Video xml sitemap: how to build with 1000 videos on your site?
-
Hey Mozzers,
We have a vacation rental site where every property has its own video of the property. (i.e. YouTube embedded video)
So, with more than 1000 homes, how do you make a video xml map?
Or, should we have an xml map with 1000 links on it?
Can't wait to see your insights!

Sure,
Here is a list of some content Moz and Distilled have done on Video.

sorry, on the video from Distilled Link Love 2011

thank you thank you Phil.
It was actually a video from Distilled that pushed me to do it. (Rand Fishkin funny line on video xml maps for youtube videos)
Do you have something to read up, on in regards to video, within Distilled or SEOMoz by chance?

Only thing i have to add from Vahe's answer Peter is that you probably shouldn't use YouTube for this.
The Hotspot graph metrics for an "advert" style video like you're building will probably be very low, as will the overall views and this will cause Google to see it negatively and not rank it. If you use a service like Vzaar - http://www.vzaar.com or Wistia - http://www.wistia.com then you're probably more likely to get a good blended video result. With Wistia, you can also automatically add content to your sitemap, so i expect this will be a great way to go for you.
Cheers,
Phil

Perfect, thank you Vahe.

From looking at Google Webmaster Tools forums, they have said you can have a maximum of 50,000 URLs which I am assuming applies when you create a video sitemap.
There are software/tools which you can use to create specific video sitemaps online. Here's a page I found to create video sitempas using A1 sitemap generator - http://www.microsystools.com/products/sitemap-generator/help/video-xml-sitemaps/
Make sure that you review the thumbnails and meta data used as it is important for how it appears in SERPs and the nature of users click through.

Hope this helps,
Vahe

All images suddenly deindexed from google sitemap tab.
All my images de-indexed from google as reported in sitemap tab. There are more then 10k+ images that are earlier indexed but suddenly all image are de-indexed. Is that a GWT bug or we have been penalized by google for doing something wrong.Sharing the screenshot. image-deindexed-issue.PNG

Product Videos and SEO
We sell high end products and we try to educate the consumer as much as possible. Since the attention span is short, we try and break up the features/functions into 5-6 videos. We post everything to Youtube and we have been adding it to our blog as well. I am currently tasked with rebuilding our blog from the ground up. This means getting rid of all the thin content, updating content, etc. We have many videos up there and Just trying to figure out what the best practice should be. The blog is wordpress based and I have the videos now set up in a category structure. Should I just add each video as a video custom post type? Should I have each video posted with a transcript? Or should I post each video with sub background text of the video? We have about 120 videos in all and adding more, but making them longer to reduce the amount of videos per product going forward. Thank you.

Uploading product videos to video sharing sites
Is it a good idea to upload my product description videos to video sharing sites? What would be the benefit? Does it matter that my videos are in a foreign language? Which sites do you recommend? How many should I target?

Finding Pages with Youtube Embedded Videos in Google SERP
I'm trying to figure out a process to find specific youtube embed videos using Google search. But a lot of sites are not being returned. For example, I know that the following video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MnylRaQC3w) is linked to and embedded on http://gizmodo.com/5898438/watch-how-fender-builds-its-iconic-stratocasters However, I can't figure out a set of search terms to find that in Google. Searching for (1MnylRaQC3w Gizmodo) doesn't return the right page in the results. I'd like to figure this out so I could see everywhere a certain youtube video has been embedded.

What's the best way to host video for SEO purposes?
Hello SEOmoz folks, I'm curious as to whether it will be more beneficial for a website to host a video on the site itself or to host it on YouTube and then embed the code on your site. The options so far, as it seems, are: 1.) Host the video on YouTube or Vimeo or wherever else, then embed the YouTube code into your own website's HTML. 2.) Host the video on your own website by itself. 3.) Host the video on your own website AND YouTube AND Vimeo. I'm wondering which option is best. And if hosting your video on your own website is a good way to go, whether to go that route solely or in addition to hosting on YouTube, what is the best way to go about that? Do I have to embed a player AND the video info into the HTML of my website? What player is best for this? Flash, or something else? And once I get the video on my site one way or the other, how do I write the code to make sure the video thumbnail shows up next to my search results in Google to maximize the SEO potential for the video clip? Sorry for the long question, but I've been searching everywhere for this and I'd love just a direct answer on it. Thanks for your help! Cheers, Dani

What is the best way to host a video on my site from a SEO perspective?
Hi, we are in the process of creating a video about a topic that is highly relevant for our customers. Once it is completed we want to offer the video to our customers so that they can embed it into their own websites for free. What is the best way to do this and still receive maximum SEO juice? If we use a a video service like youtube or vimeo, then the link will go to vimeo or youtube and not our site. One thing we are thinking about is asking our customers to link to our site in return for embedding the video, but if there is an automatic solution then this would be a lot better. Any tips will be highly appreciated! If you have anyother tips regarding video content then the same of course! Many thanks! Daan

Will hosted videos be indexed and pulled into search results if a video sitemap is submitted, but the video itself is in an iframe?
We're working with a client to create and submit a video site map. All of their videos are on separate pages, with unique copy, etc. The problem is that the videos may have to be within an iframe. Will this be an issue with regards to being included in video and universal search results? Or will the video site map take care of it? While we're on the topic of video site maps, does anyone know conclusively what the best thumbnail size is? Google has conflicting information, one resource says 160 x 120, and another says 120 x 90. Thanks in advance!
