How would you measure the SEO success of new site launch?
-
It has been 12 months, and it is time for some serious SEO reality check up. I think we have done some really nice things (social integration, on page optimization etc) but we honestly could do a million time better on some other elements (anchor, text, link building etc...).
Would love to hear from the community what would be the top 10 criteria you would use to judge the quality of the SEO work done for a new site during is first 12 months.
PS: we are a very content rich over 1,500 new articles/post in our niche with 12 months - our site is migraine.com
Thanks

Thanks for the answer. We want to educate and yes 80% of people are staying well over a minute. It is a bit vague although the answers to all your questions are YES.
That said we look at ourselves with a critical point of view and we want to do a lot better. We think our link profile is weak (but what is a strong link profile after 12 months of existence). Same is true with our anchor text etc...
Thanks anyway

To answer this question you should look back at the goals of the site. Was it built to....
-- sell something - then ask how many units did you move
-- solicit leads - then ask how many people called you
-- educate - then ask how many people spent more than a minute on your site
-- save souls - see how many people know you after entering the Pearly Gates
Those are the ultimate goals and the true measure of success. However, there are small wins that you can count. Others might include....
-- are your rankings moving up?
-- are your traffic numbers rising?
Now the real measures...
-- is the size of your average shopping cart rising
-- is the average visitor staying longer
-- are people tweating, liking, linking, etc without any effort from you?
-- are you still energized

PDF web traffic hitting our site
Hi there, Over the last few months our traffic has spiked due to irrelevant pdf documents sending us crap traffic, our bounce rate is sky high as well as other metrics. I don't want to just filter out this traffic in GA rather try and stop our site from being attacked. Any advice on a way forward would be great. Thanks

I have a WP site which uses categories to display the same content in several locations. Which items should get a canonical tag to avoid a ding for duplicate content?
So...I have a Knowledge Center and press room that pretty much use the same posts. So...technically the content looks like its on several pages because the post shows up on the Category listing page. Do I add a Canonical tag to each individual post...so that it is the only one that is counted? Also...I have a LONG disclaimer that goes at the bottom of most of the posts. would this count as duplicate content? Is there a way to markup a single paragraph to tell the spiders not to crawl it?

Google Analytics SEO Queries Not Showing
Hi All, This might be a silly question, but for all the properties I monitor in Google Analytics, I'm now showing no data for SEO Queries under Acquisition for the past 6 days. Normally I would expect a few day delay in queries, but nothing for 6 days is somewhat peculiar especially as it was functioning fine prior to November 12th. Does anyone have insight into what might be going on? Thanks! URaNMa3

.com site referral traffic to ccTLDs
We have 7 international domains set up along with our main .com site. All of the ccTLds are showing their main referral traffic as coming from the .com site in GA, and most of those being from mobile. Each site is set up correctly with geo-targeting and hreflang tags. Has anyone experienced this before?

How is this site being tracked in GA?
Hi, Bit of an unusual one this, so please bear with me. This site http://www.hayesandhurst.com/ is being tracked in Google Analytics but we're unsure as to how. To the best of our knowledge we haven't inserted the tracking ID into the theme options or the tracking code into the source - and yet it appears to be tracking successfully! I did send some instructions to the client to set up the Analytics account in their name - I fear they have added the code somewhere to the site, but we cannot see where! Perhaps via Google tag Manager?? As I say, an odd one this, but if anyone can shed any light on this mystery i'd be hugely grateful. The tracking ID is UA-64505394-1 for the record. Regards,
