SEO Targeting: Ideal monthly keyword search volume?
-
What's your SEO sweet spot for monthly keyword search volume*?
At what volume do you actually expect to see traffic?
(I know this depends heavily on competition for said keywords).
(*Currently measuring volume via Google AdWords Keyword Tool / SEOmoz keyword difficulty tool. || Comparing exact match and broad match.)
-
I agree with EGOL, and would add, we have several successful SEO clients that if you look at the keyword volume of there services, it's to low to even show up. Bigger ticket, needs less volume. Smaller ticker, lot's of volume.
-
This is what I do too. I have found that the keywords tool is stupidly inaccurate.
-
I don't use monthly keyword search volume when making optimization decisions.
As long as I have top-quality content my philosophy is like this....
"Do not fear competition because where there is competition there is also a lot of traffic and where there is a lot of traffic there is money to be made."
.... so, I optimize my pages for the most logical keywords that the content merits. If they are easy that is good - I should get top rankings. If they are difficult that is good too - because there will probably be a lot of searchers and I expect to get visitors from long-tail queries.

Unsolved How to find keywords your competitors rank for but you don't?
Hi, I'm just digging through Moz pro at the moment, and really like the true competitor feature, but would like to be able to see the keywords our competitors rank for and we don't, rather than just the overlapping ones. Is this possible at all? Thanks

Competitor outranking us despite all SEO metrics in our favour
Hi, We are trying to outrank a competitor of ours on Google for around 100 terms that we are both clearly targetting. Our competitor currently 'wins' in the SERPS around 70% of the time, often ranking in the top 3 positions. The problem is, we are absolutely convinced that all onsite and offsite SEO metrics we are monitoring would suggest that our content should almost always place higher than theirs. Here is what I know: All pages on both websites are rated 'A' by the Moz on-page-grader tool for the phrases we are targetting, with virtually no tech issues to be addressed on either site Our domain authority is 10 points higher than theirs Neither of us have external links to the relevant pages on our sites (although we are working on some for ours) Our Page Authority is considerably higher on average - often by 10 points or more We have considerably more linking route domains, from better sites. Also many more total external links The HTML title and H1 headings of our pages contain the target phrases at the beginning - our competitors are the same. Although they often ONLY include the target phrases in their title, wheras in our title they might only take up 1/3 of the total characters We have images optimised for the target phrases on our pages. As do they. We use the target phrases roughly the same number of times in our copy text, as do they I have totally run out of ideas now for further optimising our site/pages to consistently rank better for these target phrases, although maybe these are a couple of factors that could be having an impact on the rankings: The structure of their website is perhaps optimised more for these target phrases - our site is much bigger, so perhaps our 100 pages are given less relevance on our site than their 100 pages? - but surely our stronger page authority would suggest otherwise? Perhaps Google is using page engagement statistics to determine that their site is 'betteer' than ours in terms of user appeal and engagment? Can anyone think of something that I might have missed? Is there another major ranking factor I have perhaps neglected in my research? I know link building strategies are a good way to approach this in the long run, but we are currently just concerned about why we are not already ranking better when clearly they are not undertaking any link building strategies of their own. Any help or pointers here would be enormously appreciated. Thanks Lou

How do I search for keywords or events within my facebook and twitter pages?
Hi all, I work for a bicycle component manufacturer. We have a group of different facebook and twitter pages each covering different aspects of our market ie: mountain biking, road biking, and urban biking. I am wondering if it is possible to apply the keywords function of moz to my firm's individual facebook and twitter pages? I would like to be able to search for specific products that we have launched in the past. I am trying to collect the amount of social media responses we have received for certain products. It would be great if I could even search for sentiments about the products we have launched. Thank you!

Does SEOmoz have a keyword visibility report / tool?
Know of a tool where I can show the overall success of a set of keywords, us vs. the competition? A visibility report where a #1 ranking is worth 30 points, #2 is worth 29, so on and so on down to #30 worth 1 point, outside of the top 30 is worth nothing. (something like this). Trying to show an overall visibility scorecard, not sure if I can do it here or with some other tool. Didn't see it on Raven. Thanks!

Tracking Local Keywords in Campaigns.
When selecting keywords to track in campaign mode, how should I enter the keywords for a company located in a city that shares the same name as another city in a different state? My assumption is that if you're searching for "Garden City Plumber" within Garden City Michigan that Google will know your IP and show local results (as opposed to results from Garden City California). If I want to track the key phrase "Garden City Plumber" in campaign mode how will SEOMoz know which city to deliver results for? Thanks in advance.
