Will putting images in a light box or photo gallery affect my image SEO?
-
A website that is very image heavy and would like to enhance the user experience with a photo gallery. How will this affect the indexing of these photos? Can I still add alt. tags and title tags to these images?
-
Well a light box actually has the code in the site, but just does not show all the images at once.
a) should make the page lighter
b) still has all the image links, ALT, and image description (usually included with light boxes)
So from an SEO standpoint, as well as a user standpoint, this is all great!
Your light box should just show/hide images that is already within the code, so yes, ALT and Title tags are good practice.
If this is not the case with your light box, will you please provide a link or code snippet?

Questions about optimization for Google Images
Hello all, I've got a few quick questions about optimization for Google Image search. Would be great if someone could help me out with these. Is it possible to track and seperate visitors that reach my website through the images presented in the SERP's? Should we avoid changing high ranking pictures on important keywords? If we need to change the pictures what would the best strategy be? Replace the original filename and alt tag of the picture? Keep the orignal pictures but change the location of the pictures to a new post on our website? Thanks in advance!

SEO And Images: 2014 Tips
What is a good "image" strategy? All I really know is to make sure to use images that you create yourself and/or images that are approved for free commercial use and add alt tags. Right now, just making sure all our pages have images and updating some of the lower quality ones would surely help us, but I'm hoping someone can add a little detail into how best to use images for seo, conversions and how to avoid slowing our site way down by adding more (we do have the smushit plugin which helps some). Thanks, Ruben Our site is www.kempruge.com

Implications of switching from one Gallery Plugin to another.
Most of my WordPress sites contain content that is supplemented with galleries. I've been using NextGen Gallery for a majority of them. I now want to switch to another plugin - which would involve recreating the galleries by re-uploading the images and they would be using an improved url structure. The pages receive a lot of traffic from Image Search but the images would have moved. Should I 301 every one of the old image links to the corresponding urls? The move to the new plugin is part of a content freshness and improvement strategy on some of the older pages but it also gives a massive UX boost to the pages which is very welcome. What do you think is the best course of action in this content removal/replacement situation?

Video SEO - Why are my videos not being indexed?
Hello All, I work on a site that has a lot of videos. The trouble is none of them are ranking. Here is an example of a page with a video on. If you click the play button you will see But none of these videos are being indexed, as you can see here. Is it because these videos are just mp4 files, rather than being embedded players (like SEOmoz use for instance)? Would embedding videos through Viddler / Wistia / Youtube etc help? Or is there some other issue at work here? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rich

[local seo] How to compete against e.g. yellowpages on Google Rank 1 - 4?
Hi Folks, How to compete against the big SEO-powered pages like Yellowpages in the SERPs? I mean, they have thousands of Rd -> Rd Links as well as super Page and Domain Authority. How has a let's say Dentist or Electrician a decent chance to compete against those? Does Google give credit to them because of the Content they have on their page? These yellowpages totally take the fun out of it for my clients. Answeres would really much appreciated. Thank you. For me it feels like Don Quijote.

Are there any negative side affects to posting the same video to both YouTube & Vimeo
I had heard that Google frowns upon duplicate content so if I were to post the same videos to both YouTube, Vimeo and others, could that have some kind of negative impact, such as the video showing up lower in the SERPs?
