Unique root linking domains - clarification

Hi guys,
In SEOMoz Search Ranking Factors, one of the the top ranking factors is number of unique root domains linking to the page:
http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors#metrics-5
My question is: do these unique root domains need to be unique root domains liking to my domain also?
E.g. www.mydomain.com/landingpage1/ already got a link from www.externaldomain.com
If www.externaldomain.com has another link pointing to www.mydomain.com/landingpage2/ will this link be counted? If yes will the value be diluted as www.externaldomain.com has already linked to www.mydomain.com/

As you were saying the 2nd link from same domain will be counted, will it be diluted in value even if it's from a different page to the first link?
E.g. Link 1: www.externaldomain.com/page1 linking to www.mydomain.com/page1
Link 2: www.externaldomain.com/page2 linking to www.mydomain.com/page2
Will the 2nd link lose some value as externaldomain.com already linked to mydomain.com?

Correct, Each unique linking domain linking to each page will be counted. One thing to keep in mind though, if you are receiving both links from the same page on externaldomain.com the second link to your domain will be diluted some. So if your going after multiple links from a same site, try getting them on different pages where you can have a unique link on separate pages.

Conversion Rate Question: Should I Measure Visits or Unique Visits?
When you measure conversion rates, is the equation: conversion rate = visits/conversions or conversion rate = unique visits/conversions I ask because it can actually make a pretty big difference in the conversion rate. For example, if you visit my ecommerce website 100 times before buying something (and assuming you're my only visitor), then my conversion rate is 100% _if I'm determining conversion rates by unique visits/conversions. _However, it's only 1% _if I'm determining conversion rates by visits/conversions. _Wow! Now this is clearly an extreme example, but it should serve to illustrate the point that in more reasonable cases, the way the data is measured can have a potentially significant impact on the conversion rate. Is there an industry standard for this? Am I missing something really basic? Also, here's a little bit of context for the question: I run an ecommerce website powered by the Magento CMS and I'm trying to measure my conversion rate in Google Analytics for individual products. Google Analytics shows me my site wide conversion rate, but apparently I have to do some customization in order to measure conversion rates on the product level. That's fine, but I want to make sure I'm measuring my product conversions in a standard way. Thanks for any and all help! Adam

Large recent drop in "Domain Authority" and backlinks through OSE
Hello, I've noticed that our sites domain authority has dropped enormously this past week according to Open Site Explorer. It also shows us as having lost about half of our backlinks. Google webmaster tools doesn't show a corresponding drop in links and we haven't done anything to our domain recently. Anyone have any ideas what might have happened? Core audience, daily / weekly uniques
In Google analytics or site catalyst, is there anyway to target IP addresses to see how many of my daily uniques are daily, weekly, monthly and what % are just 'tourists'/'one-offs'? My site is a local news site... Or is there another way to find this info. I am trying to work out what my core audience is (that keeps coming back every day or every week). Kind regards

Quantifying link building efforts
Does anyone have a way to quantify the value of link building efforts? I am trying to devote resources to improve our link building initiatives but is there any way to correlate it to page rank etc? I know you can't tie it down directly but any rough gauge or studies in the past that people may be aware of? Any thoughts on how you would tackle this question? I need to demonstrate the value it provides in a slightly more scientific manner than saying "it just helps". Thanks,

Will javascript generated links affect my bounce rate?
Hi all, I run a site called Applicable Jobs (http://www.applicablejobs.com) and from analyising my analytics I notice my bounce rate is unusually high at around 85%. I'm keen to get this right down as I've read recently that a high bounce rate is a metric Google uses in determining positioning in the SERPs. I honestly don't think it's the quality of my content because I feel it's genuinely useful to my target audience but I'm wondering if the way my jobs list is generated is causing an issue. At the moment I have my jobs listings generated through javascript so I can have nice effects and use a bit of ajax but if Google crawls it, it obviously won't be able to see the listings. So I'm wondering if when a user comes to the site and they click on one of the job listings, does the Google analytics code recognise that click because that link is generated through javascript? Thanks
