SEO for Image only posts
-
Let's say I have a post where I show 25 different wood textures. I start the post with a small paragraph and then I show several images of wood textures linked to an internal or external page.
Since I don't use a text link, then I have to rely on alt tags.
It would be very difficult to assign a different alt tag to so many similar images, and I guess there would be a risk of keyword stuffing (walnut wood, oak wood, etc).
On the other side, if I assign the same tag to all images, then that clearly is keyword stuffing (alt=wood textures).
This is just an example, but it applies to most of my posts.
What do you think I should do with the alt tags?
Thanks!

About the CSS: i have no idea, but i noticed it in other posts ... What browser are you using?
If you're afraid of keyword stuffing, you could:
-
remove the title-tag from TEXT-link
-
include both IMG and TEXT in one link with one title=tag
-
include both IMG and TEXT in one link without title=tag, only ALT-tag
If the image also serves as a link you could potentially include both ALT and TITEL tag. But with a TEXT-link beneath, perhaps you would be keywordstuffing.
SEO wise (both IMG and TEXT) it would be best to use one ALT and one TITLE per image/link combo.

Ok, sounds a lot of work but it's a logical answer, thanks alsvik.
And what about when images have links below them? Wouldn't that be keyword stuffing or something?
I'm not looking to over optimize my page, I simply want to do it the right way.
And, no, it is not a shop, it is a graphic design site.
Thanks!
EDIT: Why whenever I post something here, a lot of css code appears below my post forcing me to go and edit it each time?

I would definitely use the alt text. But i would try to avoid keyword stuffing by only using the type/kind of wood in the picture:
alt="Californian Oak"
alt="Canadian Walnut"
alt="Japanese Cherry"
But is this for a gallery a shop or...? There's a major difference in what would be interesting for the customer to know about the images.
And perhaps you will find this discussion interesting!

Hi everyone! I would like no-indexing all the posts of a specific category of my wordpress site. The problem is that the structure of my URL is composed without /category/: www.site-name.ext/date/post-name/

Does css float affect SEO?
It is generally believed that the closer the content is to the top of the page, the better it is for SEO. If that's incorrect, please let me know. I have a 2 column site where the left menu is navigation and right side is content. Obviously, the left menu appears in the code before the content does, but I can flip them around via css float. If I do that, the content will appear on the left visually, even though in the code it still comes after the left side navigation. Do either positions affect seo?

Does it make any difference to your SEO if the homepage infrequently updates.
Hi everyone! Working on a site and the homepage hardly ever updates. Probably 3/4 times per year. The only page on the site which does is the blog page which updates 4 times per week. Is this a bad thing? Is there anything I should attempt to do?

On-page: Over optimized images?
Hello guys. I have a small question about an on-page optimization for images. What I have: good title tag / good url structure good content (NOT keyword shuffled, its real content, for real people) images / gallery uploaded to folder named same as article name. For example: Great tips for bloggers [article name], great-tips-for-bloggers [folder name]. So my question is: Will Google harm me for this "too good" paths to images, article related image filenames, with mask like [gtips-img01], and if all images have titles / alt tags? Thank you guys.

What impact does cdn utilization have on SEO?
I've set up a new online store and prepping to roll out. I've implemented Amazon Cloudfront to host all of my static files: images, style sheets, javascript files and small template related images to assist in speeding up this Magento site. Any reason not to do this? What are the SEO implications of having images that arent' stored on the same domain? Does it make a difference if I refer to these files from the amazon cloudfront domain vs. seting up a subdomain like cdn.mywebsite.com? Thanks for any feedback.

Advantages of Wordpress Pages versus Posts
I have a number of SEO focused articles that I would like to post to our site to help with content and rankings. I am wondering the advantages of posting the content as a page versus a post within Wordpress. Or even vice versa.
