Setting up .org and .net supplements
-
To help with DSEO we are consdering setting up a .org and .net of our brand name (the primary site runs off .com obviously). We are thinking that the net/org sites will:
-
Be one page that is optimized as we need (standard stuff like copy, title, alt-tags, meta desc, etc.)
-
Will be hosted on separate C-blocks
-
Will have a google sitemap that is submitted to Google Webmaster Central
-
Provides a link back to .com
Any other suggestions? Are separate C-blocks necessary?
Thanks,
b

We did some experiments:
One website was #1 for certain keyword for one location. Then we created different website for for same industry in different locality. We linked from main website to new website and surprisingly for same keyword the new website did show up on the first page even though it is more difficult locality to grow in.
What I'm trying to say if there is new domain perhaps it won't be bad idea to put a link to new website from Main site. Of course it is up to you.
-
Our goal though, is to have multiple listings. The primary domain has plenty of strength and thus the #1 positioning. Our goal is to stuff down #6 positioning. BTW, this is one of many tactics we are employing. If there is outright risk in doing this, please advise.
-
According our experience it is good to have one main domain and all other domains redirected to main. The reputation of the main domain should be growing faster instead of splitting all reputation to both domains.

My apologies, I didn't catch the DSEO part.
In order to stack the 3 listings, a 301 redirect would not help.
That said, in order to truly make use of each domain, be sure to include undeniably unique content, preferably specific to the nature of the domain's extension.
e.g. The .org could be a listing of organizations your company is a part of, non-profits to which you have donated, events you've sponsored, and any other charitable work you're a part of.
As for the .net, you could focus purely on the history of your company and staff, with some helpful content about your brand (YouTube videos you've produced, slideshare presentations, twitter feed, etc.)
I hope that helps!

Thanks Kyle, but will the 301 redirect be ranked individually on Google? Or will it comebine the listing with the .com address? Remember this is a DSEO effort and therefore we want to stack the top 3 listings.
-
This is a common practice, though in my experience it is better (and a LOT more natural) to buy other domain name extensions to protect your brand, and 301 redirect them to their .com counterpart.
This is what Google, Yahoo, and Bing do, so it's more than likely your best bet.

Set Placeholder Page ASAP or Wait For Full Website?
It can take some time for a new business website to get picked up by all the search engines and indexed. Let's assume it's going to take a month to build your new full-fledged business website. Would it be advantageous in the mean time to immediately launch the domain with an introductory website using a template site so you might have just two pages, a home page with logo, title, brief description of pages, a couple images, etc and a contact page. Would this help give the site a "jump start" on being indexed? Or could that do more harm than good by putting up something "quick & dirty" versus the complete website with much more content, that has been SEO optimized?

.net has replaced our .com rankings - what the heck?
We have a www.domain.net that domain forwards to www.domain.com. About 5 days ago, when searching for our brand term, I noticed that www.domain.net took the top position, and most of our www.domain.com rankings have dropped. The www.domain.net is set to forward to www.domain.com. Any ideas what could cause something like this to happen?

Https://www.mywebsite.com/blog/tag/wolf/ setting tag pages as blog corner stone article?
We do not have enough content rich page to target all of our keywords. Because of that My SEO guy wants to set some corner stone blog articles in order to rank them for certain key words on Google. He is asking me to use the following rule in our article writing(We have blog on our website):
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | AlirezaHamidian
For example in our articles when we use keyword "wolf", link them to the blog page:
https://www.mywebsite.com/blog/tag/wolf/
It seems like a good idea because in the tag page there are lots of material with the Keyword "wolf" . But the problem is when I search for keyword "wolf" for example on the Google, some other blog pages are ranked higher than this tag page. But he tells me in long run it is a better strategy. Any idea on this?0 -

What's the best .NET blog solution?
I asked our developers to implement a WordPress blog on our site and they feel that the technology stack that is required to support WP will interfere with a number of different .NET production applications on that server. I can't justify another server just because of a blog either. They want me to find a .NET blog solution. The only thing that looks decent out there is dotnetblogengine.net. Has anyone had any experience with this tool or any others like it? Thanks, Alex

Schema.org Implementation: "Physician" vs. "Person"
Hey all, I'm looking to implement Schema tagging for a local business and am unsure of whether to use "Physician" or "Person" for a handful of doctors. Though "Physician" seems like it should be the obvious answer, Schema.org states that it should refer to "A doctor's office" instead of a physician. The properties used in "Physician" seem to apply to a physician's practice, and not an actual physician. Properties are sourced from the "Thing", "Place", "Organization", and "LocalBusiness" schemas, so I'm wondering if "Person" might be a more appropriate implementation since it allows for more detail (affiliations, awards, colleagues, jobTitle, memberOf), but I wanna make sure I get this right. Also, I'm wondering if the "Physician" schema allows for properties pulled from the "Person" schema, which I think would solve everything. For reference: http://schema.org/Person http://schema.org/Physician Thanks, everyone! Let me know how off-base my strategy is, and how I might be able to tidy it up.
