What qualifies as a authoritative domain?
-
As SEOMOZ ranks Authority through percentage, at what percentage does a domain become authoritative?
I'm looking for guest blogs/websites, which have a authoritative root domain to try and help increase our own auth and in turn rankings.
So far I have found a few guest blogs, which have around 40-50% but I kind of think I need to find ones which are more like 70-80% for this to really work.
Cheers

The advantage of guest blogging is you are exposing your site to an established audience.
If you take any given topic there are going to be power users who have may receive RSS feeds from all authoritative sources and visit many sites; however, most people will have one or two favorite sites and stick with them. By adding an occasional guest blog to a site, you are presenting yourself to the site's audience. Those who find your article helpful or interesting may follow a link back to your site. That is what I consider to be the primary advantage of guest blogging. If that link is followed, then you have also diversified your link portfolio a bit as well.

Ok,
Guest Blogging is new to me so let open this up a bit for me to learn
What are the benefits of guest blogging? Every SEO I have spoken to have said its like gold dust.
You say you guest blog on the most relevant websites possible with auth coming in 2nd, are you doing this because you are trying to target the most relevant audience possible or because you believe relevance of the website is more important then auth when it comes to ranking?

We do a fair amount of guest blogging at the moment and try to find websites which are as closely related to the industry. Authority is a secondary concern and only helps in sorting and prioritising of already found opportunities. There are other factors such as traffic, social reactions and citations of the content you publish. However if we stick just to authority (since that was your question) I personally treat it on a sliding scale. A 40% as you say may be authority in one industry and 80% may not be enough in other. Compare: stamp collecting hobby websites against nuclear physics research labs.

Duplicates from weird domains
My sit is http://www.webdesign.org/, but the other day I found these sites that have duplicates of my original site: http://wordpresswww.webdesign.org/http://fdsfsdswww.webdesign.org/http://gfdgdfgdfgwordpresswww.webdesign.org/http://w54354353w.webdesign.org/http://wojhkhjkhw.webdesign.org/What really freaks me out is that the content on those sites is 100% up to date. Same as on http://www.webdesign.org/. Now here's my question. 1. Since my site http://www.webdesign.org/ is the root domain, I take it that I can somehow disable those sites (subdomains) from my domain 'admin panel' or what not?2. If you can use those subdomains even if you don't own the root domain (http://www.webdesign.org/), it looks that some negative SEO has been done to my site?Which of my assumptions are right? Please help me to figure that out.

I work on a uk decorating website with five of our own bloggers all of which reside on the home page of the website on their own separete blogging urls as sub domains - is this a good idea or would google not like this from an seo point of view?
Should blogs that are part of an overall content site be on separate sites and link in or is it ok to promote them as content on the home page of the site and take users off to their own url to view the site. Is this good practise for seo?

Does that mean the article in my blog address bar link? I have a blog with many posts focussed on different keywords. What does step 1 mean for me? Does it mean I should publish my post on my blog - copy the url in the address bar - and then enter it in SUBDOMAIN? Your help is appreciated. Thanks

Google Blogger Vs. Sub Domain Blog - Authority building.
We are looking into offering blogs for our customers on their current sites that we have built & host for them. My developers have given me 2 options. 1. Sub domain with a hosted blog. 2. A Google Blogger blog with our customers sub-domain pointed to it. In my opinion I feel that a blog hosted on the sub domain is a better option as it is more authority then a Google Blogger blog. What does everyone think? Having a blog hosted on the subdomain would help with authority building vs. a Google Blogger site? Thanks for any help!

Sub Domain vs New Domain
I have an existing blog separate from my main e-commerce site. (mainsite.com). Is there any advantage at all in moving the blog to a sub domain like blog.mainsite? I know putting it in a sub_folder_ is best. I don't want to do that because of security concerns. Handcrafter

I have created 2 blogs for a client as they have 2 domains (1 for their core business, and 1 for a product). I want to use the same content on both blogs. What is the best way to set this up so there are no ranking or duplicate content issues?
We are pushing SEO for only one of the domains, therefore I would like one to be dominant. We will be sending the blog post via email to their database, therefore each blog needs to have the same content. Thank you!
