How can authority of the page be higher then authority of the domain?
-
In the opensite explorer most of the links that I see have a higher domain authority and lower page authority which makes sense to me because I thought that domain authority is an aggregate of its pages authority. But apperently I was wrong because sometimes I see that the page authority is greater then its domain? How could that be?

SirMax,
Domains don't rank. Only pages rank.
The front page of a site is not a domain, it is a page and it ranks on its merits..
If the domain is strong, (the combination of many strong pages), its pages will benefit from the domain strength, so if you add new pages, those pages will benefit, if if no other sites link to it. There are caveats - you could have a strong domain, but there could be problems that prevent the pages from ranking - panda and other duplication are such problems.

No, DA is how well the pages on the website may rank. It is domain specific. PA is how well the individual page may rank, irregardless of DA. We all know that pages on a more trusted site have a better chance of ranking higher for more competitive terms.
Your first example is correct. You could have a PA of 60 and a DA of 10 on a site.
I don't think I agree with your second one though. Page metrics are still better correlated with rankings than domain metrics. It would be better to have a link on a high PA page than a high DA domain, though sites with a higher DA will often have more pages with higher DA.
But with your two, I would say that a DA70/PA30 is better than a DA35/PA40, because a PA30 is not too much less than a PA40, but that DA is powerful.

So my impression from reading articles about Page and Domain authority as well as impression from your answer is that
Domain authority is an absolute value of how SeoMoz thinks the page ranks in Google
and
Page Authority is a relative value of how much this page is helping this particular domain to rank in Google?
So by that rational you can have some domain with domain authority rank of 10 and the webpage on that domain with authority rank of 60 because it is the only page that has backlinks.
So then it means that pages with high PA but low DA would have less value for backlinking then pages with somewhat low PA but high DA. Is that true for most of the cases ?
So DA 70 with PA 30 is better then DA35 with PA 40?

Hey Max -
This is a question that we get asked quite often. Let me refer you to these two pages:
What is Domain Authority - http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/domain-authority
What is Page Authority - http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/page-authority
Basically, DA is the strength of the whole domain, based off of links. PA is the strength of the page and likeliness for it to rank according to links. If the page has a bunch of links to it, yet the overall site does not have many more links, the PA of that page will be higher than the DA of the entire site.
Hope this helps.

Codeigniter - Controller and duplicate pages
Hi there, I use Codeigniter as framework and I have a question about the duplicate page. Actually, for default, the typical page in a CodeIgniter framework is something like this: http://www.domain.com/site/contact where site is the controller containing the contact function that point to the contact.html view... To have a better URL I use a trick with the "routes" that redirect any http://www.domain.com/contact to the original http://www.domain.com/site/contact Of course the both are valid and the both are... crawled! So I get the duplicate page. Is this something I have to manage, maybe with .htaccess? Any idea would be very appreciated. Thanks for you precious time guys! Shella

Page Rank vs Page and Domain Authority - who wins?
A client has found another SEO agency promising various things to do with link building. Most of these promises are based upon links from sites with allegedly high page ranks. So my questions: Page rank seems to be fading out am I safe to stay with PA and DA metrics instead? I don't agree with link building tactics and feel that it should more a networking activity to provide USEFUL links to users... am I being too white hat and missing opporunities? The other company have promised long list of links including 100 SEO friendly web directory listings, 200 PR 8 back links from Pinterest (which i thought was no follow) & 10 long lasting and high quality mini web sites (with three pages/posts, video and pictures). Am I right that this all sounds a little spammy or is this really what I should be doing for me clients?

Aren't domain.com/page and domain.com/page/ the same thing?
Hi All, A recent Moz scan has turned up quite a few duplicate content notifications, all of which have the same issue. For instance: domain.com/page and domain.com/page/ are listed as duplicates, but I was under the impression that these pages would, in fact, be the same page. Is this even something to bother fixing or a fluke scan? If I should fix it does anyone know of an .htaccess modification that might be used? Thanks!

On page links tool here at Seomoz
Hi Seomoz - first of all, thanks for the best SEO tools I have ever worked with (this is my first question in this forum, and also I just subscribed as a paying customer after the 30 days trial you guys offer). My question: After having worked for several weeks on getting the numbers of links in our forum on www.texaspoker.dk down, we are somewhat surprised to see that we didn't succeed in getting lower numbers. For instance, this page: http://www.texaspoker.dk/forum/aktuelle-konkurrencer/coaching-projekt-bliver-du-den-udvalgte has (that's what Seomoz seo tool tells us): 239 on page links. Can this really be true? We can't find these links, and we actuually did a lot to lower the numbers of links, for instance the forum members picture was a link before, and also there was a "go to top" link in each post in the forum. Thanks a lot.

Can I get a list of all links on a given domain?
Sorry, this is actually kind of a tripartite question: I was looking at the Competitive Link Analysis on one my clients' campaigns. Sometime between June and September their total links went up by about 120,000. We have no idea where those links came from (although the numbers would indicate that they're mostly internal). Question 1: In none of the other tools can I figure out how to list these links on a domain level. Is there a way to get a list of all links for our given domain? I've been playing around with the page-by-page and even that doesn't show me everything. For example, I'm looking at OSE for their homepage and it lists 45 links for a page that it claims has 151 total. Question 2: How did it pick those 45 to display out of the 151 possible? If these are only external links, why do half of them come from one of our subdomains? Also... Question 3: If our client hasn't made any major changes recently, why has the number of internal links gone up so dramatically? Thanks.
