Buying Links

Hello, I have talked to many SEO companies about their services and rates. I noticed that all of them will buy thousands and thousands of links once you first join. That is why they always want a start-up fee, so they can purchase the links.
I know the best method is doing it the ethical hard way of asking sites to link to them, but I dont have time to do that. I mainly want to know where the SEO companies buy their links from. I am figuring that them buying the links are not negatively affecting the sites or they would lose their clients if they got into black hat links. It must be good inorder for them to keep their clients.
I was interested in buying links, but do not know who to trust. Does anyone have a recommendation?

I am now more frightened then ever. But in a good way. I am sceptical that the only best approach is asking other sites to link. I just wonder if that approach if done by these big SEO companies, I doubt they go to each competitor and offer them tons of money for a good backlinks. But I know that is the White Hat approach.....
What else would be good white hat methods to find backlinks that do not take too much time? possible a service?
I am also trying to get my blog up in the ranks too. Maybe its a good idea to play russian roulette with the blog first.

Not long ago I was standing in your shoes. I did spend some time doing research in hopes of finding someone reliable. I asked the right questions, and recieved the answers I was looking for. Unfortunately, I went forward with the process, turned out poorly for me. The quality was very bad and I feel it definitely did not add value to my website. Would I do it again? Nope........ Thatsj ust my two cents.

I have been watching SEO forums for a long time and can tell you that lots of people arrive there for the first time and post... WAH! My SEO got my site banned! Puleeeezzeee help me! So, they are not all keeping their clients happy.

I think that you have two risks.... Trust is the one you identified... and.... Under the radar is the one that you need to consider. Anyone who answers your question in an open forum isn't under the radar.

Hi Ian, I agree with Ryan about the risk involved, but yes, buying links is something that many people do specially in saturated highly competitive markets, so you could pretty much go one of two ways: ask to buy the link directly from the website, when you email someone offering them money, its pretty certain that they will mail you back, this gives you a chance of selecting the best websites to buy the links from and you make a business connection, the other way is buying from a link broker, like these guys textlinkbrokers.com, which i don't really like because the offer the same websites to everyone, they lose value, many of their sites get flagged by Google, i think the risk comes a lot higher with them.
If you plan on buying links, buying them directly from the website is better, find great sites and offer to buy "advertising" in the form of text links on strategic places (like within content), or offer them to buy a guest post with links to your site. Just keep in mind, buying links from good sites is very expensive, you will need a big budget.
There are also some link building services that do it cheap with spam comments, repetitive article submission and so on, you don't want these links, those are low value and could hurt your site.
Once again, buying links is risky, you could get your site (or client's site) penalized or banned from search engines. So here is the disclaimer: do it at your own risk.

This is always a risky endeavor. It may work in the short term, but for the long haul my money is on the search engines getting better at detecting this sort of thing and ranking sites accordingly.
I realize I'm not specifically answering your question, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who will recommend a link buying service on seomoz.

Advise / Help on Bad Link Removals

Im new to the community and new to backlinks - hence the question to the community today.
I would like help understanding options and work load around back links and removing them.
I have a client with over 8000 back links as a few years ago he paid someone about £10 to boost his rankings by adding thousands of backlinks.
We fear this is having a bad effect on their site and rankings organically as 90% of these back links have a spam score of over 50% and also no follows. My questions to the community (if you could be so kind to share) are:
1. Whats the best way to decide if a Backlink is worth keeping or removing
2. Is there a tool to decide this or assist with this somewhere on the internet? Ive had advise stating if its not hurting the page we should keep it. However, again...
How do I know what damage each Backlink is causing to the domain? I appriciate anyones time to offer some advice to a novice looking to clear these1 -
Subtle line of asking links for money/service/benefits
Hello here, I am putting down a link building strategy according to the latest "good practices" and Google recommendations, but I find myself often confused. For example, I'd like to implement the technique suggested by Rand on his article below: https://moz.com/blog/headsmacking-tip-1-link-requests-in-order-confirmation-emails But if you look at the comments, a user suggests to "ask for links in exchange of discounts", and everyone there applaud him for the idea (Rand included). But, wait a second... am I the only one realizing that now days Google discourage to ask for links for "money, services, or any other kind of 'offered' benefit"? So.. where to draw the line here? Here are other examples that I am not sure are "safe" in link building: 1. Ask for links in exchange of a free Membership on a site (where usually a Membership is sold for a price) 2. Ask for links in exchange of exposure (isn't this a sort of "link exchange"?) 3. Ask for link in exchange of "anything else you can think of", even if necessarily doesn't involve money (i.e. for a "certified site badge", for a free e-book, or anything else) I'd really like to know your thoughts on this very sensitive issue. Links Identified in WMT not on Webpages
Hi, We're currently reviewing one of our clients backlinks in Google Webmaster Tools, Majestic & OSE as we can see many toxic links. However we cannot find the links on the webpages that are listed on Google WMT. We have searched through the website along with checking through the source code. Should we still disavow the domain? What are effective ways of finding people to link to my blog post?

Should we remove our "index" pages (alphabetical link list to all of the products on the site)?
We run an e-commerce site with a large number of product families, with each family having a number of products within it. We have a set of pages (26 - one for each letter A-Z) that are lists of links to the product family pages. We originally created these pages thinking it would aid in discoverability of these pages to search engines, of course as time has gone on, techniques like this have fallen out of favor with Google as it provides negligible value to the user. Should we consider removing these pages from the site overall? Is it possible that it could be viewed by Panda as resembling a link farm? Thanks in advance!

What do you say in your emails to horrible sites to remove your links?
Morning guys, I've the unenviable task of having to rectify poor link building (a previous company's work, not mine) which inevitably means emailing tons and tons of horrible directories with links to the client from as far back as 5/6 years ago. I'm sure many of you are in the same boat so it begs the question: What have you said to these types of sites that is effective in getting them to remove the links? This could even be a two/three-parter: If you've had little joy in requesting removals, have you dis-avowed the links, and what (if any) effect did it have? Thanks, M.

Best way to handle SEO error, linking from one site to another same IP
We committed an SEO sin and created a site with links back to our primary website. Although it does not matter, the site was not created for that purpose, it is actually "directory" with categorized links to thousands of culinary sites, and ours are some of the links. This occurred back in May 2010. Starting April 2011 we started seeing a large drop in page views. It dropped again in October 2011. At this point our traffic is down over 40% Although we don't know for sure if this has anything to do with it, we know it is best to remove the links. The question is, given its a bad practice what is the best fix? Should we redirect the 2nd domain to the main or just take it down? The 2nd domain does not have much page rank and I really don't think many if any back-links to it. Will it hurt us more to lose the 1600 or so back links? I would think keeping the links is a bad idea. Thanks for your advice!

Is OSE data reliable and removal of malicious inbound links?

Yes, I know Google will theoretically and maybe eventually "ignore" such links, but that will be on Google time 4 weeks or 4 years - who knows. Plus, with a younger site with a thinner link profile - anything like the links above can't be helping me......
