SEO value to Reddit backlinks?

Can someone point me to an authoritative article on the value of Reddit links? I'm trying to determine if it's something we want to put effort into doing on a regular basis. Are reddit links followed? It seems like some are and some are not.

Is your content something that the Reddit audience would be interested in? If so, put effort into being a part of the community and help push some of your better pieces of content.
If you are only spending time on Reddit to attempt to get some link juice, I think you could put your time to better use to participating on other sites closer to your niche.
Use Reddit for the traffic and potential new customers/subscribers, not the link juice.

From what I can tell, Reddit nofollows links by default and sets them to follow if people vote them up. Any truth to this? I haven't been able to tell what the tipping point is though.

Yeah if you want to pay to advertise on reddit, they are follow. typically they are nofollows.

Purchasing local domains for SEO
Hi, I'm considering buying domains to help build our SEO traffic. But, I'm looking for some advice on whether or not this can hurt us. For example, if our site is www.brandname.com and the site is all about online education, would it beneficial for us to purchase a local domain like education.boston.com and optimize with unique content so we can point back to our own site (if "education boston" is a high volume keyword)? How do you use a blog to help SEO.
Hi, So you launch a blog on your website, fill it with lots of great content and update weekly with more great content. From what I know your looking to gain 2 things! 1. Users linking back to your blog and 2. Sharing the content on social networks. Building up social lists on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc so when you do post something new you have a hub of users to help push your post by sharing it on social networks which should also help to generate more backlinks. Is this the main purpose of a blog for SEO? Would anything else apart from the above effect the SEO for the site? Maybe the freshness of content also has a positive impact! Also if your blog is picking up lots of links, for this example lets say 100 links a month and the rest of the site outside of the blog is picking up 10 a month will the blogs power of picking up links effect the rest of the sites rankings, would you need to anchor text link out of the posts in the blog to make the most out of it? Value of Linkworthy Resource Pages
Suppose you create a great resource that links to the top 50 blogs in your industry. The blogs in your industry love it and many of them link to that page. How valuable are those inbound links? I would think some factors hurting the value of these links are that they are not pointing to an important page on your site like the home page or main category page, and the 50 links on the page dilutes the linkjuice that is passed back to the homepage. Or is the main value in making the domain's link equity stronger?
