What Pa and Da to Target ?
-
Hi,
So when building links what PA and DA do you like to follow.
I was thinking of building links with anything more then a PA of 10 and da of 30 should be fine.
Cheers,
Vishal

Keeping all the factors same which you mentioned and the only variable factor to compare are PA and DA then what you be your cut off numbers be as best ROI ratio in linking building?
I know you are seeking a number and, there isn't one for me. It would be easy to toss out a number but it simply would not be realistic.
The considerations for me are
-
how much time and effort will I expend to obtain the link
-
how much direct traffic is the link likely to offer
-
does obtaining this link lay the groundwork to make it easier for link acquisition down the line? In other words, am I establishing a relationship with a topical blogger or site owner?
Another important factor, what is the PA / DA of your existing site? While I value all "good" links, if my site is just getting started then a link from a PA 10 / DA 30 site like you mentioned can be a bit helpful. If my site already has a DA of 7x, then a link from a DA 30 site is a drop in the bucket. The link can still help in many ways such as broadening the link profile, offering good anchor text, direct traffic, etc.
It's all about ensuring your link building efforts are as efficient as possible. I seek to build links from higher DA sites, but if I happen to run into a low DA site I will spend a bit of time working on obtaining a link regardless of the DA. Sometimes you will be surprised. A site owner of a low DA site might approach you and say "hey, I also run site xyz (which happens to have a much better DA)".

Hi Ryan, I am impressed with your previous post. I never thought anyone would answer in this much detail. I understand your perspective and hence I would like to rephrase my questions to: Keeping all the factors same which you mentioned and the only variable factor to compare are PA and DA then what you be your cut off numbers be as best ROI ratio in linking building. Cheers, Vishal

There are numerous other variables to consider when link building besides the present PA and DA.
-
How many links are on the page? The more links on a page, the less value your link will receive.
-
What is the page's anticipated PA? New pages have a PA of 1. It can take 60 days before it's links are discovered. I would gladly build a link on a new PA 1 page if it was a quality page on a quality site. The PA of the page is likely to shoot up.
-
Is the current PA and DA real? OSE does not differentiate between "good" links and "bad" links. It only measures follow and nofollow. To the best of my knowledge, OSE does not differentiate between links in content and footer links. OSE also does not recognize links from sites in related niches versus generic or off-topic sites. It is all valued the same. I've seen some really obvious link manipulation where a site will have tons of links from chinese blog comments with PA 5x DA 7x+ pages. These links clearly boost the site's PA and DA but Google likely offers those links no value at all.
-
Traffic is a great consideration. Some sites provide great content but don't think about SEO at all. Some sites are not selling anything and don't care about rankings. Others offer content to members only. Both types of sites can be gold mines for qualified traffic even if the link is never seen or valued by a search engine.
It's up to each SEO to determine what kind of link building practices they choose to use, and what type of SEO they wish to practice (white hat, black hat or grey hat). If your only concern is PA and DA, then there are tons of porn sites with great PA/DA which are available for link building.

Non ecommerce site with high DA, being outranked by lower DA sites with ecommerce - help?
I have a website that we look after, up until January this year the rankings were really strong - the site has a much higher domain authority than the competitors, much more links and much more relevant content (all measured with moz's tools). About 6 months ago the rankings started to dive for national search terms. Now one thing ive noticed is that nearly all of the other sites in the search sell products online where we have no such function - could this be correlated - has anyone else experienced this?

