Poor rankings in Bing/Yahoo
-
Hello,
A site I'm working on ranks well in Google, but does poorly in Bing/Yahoo. Is there anything I should look at?
Thanks,
-
Thanks for your reply, I'll take a look at the links and see if i can increase the rankings for my websites on Yahoo/Bing.

Dear PLP,
I think that something to be proud of on one level on another of course you want to rank well in everything. If I had any information on your website or it could be something as simple as you are not using the Bing webmaster toolset. here is a link to their toolset and some things that could prevent you from ranking. If you have not interfaced with them very often it could be that you're not even being indexed correctly or at all here is a help form from Bing http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-US/bing/gg132923.aspx I imagine like most web masters you focus on Google as you should. Here is a article from a agency that is recommended by SEOmoz their brilliant http://www.affilorama.com/blog/how-to-rank-highly-in-msns-bing I would not do anything that you believe would ever hurt you or Google rank to rank higher in Yahoo/Bing after the merger they are essentially using the same algorithm and both Yahoo and Bing are not up on things like the anchor text in your links they my opinion have waited for Google to make the breakthroughs and then copied them here is a article on what makes them they're different http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/bing/hh204500.aspx and here certainly last but not least is your thing webmaster account you must set up and verify separately from Google. http://www.bing.com/toolbox/home/ You have to remember to put their site map up on your site as well and just think of them as Google 2 years ago on page SCO matters more to them I believe as well.
I hope I was of some help to you in this matter. Please let me know if I can be of any more assistance.
Respectfully,
Thomas Von Zickell

Google ranking penalty: Limited to specific pages or complete website?
Hi all, Let's say few pages on the website dropped in the rankings due to poor optimisation of the pages or hit by algo updates. Does Google limits the ranking drop only to these pages or the entire website will have any impact? I mean will this cause ranking drop to the homepage for primary keyword? Will Google pose the penalty to other pages in the website if few pages drop in the rankings. Thanks

Increase of non-relevant back-links drop page ranking?
Hi community, Let's say there is a page with 50 back-links where 40 are non-relevant back-links and only 10 are relevant in-terms of content around the link, etc....Will these non-relevant back-links impact the ranking of the page by diluting the back-link profile? Thanks

Why does this website rank so well?
We've just taken on a new client who wants to rank well for 'Emergency dentist' related keywords in the London area and they have identified a website that they would like to compete with rankings wise. www.valedental.com I've done a backlink analysis with Open Site explorer and it says that the domain only has 2 inbound links? I've also done a who-is lookup and the domain was only registered in December 2012. Any idea why it is ranking so well for 'emergency dentist' 'emergency dentists' 'emergency dentist london' 'dental emergencies' (when searched for in the london area) thanks in advance for any help Marcus

Rankings fluctuating by around 10 pages between night and day
Hi all, I'm experiencing something very odd with my website ranking at the moment. My homepage is fluctuating in rank for my main keyword by 10 pages every day and night. So, during the day i am on page 14, 15 or 16 for my main keyword yet by night i am on page 5 or 6. This trend has continued for the past 7 days now and i can't quite understand why this is. I'm using pagewash dot net to carry out manual searches and a ranking tool - both of which produce exactly the same result. Does anyone have any experience of this or why this is happening? My domain is around 8 years old and has around 50,000 pages. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Google dance/over optimized/paranoid?
Hi guys, hope your all OK and thanks in advance for taking a nosey at this. OK where to start - my rankings for the last 12 months have progressively improved every week, usually of the 300 KWs i track the last few months has seen approx 70 up/70down per week, but the improvements usually outweigh the declines. This week I saw a sudden drop though - 35 improvements and 112 declines. The strange thing was though, the improvements came on the more competitive KWs, and the less competitive words I haven't done much or any back linking for dropped. Seems silly me asking this question when I run that through my head ofcouse KWs you don;t work on will drop like flies? It should be plainly obvious those words would drop off but all have been improving on there own slowly over the last 6/7 months. Now if this was a penalty (nothing showing in webmaster tools) I would have expected it to come through on my KWs I have over done the backlinking for, but these are the 1's that improved. So is it just the Google Dance? I normally see some words such as the big 1 we target DJ Equipment go from position 13 - 24 can change hourly sometimes! Could it just be quite a few have dropped all at once and will pop back up this week? Also if anyone could give us any pointers in general on where you think we should be taking our SEO it would be much appreciated. I know we have been a little lazy with our backlinking and could do with some much better/ industry related websites linking to us, and there are title tags/metas on product page that need sorting.. aside these couple of issue's? DJs Only

Another Domain ranking instead of my Domain
Hi My Domain name is Replicahause.net, 2 weeks ago my server had an outage for 3 days and my rankings dissappeared in google entirely, however i also noticed that when i typed in my domain name "replicahause" or "replicahause.net" , i would see abhishekyadav.com appearing on #1 in google which does a 301 into Replicahause.net I was able to convince the owner of Abhishekyadav to remove the 301 but my site Replicahause.net's Rankings still does not appear to have come back to google, is there something i'm missing here ? We were ranked #1 to #10 for at least 40 keywords, they've just seemed to dissappeard after the server downtime we had and the 301 from AbhishekYadav.com Thanks
