Anyone else agree with outbound links to boost rankings?

Anyone agree with this article? If your position 7 is there a chance of jumping to position 6 by only linking out!

My Initial Reaction with all the new reports and studies coming out on the Importance Social going forward -
Would be to say the Social Benefits, heavily outweigh the loss of PR to external sites..
But then again, also in PR as I understand it, the difference between .0001 and .001 in PR CAN be huge in the determination of placement..
So I think it is a give and take....
But both positions cannot be ignored **NOW **BUT I most definitely agree that Vinnie's take on it is a more longterm approach, than hoarding page rank...

I think there are several benefits to outbound linking. Some may not apply to every type of site. They are:
- Shows you as an authority when you show a collective resource of relevant sites
- Build relationships with other sites
- Potential return links as a thank you
- It looks natural - how many sites do you see that don't ever have outbound links? It looks like pure SEO at that point, and not a site that shows value to visitors.
One thing I like to do is link to other sites in my niche, but not competitors. I run a lens comparison site, so instead of linking to 1800 Contacts, I will link to Acuvue.com, or the FDA in regards to safe wearing practices.. They don't actually sell lenses, and it makes sense and benefits my visitors when I link to the manufacturers of the products I list.
If you want to go conservative you can always no-follow the links. I've seen a few sites in the insurance industry that do this, and rank very well.

I read the first point about how beneficial reciprocal linking can be and then stopped reading.
I imagine not as you are 'letting link juice flow away from your site'
The only reason I would suggest outbound links if if you think that it would really benefit your consumer .. or someone is giving you a wad of cash to do so.

If you discount a subscription when the client links to you, does that classify as a paid link?
For example, we all subscribe to MOZ, but if we received a 25% discount on our subscription if we linked back, would that be considered by Google as a paid link, or would it be seen as a sales tool / promotion?

Thoughts on creating a resource/recommend links page in order to attain links?
Hey guys, Just wondering, how does Google view reciprocal link building nowadays? I've heard in the past that it's something that Google isn't particularly keen on. However, more recently, I've also read that - as long as the links are decent (and in moderation) - link exchanging is by no means a bad thing. The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of creating a "resource/recommended links page" for a client of mine. Because of their industry, it's really apparent that attaining links is often only possible if there is the opportunity of a reciprocal link in return. Therefore, I'd need to have a resource/recommend links page of my own. Is this something I should go ahead with to make it much easier to attain links? Or should I try to avoid reciprocal links and attempt to pinpoint one-way linking opportunities - even if they're thin on the ground? Any help much as appreciated as always. Cheers.

Does the twitter link shortening service reduce link value (strength).
We have many SEO team members that use Twitters link shortening service, will this reduce the strength or value of the page to be indexed? I ask this cause the displayed URL isn't the actual page it is going to and would like to make appropriate changes to improve our company's SEO For example: http://t.co/zHu8vIcjPx is going to page http://4wheelonline.com/atv/QuadBoss.107503 Thank you for your assistance.

Do No follow links from social media platforms transfer authority or value when they link to third party websites?
With social media playing a bigger role in SEO (since the Panda, Penguin updates etc) and how search engines rank sites now, does anybody know why Twitter for instance has 'no follow' when I check my client's websites under 'inbound links' on Open Site Explorer?

Links on the same keyword
When is linking from one particular keyword to much. At what point could link building from one keyword be considered spam and potentially delist a site ? Is it possible for a site to be delisted for having to many links from the same keyword ? Heard linking from the website name is more important following recent changes. I try and link from a selection of 3 to 4 keywords. Thanks for your help