2 sites with low DA and PA and unoptimised <title>outranking everyone for competitive search term - How ?</title>
Im doing some keyword research for a new client, Ive found 2 anomalies for competitive search terms where sites with unoptimised <title>tags, poor backlinks and other stats, (compared to the other sites listed in the SERP) are out ranking everyone and claiming the #1 spot</p> <p> The 2 search terms are :</p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"> <p dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=interior+designers+london&oq=interior+designers+london&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65j69i60j69i65l2j69i60.2784j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8">Interior designers London</a>- #1 new-id.co.uk - <a href="https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=new-id.co.uk&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=">OSE info</a></p> </li> <li dir="ltr"> <p dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=interior+designers+london&oq=interior+designers+london&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65j69i60j69i65l2j69i60.2784j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=interior+designer+london">Interior designer London</a>- #1 nstudio.co.uk - <a href="https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fnstudio.com%2F&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=">OSE info</a></p> </li> </ul> <p> (interestingly they hardly rank at all for any modification of those search terms)</p> <p> The only thing i could think of is that they both had some really good links using that exact anchor text, but ive been checking OSE for the past month both in the backlinks and the just discovered but couldnt see anything like that.</p> <p>I conducted the SERP checking from a laptop with a broadband connection based in London, although im not very local to either of these locations im about an 8th of the cities distance away from one of those location and about half a cities distance away from the other. So i dont think its a local skew thats causing the SERP rankings.</p> <p>For both sites i can see they had old domains which now redirect to the them :</p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"> <p dir="ltr"><span data-mce-mark="1">New-id.co.uk = </span><span data-mce-mark="1"><a href="http://newidinteriors.com/">newidinteriors.com</a> - <a href="https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fnewidinteriors.com&no_redirects=1&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=">OSE info</a> - PA1, DA1</span></p> </li> <li dir="ltr"> <p dir="ltr"><span data-mce-mark="1">Nstudio.co.uk = intarya.com - <a href="https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=www.intarya.com&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=">OSE info</a> - Da 32, PA43</span></p> </li> </ul> <p> Although the intarya domain was quite strong with good backlinks (but nothing above par comapred to the other sites the nstudio.co.uk site is now outranking, the anchor text was mostly natural with only some keyword anchor text from PA1 pages. </p> <p>The <a href="http://newidinteriors.com/">newidinteriors.com</a> didnt seem to have a backlink profile, both PA1 and DA1.</p> <p> Ive taken screenshots of the SERP pages below, but feel free to dig further</p> <p>Any idea what's going on here ?</p> <a download="HWkjmDf.png" class="imported-anchor-tag" href="http://i.imgur.com/HWkjmDf.png" target="_blank">HWkjmDf.png</a> <a download="A70jXse.png" class="imported-anchor-tag" href="http://i.imgur.com/A70jXse.png" target="_blank">A70jXse.png</a></title>

What are the pros and cons of putting all content under directory named after target keyword?
The question sounds complicated but is actually quite simple. We want to rank high for the keyword "publicity". Here are some facts: Google Keyword Research: Competition 0.02 & Global monthly searches: 22,200 SEOMoz Keyword Difficulty Tool: highly competitive We are producing plenty of editorial content every day on our online magazine which right now resides under http://mag.publiseek.com and we are thinking of renaming the magazine: "Publicity" and moving it to http://publiseek.com/publicity That way every new article will be under the publicity subdirectory. Of course we would redirect all the existing articles under the old structure to the new one using 301's. And we're hoping that with time we get the top position for the keyword publicity. I am interested to hear from the experts out there what are the pros and cons of this approach?

What am I Missing on a Simple Targeted Phrase?
We have a bundle product page with a unique title, description and image. Other companies have similar items, but not a duplicate of what we offer. There are a few key phrases that we are trying to target with this product because they describe the product perfectly by nature. There are other similar ranking conundrums on our site, but I chose to ask about this one because it is a fairly simple and straight forward case. Attached is the ranking difficulty tool results. From this test, I don't see any reason why the number 1 ranking is better than our page in the SE's eyes. We don't have any problems or warnings in WMT either. I'm open to ideas/suggestions on why our pages are ranked so much lower for a simple search term. I have tried tweaking the title, text and added internal/external links as well as built social indicators. Nothing is making the difference I'm expecting. Because this is a fairly non-competitive, low-income phrase, I figured it would be easy to move up the rankings. I'm almost thinking it has more to do with our site template/design than anything, but that's hard for me to say. [Our site is 19&20 in the report] 8MXHJ.png

Creating Sub Pages To Target Specific Keywords
Hi Guys, Hope you can answer this question. Our website is currently on the first page in position 6 for a competitive keyword, domain is 11years old and currently has a PR of 4. At the moment there are 4 competitors above us one of which as two listings, they have managed to do this by creating a page dedicated to the keyword. E.g www.ourdomain.co.uk/key-word.html. Do you think we would achieve a good ranking if we built the same page but with fresh content and links pointing to that page? Cheers.
