I have a Question about open site explorer.Specifically the top pages tab

When i hover the little question mark icon it says "target the best pages to maximize link building.See top pages on the subdomain according to Page authority." Could someone explain this to me.And how do i target the best pages.I'm beginning my second trial week of SEO moz so please excuse me if I sound like a beginner!
Thanks in advance

Quoting the SEOmoz page (http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/page-authority
Unlike other SEO metrics, Page Authority is difficult to directly influence. This is because it is made up of an aggregate of metrics (mozRank, mozTrust, link profile, etc...) that each have an impact on this score. This was done intentionally because this metric is meant to approximate how competitive a given site is in Google.com. Since, Google.com takes into account a lot of factors, a metric that tries to calculate it must incorporate a lot of factors as well.
This means the best way to influence this metric is to improve your overall SEO. Particularly you should focus on your link profile (which influences mozRank and mozTrust) by getting more links from other well linked to pages.
The best way is to implement their advice and improve your overall site SEO with inbound links, on-site SEO, etc.
By the way, if you have't read the Beginner's Guide yet, I highly recommend it:Â http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo

WellI I probably should of said I was searching my own domain.the problem is my root domain is has a PA of 28 & I have a WP blog that has a PA of between 17-15 & my main content(the content I want my potential customers to get) has a PA of about the same. How do I increase the PA of my own content that I want targeted?

Love-o-ly question and no worries, we all started somewhere
When you click on the "Top Pages" tab you will see a layout of pages within the domain in query of opensiteexplorer. The good news? As usual SEOmoz has done the heavy lifting for you.
They have already ranked the top pages by page authority. Don't let the subdomain/domain authority thing throw you.
So for example if you have a site with only 3 or 4 pages ranked in the 60s or 70s and the rest of their pages are ranked below 20 you will want to obviously target the pages with the best page authority. Because all the pages are on the same domain, they share the same domain authority.
Hypothetically:
I am scooping out a site for a link. When I contact them I will want to specify the page if at all possible that the link will be put on. It only makes sense I want to be on the most appropriate and highest valued page.
Keep in mind, top page are not the links this site has - that is under the linking domains tab
Hope that helps

When on the Top Pages tab, OSE is just giving you a summary of the pages on the site that have the highest page authority. Presumably, the higher the page authority, the more valuable a link on that page. This is useful for knowing which sites and pages to attempt to get links to your site from.
Page authority is calculated based an an algorithm (see here:Â http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/page-authority) of factors, such as linking root domains, inbound links, etc.
I hope that makes sense! Let me know if it doesn't.

Am I better off with ten links from one site or one link from ten sites?
I am writing a series of linked-back articles for a highly-ranked web publisher, but wonder if I'd be better off sharing the articles across different sites. Â My goal is to grow our domain authority and SEO rankings.

Link to page in SERP or page with good on-page optimisation
Hi, Some friends are happy to link to my site. As I am focusing on a particular search term is it best to have them link to the page that already appears in the SERP for that term or the one with better on page optimisation? Thanks Billy

Company on top website, no hyperlink
Hi - my company's name and website have been mentioned on 3 major websites but there is no hyperlink. Does this totally destroy any SEO value of these mentions? So disappointing, since it's hard to ask a reporter to include a hyperlink / they usually can't.

Best way to set up a support site - sub domain, separate site or com/support?
My company is setting up our support site. Â It has been suggested that we set it up as a separate domain - www.company-support.com, rather than setting it up as a sub-domain (www.support.company.com) or the usual www.company.com/support. Â The person who proposed this believes it wlll create link juice, but i wonder if splitting the traffic will create more harm than good? Â Opinions please!

Got a link building question here
I've been doing a lot of back link analysis on my competitors and noticed that a lot of links are coming from wordpress.com, blog.com, blogspot.com, etc blogs. These are free blogs in the format of http://www.username.blogplatform.com.  These individual blogs seem to have product reviews and mentions for many different products (we are an e-commerce website). I would like to know if anyone has done any outreach to the owners of the third party blogs. This looks very different from guest blogging and I want to know if there is a way to reach out to these blog owners in order for them to write something about our products. Please let me know if anyone had any success with this, Thank you

How do you optimize your site for surrounding areas?
For example, If I am optimizing a site for a dentist in West Palm Beach, Florida (the primary city) how do I ensure I am also optimizing my site for the smaller cities/towns that are part of West Palm Beach like Royal Palm Beach, Wellington etc.? If I am using "West Palm Beach" in my site and page titles etc., how do I also rank for the smaller cities? What are the basic tactics in terms of on-site and linking? For instance, lets say I offer Botox in West Palm Beach...how do I also optimize for Wellington, Royal Palm Beach and other local cities? Do I really have to create unique Botox content for each city? Thanks!

Is it a bad idea to build unique sites to build credibility for your main site?
It is hard to sum up the question in one line, but basically my company has bought several descriptive domains that we would like to build out into microsites that link back to our main site. For example...say we are a florist. Our main site talks about all the different kinds of flowers we have and the work we do. So the idea is to buy weddingflowersdallas.com (example only...) and have a mini site that has the same look and feel as our main site, but has unique content that talks solely about our wedding flower business and has a few links back to our main site. 1. Is this a no no from a google perspective? 2. Is this a good strategy in general? Thanks, David
