Any website that gives you a profile to fill out can be used to create a citation. Simply apply your Name, address, phone number to your profile and you have a citation.

Happy to share a little gem with you for finding local citations, called WhiteSpark.
The paid version even has a fuctionality allowing you to compare your citations to those of your top competitors for the keyword/s you're most interested in ranking for.
We get a lot of use out of this tool, so hope this helps you.

I like doing "intitle:"city" directory" searches. such as: intitle:"Boise" local directory
Another search I would use is: intitle:"links" life coaching. You can find some resource pages from people, and try get a link on them.

Write all your local information in Schema (schema-creator.org). I've only done this with four sites, but I've had good results with it.

Can anyone recommend an SEO agency that has provided outstanding results?
We're looking to hire an SEO agency and wanted to see if anyone could personally recommend some. We do not currently have a resource dedicated to SEO, so the agency will be the driver in developing and implementing the strategy. UPDATE Our site sells custom products so while there are around 60 products, there are many variations of any given product (paper type, cover type, color, etc.). We do not have a physical storefront and we ship anywhere in the US and Canada. We are looking for SEO services, mainly link building, monitoring rankings, and on-site factors. We have a resource dedicated to content in-house so the agency would work closely with this person in building out a content strategy. We are open to agencies around the US but are located in Maryland so EST time zone would be preferable.

What is the SEO value of images of geographic areas (states, counties, cities) on a page?
We want to put images for specific geographic locations on some new pages we are building and I am wondering if: A) What the SEO value of adding these images would be? Use Google Places or Google +Local?
Hello everyone, My name is Zachary Russell, and I run a Philadelphia based WordPress Development and SEO firm, ProTech Internet Group. I have been doing work lately, and have been neglecting the fact that my own site needs work, I have now changed that. I have done a complete redesign and started repurposting content to have a well-rounded content strategy that can appeal the the widest possible audience. My issue I'm having now is this: I have both a Google Places page and a Google +Local page for my business , Obviously duplicate listings are a problem, but I don't know which one to get rid of. They both have 0 reviews and limited +1s, I just don't know which one I should delete, and which one I should push to get more reviews moving forward. Also, moving forward, would it make sense for me to have a Google +Business and a Google +Local page?I don't know if this would cause any conflicts either. Google Local pulling incorrect business name
A client mistakenly put her business name in one of the directories with "In" after the name for" incorporated". She wants to remove the "In" because it just looks weird, but we cannot figure out how, its showing up in google local too now. She did update her infousa listing but that didn't help.

Local Ranking Factors Question
Local SERPS continue to confuse me. I feel like I can tell what's going on but I'm never right. How do these two listings rank for "best bar" in the local Chicago SERPS? Local search optimization for national product?
Hi all, My company sells a direct-to-consumer product nationwide. We have competitors that sell through local distributors. Therefore, many customers think that this is a product that must be bought locally. Because so many people search for this product locally, we want to be able to rank for local searches. But, because we sell nationwide, we don't have localized content. We have a competitor that created a page for each state which lists every zip code and city name in the state, but that seems pretty labor intensive (and not all that effective). Any ideas on how to address this problem would be much appreciated. Thanks!
