Should I add my brand name to every page title
-
Currently for every page I automatically add my brand name
Ie: poduct xxx - brand name
product yyy - brand name.
is this considered good or bad practice?
-
Ditto those who say use it. In addition, if you're a local retailer with some name recognition, you'll benefit from having your name back-branded in the title.
Remember world famous brands were not always world famous.
-
It is a common practice. It could help establish a theme to your site if your brand is keyword rich. It also helps establish an entity. But it's not a absolute must. I would favor a yes in most cases. In some you may need to shorten it to an acronym. K&J Law vs Kempton & Johnson Law.
And just another side note, most sites seem to favor a break over a dash.
Product xxx | brand name
-
Would I do this if I had a world-famous brand? Yes, because the brand itself will elicit clicks and conversions.
Do I do it personally? No, because the optimization effect of stuffing another KW in the title might have better ROI.
-
Yes, (well, depending on your brand name), I would use it. If the Title is structured professionally and ends with | The Company, it gives credibility to the page.
-
Yes, almost all sites do this. If there is ever a chance someone could search for your brand name then you definitely want to be on top of the SERPs for those searches. If you don't think people will ever search your brand name then you've got more fundamental marketing work to do before the SEO.
By way of examples: Amazon and Zappos both do this (in varying forms). A good rule of thumb is if Amazon and Zappos do it, you should give it serious consideration.

Duplicate page titles for blog snippets pages
I can't figure the answer to this issue, on my blog I have a number of pages which each show snippets and an image for each blog entry, these are called /recent-weddings/page/1 /2 /3 and so on. I'm getting duplicate page titles for these but can't find anywhere on Wordpress to set a unique title for them. So http://www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk/recent-weddings/…/2/ has the same title as http://www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk/recent-weddings/…/3/

Over by 24 is the worst. Here's an example http://cycling-jersey-collection.com/browse-collection/de-nardi-colpack-serhiy-honchar-ukrainian-national-champion-santini-jersey/ Now, the easy route would be to remove "- Cycling Jersey Collection" (the name of the site) which would solve all of these too long warnings. However, given I want to rank well (and I do) for "cycle jersey collection" would removing these hurt my ranking position? Thanks andy0 -
Home page URL
Hi, I work on this site: http://www.towerhousetraining.co.uk/about-us. This is the home page URL. Should this be 301'd to: http://www.towerhousetraining.co.uk? I have created a site map, which I submitted to Google Webmaster Tools, which includes these URL's: /about-us, /training-we-offer & /contact-us. There are a total of 3 pages on the website. Webmaster tools has only indexed 2 out of 3 pages. I think this is something to do with the /about-us URL, as when I do a site: search, these pages appear: www.towerhousetraining.co.uk/, /training-we-offer & /contact-us. I am not sure why Google has indexed the home page as www.towerhousetraining.co.uk/ and not /about-us? Is it a bad idea in general not to have your homepage as your root domain? I added a to the homepage, but am wondering if this was the right thing to do? Any help would be appreciated.

Duplicate page titles
Hi, I have a Joomla 2.5 site and I use categoryblogs. So I have a page with "reviews". All the reviews are shown on this page and there are about 15 pages of it. In my SEOMoz crawl result I get 71 errors ! about "duplicate titles". How can I diminish this? I don't know how to show all the reviews in a proper way other than what I have accomplished with categoryblog. Patrick

Duplicate Page Titles Warnings, htaccess Rewrite & Canonical Links.
Hey guys, Just signed up for a pro account and I am getting Duplicate Page Title warnings on links that are duplicate, rewritten for SEO, but have a canonical href tag. I have two sets of links in my store: SEO friendly: http://www.mysite.com/item/iphone-case Operational link: http://www.mysite.com/shop/product.php?pid=11 This operational link however has a href canonical tag pointing to the SEO friendly link as being the primary link. My question is; Do I need to worry about this Duplicate Page Title Warning if I am using a canonical tag on the Operational link pointing to the SEO friendly link? Thanks!
