing research for backlinking opportunities by looking at competitor backlinks using Open Site Explorer and I ran into a puzzle. When I do an Open Site Explorer search for聽http://whatsdavedoing.com/ I find that link equity is being passed to the site from a number of pages on the聽http://www.travelsupermarket.com/ blog with the anchor text "What's Dave Doing" When I go to these pages and do a source code search I cannot find this anchor text. When I do a google search with the following: site:travelsupermarket.com "What's Dave Doing" I find that there are tons of items that come back with a list of blogs in their description: "Dec 5, 2013 -聽...聽foXnoMad 路 Inside The Travel Lab 路 itravelnet 路 The Mad Traveler Blog 路 The Mad Traveler Online 路 Uncornered Market 路聽What's Dave Doing?" Where is this coming from? What is going on here? Is this a linking tactic that sites use to pass link juice to contributors without linking to them directly? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Via this intermediate link?
I'm doing some work on an ecommerce site for an electronics distributor and I've been seeing these "Via this intermediate link" notations from GWT under our "Links To Your Site" section. 聽I understand how and why these notations would normally be displayed, however, these links are mainly coming from our direct competitors. 聽Fearing that we might be a victim of a negative SEO attack, I looked into the situation and noticed that all of the links are from PDF's (technical data sheets) provided by the manufacturer that both we and our competitors use on our product detail pages. 聽This still seems odd to me because, we download these pdf's and host them on our own site on our own servers under a completely different name (as I'm assuming our competitors do as well), yet, there still seems to be a connection between our sites through these PDF's. I've included a screenshot of some examples. 聽Since we have thousands of SKU's on our site - with technical PDF's for nearly all of them - we're seeing a lot of links from competitors sites. 聽I'm not sure if this is good or bad, I'm just trying to understand the situation more clearly. Has anyone had any similar experiences or some information from Google that might explain what I'm seeing here? fpWvB5T

Domain Name Keyword Change
Hello. I have a question. I currently have a client who is exploring the option of changing his domain name to one which includes a key word and his company name. Currently he is using a domain name which does not include a keyword and does not include his company name. I understand that with proper redirects we can keep a significant amount of the juice behind it and we aren't so concerned about the domain name change. However my clients only concern is this. His company and new domain have the words Best Buy in it. He is concerned about the words best buy being in the domain name as it would be directly competing with the electronics giants. Should this even be a concern? He isn't in the electronics business and the remaining of the domain would include a keyword which directly relates to his business. Any input would be appreciated.

Sudden and dramatic decrease in External Followed Links and Total External Links
I'm not sure how or why this has happened but from a span of a week my client's site went from 518 total external links to 97. 聽I also saw a dramatic decrease in traffic for that week as well. 聽I'm new to the SEO game but I have not made any changes to their content other than importing old blog posts that did not get migrated to their new host. Any thoughts? 聽www.cobbcountyattorneys.com Thanks! JC

Expiring Domains by Content
I use sites such as expireddomains.com and Snap Name sin searching for expired domains. All these sites let you do a keyword search based on the domain name, but does anyone know a site that lets you search by the CONTENT of the site rather than just the name? Thanks, Kevin

Analyzing Back Links - Says site A has back link to Site B but when I look at site B I can't find any back link to Site A. Why?
I am new to SEO Moz - It looks like incredible technology. 聽I was playing around with different websites to see where they had back linked to see how it works. Looked at a site called racingsecretsexposed [dot] come and it said that it had dozens of links to www.ndesignstudio.com such as: 聽ndesign-studio.com/blog/best-wordpress-sites?replytocom=893聽with link anchor text "laying horses" but when I do a search for the company name, or the anchor text "laying horses", or the owner of the company's name on ndesignstudio.com - nothing appears. Why not? Isn't the back link anchored by the text laying horses, which should link back to the racing secrets website? Thanks

Spying On Competitors Links
Hi There, I am looking for a tool that will allow me to learn about the new links our competitors get each month. Do you know a tool that lets you know each time your competitor has a new link?
