The starter crawl is going on 2 days and no results

Does the starter crawl work in the first 30 days?
Mine has been going 2 days and still no results, has finished yet??

This is an older thread, but just making sure you did get your starter crawl and things got squared away for you. It should only take a couple of days. For anyone looking at this thread later for help, feel free to send a note to help@seomoz.org with questions about the starter crawl and they can give you the status on things. Thanks!

How does my competitor website jump from a natural ranking of 10 to 1 in a matter of days?
OK this has really got me baffled, and I really hope the MOZ community can give me the answers I am seeking.... My statements and queries below are my own opinions and thoughts. I am not an experienced SEOer and I am learning all the time, so if I have written something incorrectly, please feel free to correct me 🙂 I have been told that natural rankings take time, and I have read with the recent algorithm changes from Google, that purchased links do not have an effect like they used to. I have also read somewhere that google has clamped down on bogus article writing (MOZ please clarify) But what I am seeking some clarification on is, how does my competitors website, that has had a natural rank of #1 in the past, suddenly drop off; for a lengthy period of time, then suddenly re-appear at #10 on page #1, then some three/four days later, hit #1? I have read that natural rankings are purely natural. I.e. a domain owner cannot pay google to boost their natural ranking. But is this really true? Why is it when I speak to a close colleague of mine in the same industry, he mentions that his maps listing has dropped off, and after making a couple of phone calls to his SEO guys in India, maybe a day or two later, magically his maps re-appear? I really am starting to question is a "natural ranking" really "natural?" I have heard that some of these SEO agencies do have some tools that dramatically effect the natural ranking of a domain. What are these tools?

Predicting Time For Results
Hi Mozzers. My company uses an SEO agency. They are building links from relevant sites but, since hiring them around 9 months ago our SERPs for our important search terms have remained pretty static (dropping slightly). I'm in charge of my company's marketing budget so need to make decisions about ROI when determining where best to invest my resources. It seems to me that it ought to be possible to predict (with a fair degree of accuracy) how long it's likely to take us to move up the SERPs based upon an analysis of our website, link profile and how it's changing over time vs those of our competitors. Unfortunately my SEO agency keeps dodging this question. Am I being unreasonable in expecting this? Is what I've described above even possible? If it is possible what are the factors you would consider when trying to make such a prediction? Thanks for your help David

So What's Up With Those Crappy Search Results?
I used to rank for some keywords now I've been outranked by crappy websites. But what amazes me most is that among the top 10 results for a particular keyphrase, 3 of these results point to websites that are no longer online! Worst than that, these websites have to backlinks! So how come 404 pages / non-existing websites rank higher than I do? Is Google loosing it or are they trying to create so much confusion in the hope that website owners will turn to Adwords?

Why is razorservers.com the #1 result on Google for dedicated server hosting?
Why is razorservers.com the #1 result on Google for dedicated server hosting? The site also ranks well on Google for the keyword dedicated server. It outranks sites with a PageRank of 7 and 100k+ back-links. Thanks

One client - 2 domains / same business - good or bad idea?
This is a follow up to a previous question actually: My client has one domain that has 'hardwood flooring' in it and one that has 'concrete polishing' in it - both services they offer. **Would it be wise (for seo purposes) to have them both point to ONE domain (more general of course) ** **- They only have a few local competitors that aren't doing anything to rank well. ** **- They aren't trying to rank nationally. ** If the smart thing to do is to have them point to one (more general) domain using a 301 direct will there traffic drop significantly? (at least for a short time) Does it matter if they continue to keep the existing domains they are using now on their literature, business cards, etc. and let them continue pointing to the new domain or should they really start promoting the new domain name? (They do NOT want to do this). My only concern is saving them time and money by not having to build links, submit articles, social media, on and on for two different sites OK, that's like 3 questions Thank you VERY much for any thoughts or opinions on the matter! 🙂 Have a great week everybody! Matthew

Quick question about country specific organic results
Do you think that if your website is from your home country. You will rank better for some keyword even when you dont have much page authority when compared to other websites having much higher page authorities from other countries.

Open Site Explorer is not showing dmT. Where do I go to get this metric.
Just trying to understand the video I watched on Link Building w/ Open Site Explorer. I'm not seeing the dmT metric in the live version. Has it been replaced by something else. Or is there someplace else I need to look for it?

How to do this type of listing on Google organic search results?
The typical listing looks like this (as im sure you know): However, one of my competitors has a listing that looks like the following: (http://i.imgur.com/Io1oX.png - link to image if its too small for you to see) How do they do this? Am i right in thinking this is a lot better for SEO because effectively it takes up 3-4 positions on search results? YIHQA.png Io1oX.png Io1oX.png
