Finding Writers for Guest Posting?
-
Having the toughest time finding writers.
I've been pretty successful building links via guest posting, but the problem is I'm writing all the articles. It's seriously draining - and not scalable the way I'm doing.
That said - anyone have tips on how to find high quality writers? I'm fine paying $50-$100 per article as long as it's great.
Help?

Thanks for the kind words on MyBlogGuest, guys. We fight hard for the quality there trying to turn it into a valuable resource of awesome guest posts!

Update to this - I did some searching about on oDesk and found some (what appear to be) very good US based writers in a wide variety of niches. Pricing ranged anywhere from $20-40 per hour and upwards of $80 per hour for sales copy.
Looks promising.

"I found a great writer by going out and looking at blogs in my niche. This allowed me to see the quality of the writing and the productivity of the person over time."
It seems so obvious, yet I never thought of it. I'm going to do this straight away. Thanks EGOL.

Problogger Job Board looks promising. Thanks for the tip.
I've looked at the highest level textbroker in the past. The quality was good in terms of grammar, but it read like a text book. To me, blogs (and guest posts) tend to be more human and personable.
Maybe I just had a bad sample?

I found a great writer by going out and looking at blogs in my niche. This allowed me to see the quality of the writing and the productivity of the person over time.
Also, if you need general writing you might be able to hire a person who graduated with honors from an English writing program. I ran an ad on Craigslist - wrote the qualifications really steep - and was very surprised at the quality people who applied.

The perfect place to find writers is the Problogger Jobs board. I've had several great writers come from there. Another place to look is textbroker.com - you'll be paying for quality though, if that's not an issue.

Definitely love My Blog Guest. I also source guest posts via searching for blogs with Google search operators and pitching them that way.
My problem is that even though I can find lots of quality guest post opportunities, I have to write the actual post.
Any tips on hiring your writer?

Hi Ben. No particular industry, I do SEO for various websites.
I haven't tried oDesk yet, but quality is super important to me. Maybe I can find native english writers. These guest posts will represent my clients' brands.

There is one website I could definitely recommend, it is called "My Blog Guest" (http://myblogguest.com/)
It is founded by Ann Smarty, who has been featured here on SEOmoz and she is also a member on here. Basically, the website offers the opportunity to look for blog guest writers as well as offering articles to other blog owners. The site is easy to use and pick up.
If you are willing to pay though you could check out sites such as oDesk (as mentioned by Ben). Do be aware though that you look at their ratings, their native language and the amount of experience they have. We once trialed on there looking for a writer, the content we received however was very very poor (although the person's ratings on oDesk were good). In the end, we settled for an in-house writer.
Best of luck!

What industry are you in?
Are you looking for writers to construct posts you can submit to external sites OR writers who can submit guest posts on your site?
Have you tried services like oDesk? quality can be lacking, but you could try and do a deal whereby you only pay if the post is accepted by an external site - thus no risk!
Thanks,
Ben

Anchor Text - How many and what do with our old posts
Hello, I have a two larger established websites that achieve over 1000 unique views a day. The sites have done well but we have always had problem with SEO. The vast majority of traffic is from our social media accounts -- we rank low on the SERP - below competitive pages that have less updates and much lower traffic. When I set the sites up I misunderstood a number of key issues but with over 4500 posts and 600 pages it has takes a huge amount of time to change things. I have now realised another issue -- we did not use Anchor Text to link to provide internal links to our keywords on our site. We are now adding them. My question is two fold: How many internal links should we add? From what I read on Moz - 5 to 6 internal links should be the right number. Comments? 2) We have numerous posts ie over 4000 that go back over 4 years. Should I change them all at once or will this flag a spam issue with Google? Believe me after years of problems I do not want another set back. Suggestions and advice would be welcome. Thanks

Been offered a no follow link on a blog post ?. Is it worth it ?
Hi All, We are having a go at doing our own link building and just wanted some advice on a couple of questions I've found some industry related blog sites which could be good but alot of them only offer a no follow link ?. Is this worth it ? And if ,so what is the advantage of having a no follow link ? as it won't directly help with our DA etc ? I've also noticed some of these sites link to each other or recommend each other (i.e other blog sites) which may be some sort of link network ?.. I take it this is bad ? and could be penalized by google ? thanks pete

Multiple guest posts from one site have any effect on rankings?
I have started guest blogging and have sites asking me for more content. I understand that regular guest blogging is great for building authority as an author and has the potential to get more links through word of mouth and other sites linking to me. The more posts I do the more exposure I get. But if I have say 3 or 4 posts on an external site with each linking to my site (to a different url and with different anchor text) does that have any effect on rankings as all links come from the same domain? As I understand it links from different root domains are what matters. Presumably a site with links from 5 different sites with 10 links on each external domain totalling 50 links wouldn't rank as well as a site with links from 50 different domains (1 per domain)?

Guest Posts on Sites With Irrelevant Outbound Links
Suppose you came across a website in your niche with solid domain authority that accepts guest posts. However you notice some of the guest posts are linking out to somewhat off-topic sites. If you already have an article that you think would be accepted easily and all you have to do is spend 10 minutes to craft an email pitch, would you do it? Why?

Anchor text diversity - post penguin.
Hi, It seems that achor text diversity is hugely important post penguin but what's the best strategy? What kind of anchor text should I be going for? As I understand it more that 60% of links with the keywords in trigger a google flag. For example are the following good examples for the term 'wedding singer'? local wedding singer, best wedding singer, wedding singer website, hire wedding singer. Would these cause triggers in google as all contain the keyword 'wedding singer'? Or should I be going for: click here, visit us, listen now, view a profile Obviously these words don't contain the anchor text 'wedding singer' but with a few exact match #wedding singer' anchor texts and good on page SEO will this mix give better results?

The Risks of Unrelated Guest Posts
Hi Mozzers! I'm really interested to get some opinions on whether a guest post on a blog that is far outside your niche could be a risky tactic. For example if your blog is about a technology product and you get a guest post published on an Elvis blog, will this appear manipulative or similar to a purchased link? Suppose your guest post is about Elvis, but at the end of the article is a link to a technology product with the anchor text "customized PC adapters". Won't that look manipulative to a search engine algorithm?
