Selling link building - Show me the money !
-
Week after week we get enquiries for Link building services. Time and time again we are losing out on contracts and deals...
My stance -
We work on your site for a period of time doing link building so 2 days in the month a link building member will research competitors , yadi , yadi, ya
You get the picture right...
But the customers are being told by less scrupulous companies the numbers of links they will receive.
Impossible unless you are buying them right ?
So it reaches that point when you start questioning being 100% honest...
What advice would you give me on selling link building services...

spammers work on volume. Send out a million email messages, and if 1% fall for the hype, it's cost effective. Over time, it can be profitable due to that volume.
Add in the fact that such services still tend to offer some actual results value (less and less every year), and "competing" against such companies is a seemingly monumental challenge. It's also tempting to want to consider playing the same game.
I need to emphasize how insanely complex it is for a company to play in that field and even come close to being viable for a long-term business strategy. The rules are ALWAYS changing. And just when you think you have a model that works, all it takes is a single algorithm change to wipe out your entire model.
Go ahead and play that game if you think you have the smarts to do so. Personally, I laugh because it's a model based on completely unscrupulous tactics that are ultimately doomed to fail. So if all you want is a money-grab and have the willingness to do so and still sleep at night, that's a choice you can make, yet it's a choice made by people I have no desire to know or do business with. Let alone consider equals or friends or peers in this industry.
Alternately, by offering superior ethical services (if you rail at the word "ethical" you can stop reading now - you're in that "no desire to know" category), and stand proud on that truth, and promote it, and laud it, you'll find enough business from companies who only want to work with such companies.

I too am wondering about the benefits of link building. I suppose it has to do with the quality of links and where the site is in the process. If it is a newer site, the perhaps a link building strategy can help. If it is a site that has already done extensive link building, then perhaps it could be detrimental. There seems to be a grey area here and it just depends.

Is there a way to use your other web properties for successful link building
We have two websites that align with it each other: Site #1 - Industry editorial website that provide high quality, original and current content. This site is mature and has high authority relatively speaking. Site #2 - Industry resource website that educates general public and insiders about the industry. Content is professionally written with fantastic art and basically breaks down different manufacturing processes/materials and walks people through the benefits. Would it be a sound approach to add anchor text/link within articles on site #1 to site #2? Below are a few scenarios: Article on site #1 is talking about using [manufacturing process] to make something and site #2has a page that describes [manufacturing process] in great detail. Article on site #1 is talking about using [material] and site #2 has a page that describes **[material]**in great detail. Article on site #1 is talking why its beneficial to use a particular [material] or [manufacturing process] and site #2 has a page that describes all benefits of [material] or [manufacturing process] in great detail. Obviously, this will only be sprinkled in here and there and not in every article. It should provide users with more insight but will SE's see it that way?

Link building too quickly
Hi all, I have recently started trialing to outsource some SEO to a 3rd party, who obviously promissed white hat techniques and manual links etc.. All has gone well for the first month. But on speeking to another expert they point out that the search engines will spot inconcistencies in link building and penalise me. I know there will not be a know ammount but as we stand at the moment, what is the current feeling of too fast. Links built for me in one month were 100 directory submissions 80 bookmarks 16 search engine submissions 15 Article submissions 46 forum links 10 local classified searches Is this too fast? , If to do I stop and create more inconsistency or continue at a similar rate. Of course quality of link will be an issue, but how much. Many thanks from SEO jnr

Why are my inbound links not showing up?
According to Webmaster tools, I have about 150 linking to my web site. In the Open Site Explorer, none of them show up. Sorry, I am a newbie with SEOMoz. I sure appreciate someone helping me answer this question. Thank you. http://tampapaintingservices.com

My best links not showing in Open Site Explorer
Why is it that OSE does not display my strongest backlinks, including those from Wikipedia, a legitamite .edu, Squidoo, etc.? Some of those links have been live for a long time, and some (not all) are "dofollow". Impossible to do a thorough backlink analysis in this situation.

What are the pros and cons of using a link builder? Can link building be outsourced?
Hi, I have great content on my website which I would like to build external links to from other websites. Â I am told this will increase my domain authority and ultimately help search engine ranking positions. Â I have very limited time in my hands and now thinking of outsourcing the link building component to a specialist. Is this a good way of doing it? Could you recommend professional link builders?

Link building- Point us in the right direction
We are currently fixing crawl errors and other on page issues and have taken on board that 'content is king' and have invested a lot of time and resources into writing unique content on each of the several hundred pages on our ecommerce site (not just to avoid duplicate content but add researched content that will hopefully enhance the user experience and allow them to make the best choice of products) and earlier this year started blog writing regular content about updates, industry trends and current events e.g. Euro 2012 (all content relevant to our sector and/or products). So we are actively working to improve our SEO (and also have regularly updated social media accounts with healthy number of followers) but the problem is link building as we work in a sector where the content isn't really all that exciting so getting link backs from sharing our written content is rare and also doing an infographic and/or guest blogs would not bring anything exciting. So how do we go about building white hat links? The only thing I can see is maybe doing press release submissions but from research there is mixed feelings about this. Any advice that could point us in the right direction would be appreciated.

Internal Link Building
How important is internal link building? What is the right way of doing it, and what is the wrong way of doing it?
