How bad is a negative MOZ rating
-
I have a wp site that has a negative rank, how bad is this? and is links the only way to convert this to a positive?
If its relevant the site is http://rnblog.co.uk
Results following websitegrader tool.
Website Grade 70
Moz Rank -1
Indexed Pages 255
Traffic Rank 10,932,429
Blog Grade Not Graded
Linking Domains 2
-
The -1 probably means that you don't have any yet. Wait until the next Linkscape update some time in August and see then again. Give it some time.

On my moz bar it is zero, when i tried website grader, (not sure on how reliable it is) it gave me -1 as in the text above.
But still 0 isnt good I believe I'd be happy with a 4. So ive been working on backilinks and im aware it may take a while, but is this the only way to get a good moz ranking. Or is their something in my optimisation, the reason i ask is because opensite explorer doesn't give me much info on it and my campaign highlights the obvious broken links and errors to me.
I also cant see my site on google on any page in natural searches. Again I put this down to the moz ranking as the traffic looked okay and was much higher than others and the indexed page i assume has to be okay being higher.

I didn't even knew there was a negative MozRank. My MozBar doesn't show negative, it shows only positive on root domain and 0, 0, 0 on page. Where did you get -1 from? Printscreen?

How to explain to a client that duplicate content is bad...
Afternoon! An SEO client of ours has copied a load of landing/category page content from other sites. Lots of emails have been sent back and forth asking them to remove it, but they are adamant to keep it up there until we have time to amend it. We have explained to them: The Google penalty risks The copyright risks The short and long-term implications for their brand new business/website The money they are spending on our SEO package could be completely wasted if they're caught I think the above is pretty black and white, but the director of this company will not budge. Does anyone have any different approaches? The director said he's happy for us to amend the content but, in the meantime, the plagiarised content will not be removed. Cheers, Lewis

Timeline on Moz's About Page
There has been a lot of talk about improving “About” pages on websites as of late. Moz actually has a really interesting About page, which includes a timeline. Are there any recommended WordPress plugins that can achieve a similar timeline effect?

EMD vs brand? I'm new to moz
Hi to all so this is my first month using moz tools. When I check my competitors and keywords, everyone close to google #1 is a emd site But with google always getting smarter, is it smart in order to compete to get an emd? So say I rank first page #9, or not at all for my brand, if since my site is a construction site, if instead of say abc construction.com I find colorado home builders.com etc would I maybe do better? Or would google give me a bad ranking? I am just so lost? One last question? If I did build a emd site then just pointed my brand to it, would this be good or stupid for seo? thank you for all advice and tips chris

Redirecting to an exact match root domain: good, bad, or neutral?
We have a client who wants to secure an exact match domain for their new website, but it's very long. They're wondering about securing an additional domain that is much shorter for marketing purposes (business cards, email addresses, etc). We would then 301 redirect the short domain to the main domain. Are we going to see negative SEO implications from that?

How best to approach archiving badly optimised content
I signed up SEO Moz about a month ago as i'm currently rebuilding my site from scratch and wanted to learn from current mistakes. At present I use the forum software Invision Power Board to manage my site and one thing i've learnt is that it is terrible for SEO, there are so many thousands of errors listed by the crawler that it's not even worth trying to fix it. However because it has 5 or 6 years worth of content alot of which is on Google I don't want to totally remove it, rather I would prefer to archive it of with a big banner at the top letting anybody that visits it know that it's no longer in use and pointing them to the frontpage. I should note that it is in a subfolder already so the location of any of the links won't be changed. So the few questions I have are: The forum index has alot of link juice and I would like to redirect that to the new forum index, however for archive purposes the old index still needs to be accessible. Some topics are very popular and appear high in Google and have alot of backlinks. The important information in these forum topics will be available elsewhere on the new rebuilt site. Again I would like to redirect both link juice and users to the new page, however being a forum topic there are tens or hundreds of pages of old comments that need to still be accessible for reference. There are bound to be duplicate meta title and description issues with new similarly named categories appearing both on the new site and the old forum, is this going to be that much of a problem? So really what i'm asking is, how should I go about archiving this of without destroying content and rankings, but still making sure that the new stuff is getting the right exposure both to users and search engines alike?

Footers... Good or Bad?
I know in the past footers have been seen as a bad idea. I need to get up to date. Does having footer links that point to your own site with anchor texts keywords create problems? or is it safe to have? Will it do anything to our google rankings? Is it going to penalize us? As well, how many is acceptable, do I want all 77 links or have 15 with sub-categories?
