Any website that gives you a profile to fill out can be used to create a citation. Simply apply your Name, address, phone number to your profile and you have a citation.

Happy to share a little gem with you for finding local citations, called WhiteSpark.
The paid version even has a fuctionality allowing you to compare your citations to those of your top competitors for the keyword/s you're most interested in ranking for.
We get a lot of use out of this tool, so hope this helps you.

I like doing "intitle:"city" directory" searches. such as: intitle:"Boise" local directory
Another search I would use is: intitle:"links" life coaching. You can find some resource pages from people, and try get a link on them.

Write all your local information in Schema (schema-creator.org). I've only done this with four sites, but I've had good results with it.

Google local
If you perform a search in Google maps for our company and you are not signed in, it returns our Google + page, with reviews, photos, directions and about tabs, which is fine but, when you click on any of the photos, there is a window that opens to the right where you can edit the location where the photo has been taken, a comment box, photo details and above all, right at the top, MY NAME! I understand that in addition to video sitemaps, a transcription of a video, if presented properly will help google and may help SEO. I cannot find information on the basics to add transcription properly to a page. Advice or direction appreciated.
Looking for guidance or information on the nuts and bolts of how to use transcriptions with video.

Local Search Citations
Hi Is there a checker where it will show what local citation sites a Google Places listing has? Local SEO Help!
At the minute 12 out of my 16 clients are Local SEO clients. I'm new to SEO Moz and still only at the low level subscription which gives me 5 campaigns. It seems to me (and I may be wrong) that SEO Moz is more suited for my clients that want to rank nationally. SEO Moz seems like it might be a little overkill for using up a campaign for local seo. I'm going to stay with SEO Moz as it is great for the few clients I have that want to rank nationally. So my question is does anyone know of a similar company to SEO Moz that focuses soley on local seo? Does anyone have experience with Bright Local? Citations have dissapeared from places listing
This site citations have dissapeared from the 'more about this place' and looks to have effected the maps ranking by dropping the listing a few places: http://maps.google.com.au/maps/place?hl=en&ie=UTF8&q=stella+settlements&fb=1&gl=au&hq=stella+settlements&hnear=Perth+WA&cid=9895804169495459418&z=14 The citations that have been removed are: http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/stella-settlements/burswood http://www.hotfrog.com.au/Companies/Stella-Settlements http://www.yellowpages.com.au/wa/burswood/stella-settlements-13951907-listing.html (all of these are listed on other competitors citations currently) (also the places page is using the reviews on Truelocal.com.au listing above which is strange) Do you know why these citations listings have been removed, however these have not been removed on competitors places pages by Google? thanks
