Google Analytics: Dashboard to show popular content per directory
-
Hello, I work for a furniture business and I would like to set up a dashboard in Google Analytics to show a table for each of the 10 sections to show the most popular content, ie.
/Sofas
/Sofas/black-leather-sofa | 987 PVs
/Sofas/brown-leather-sofa | 782 PVs
/Sofas/classic-material-sofa | 636 PVs
etc./Beds
/Beds/king-size-bed | 900 PVs
etcHow would I go about doing this?
Thank you

Hi there
In your dashboard, click "Add Widget". In this case, I think selecting a "table" widget would be best.
For the dimension, search for the "page" dimension. There's lots in there, but you just want to select "page" by itself in this case. For the two metrics, you can add "pageviews" and another one - maybe "avg time on page" or "% of new sessions". Whatever you think is most useful.
The most important step is setting up the filter. Click "add a filter" and then select "only show". In this case, you will want to only show "page" containing "/Sofas/", "/Beds/" etc. (minus the quotations of course).
You'll end up with something like this: http://i.imgur.com/0bPFfwL.png
Give the widget a title for reference, such as "Most popular Sofa Pages" and then click save.
You should end up with a report like: http://i.imgur.com/dFUHl0z.png
To rinse and repeat, all you need to do is go to the widget, click the edit icon, and then at the bottom of the popup will be a "clone widget" option. Do that, adjust the filter for each category you have, and you're done!
Hope this helps.

Hey Mozzers, I'm seeing more 'New users' than 'Users' in Google Analytics (see screenshot). This is over a 3 year time period. Any idea why new users would be greater than users? Thanks! 6lYmU0j

Google Tag Manager chrome plugin to diagnose Analytics issues
Hi I've just used Google Tag Manager chrome plugin to look at possible analytics issues on a clients site and it has reported that its Analytics ID is being tracked twice. 1 is Universal and the other is Universal Asynchronous And when i click the question mark next to the 'Where to Optimise' info in GTM this page is displayed with teh following info highlighted: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/asyncMigrationExamples ga.js is a legacy library. If you are starting a new implementation we recommend you use the latest version of this library, analytics.js. For exisiting implementations, learn how to migrate from ga.js to analytics.js. Since both versions seem to be on there surely i dont need to migrate but just delete the old non-asynchronous version ? Or do i need do anything else or additional ? All Best Dan

No Search Data in Google Search Console (Search Analytics)
Wondering if anyone has experienced 0 data in their Google Search Console (Search Analytics) and found possible solutions to retrieve data? We have a few clients who, prior to the update to Google Search Console, were getting data regularly in terms of the Search Queries report, but ever since the update to Google Search Console, they are no longer receiving data. As an FYI, both the www and non-www versions of the website are verified in Search Console and the XML Sitemaps and Robots.txt files are clean, tested and working fine. Any insights or experience of sites showing 0 data in Search Analytics? Any possible solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Google analytics and software applications
Hei Guys. I think i know the answer for this one but i thought i ask you in order to be 100% sure. Ok let's go.. So i set up url based goals in Google analytics. My website (what are running on WordPress) has google analytics enabled but just before customers makes desired action i have to send them to the application page. Trick is that the application page is not running on wordpress and doesn't have google analytic tracking. After customer fills the application form i send him to my /thank-you page on my wordpress site. My question is: Does the conversion still count because customer left my website for a minute in order to fill in the application form? Best Regards, Tauri

Alternative to Google Analytics
Hi from sunny Manchester! I'm looking for recommendations for alternatives to GA. I'm specifically looking for something which won't sample data and will give us accurate numbers. Our site is pretty big, it receives 6 million+ visits and 50 million+ pageviews/year. Any recommendations would be greatly received together with any good/bad experiences you've had with them. Thanks in advance, Brendan.

Can you get local search numbers/traffic out of Google Analytics?
With Google's new local search I am more curious as to market penetration on keywords that are now localized to my different US cities. I understand that you can separate out Google traffic based on regional Google domains, but I am curious if there is an effective way to separate out searches and keywords based on a my local US Metros? If google cannot do this, any recommendations on products that can? Thanks.
