How to capitalize from a press release?
-
My largest client, a financial services outfit are about to launch a major new service. As part of this, their PR agency is about to issue a press release that will go to financial journalists and the whole stock exchange.
Is there some way, as their SEO advisor, that I can increase the impact of this and help them to further benefit?
Thanks in advance...

I agree, it only has loose ties to SEO, just wanted some thoughts on it. +1 for the idea of PR Web though.

I am not sure if this is directly related to SEO, however - getting backlinks through PR spread-over should definitely help.
I think, getting maximum out from a press-release is a part of media campaign, which depends on your geotarget and budget allotted to spread the news.
Websites like www.prweb.com should help reach to max number. But since the PR agency is targeting financial journalists - then if they could make sure the news appears on newspaper websites with a link back to your client website - it would be good enough.
Your PR agency can also vouch for paid news on various websites or blogs to get more back-links.

Are there any legitimate ways to do press releases?
In the past month, we won a "Small Business of the Year" Award and the managing partner is up for "BusinessWoman of the Year Award" for the greater Tampa area. I would like to send out two press releases, because I think these are appropriate uses of press releases. However, I'm nervous because I don't really know what all the implications of using press releases are. I don't want us to get hurt or flagged as doing something spammy. I also don't know which company to go through if they are still a good idea. PRWeb looks good to me, but then again, I don't really know. Any thoughts on either aspect of this question would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ruben

PR Web Press Release for Links
I was wondering if submitting press release, such as to PR Web, if the links, on the press release linking back to our site still have any value in today's SEO world? If so, what is the right way to take out the most value of a Press Release.?? Please advise, Morris

Looking to create a Press Release - Any decent sites out there?
Hey guys, I'm wondering whether you could point me in the right direction of a reputable PR site to use? I realise that many of these sites have been devalued over recent years but I wanted to produce something for a client after they struck-up a fairly notable connection with another company in their industry. Or should I just avoid PR sites altogether? Oh, and I'd prefer them to be free if possible 🙂

No Domain Link In Press Release, What About Yelp?
Hi Moz, I understand that using a PR for SEO benefit is old-school, black hat, and largely outlawed by Google. We are simply trying to get our name pushed further into the local market, i.e., using a press release for it's natural intention. Our company offers free quotes through our site and the scheduling of jobs with new clients is largely done online. I think it seems silly NOT to have a link to our URL in the press release, but rather than poke Google, we're fine omitting it. However, would linking our Yelp near the end be a big deal? Yelp no-follows their URLs back to the company site so there isn't a risk with pumping up a support link through PR and we can provide SOME clickable link to our information. Thoughts?

Is a press release a bad idea?
We've never sent out a press release before using one of the services, and thought it might finally be time. Then I saw that Google seems to be calling services like PR Newswire out. "Links with optimized anchor text in articles or press releases distributed on other sites." https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en So, is it worth it to spend a few hundred bucks to distribute a press release, or am I better off just publishing it on my blog for my blog writing service and promoting it all the regular ways?

Press Release Company
I'm wanting to submit press releases to PRNewswire, BusinessWire and MarketWire.... but I dont want to take the time to fill out forms and fax them back, or pay the initial membership fees. Are there companies that just take the press release that you've written, and then send them out to these services? Where can I find such a company?

Press Release Best Practices - should I add the PR to my site?
I wanted to know the best practice for SEO when it comes to press releases. If I publish a press release through a site like PRWeb or PRNewswire, can I also add the same press release to my site in the "news" section or will that create duplicate content issues? Would it make sense to include a summary of the press release on my site and then add a link to the press release hosted on the PR service's site? I don't necessarily want to take people away from my site, but I'm not sure if putting the whole release in both places makes sense. Thanks!

Reposting media releases
Hey Mozers - We recently distributed a media release and it has been picked up by 20+ news outlets and counting. My question: Should I publish this media release on my news/blog page? Or is it better to just bask in the incoming links? What are the benefits and drawback to each? Thanks in advance!
