Duplicate page title on blog
-
Is this something I should b concerned about? I get about 6 posts per page with unique titles - however the title per page is not unique. Is this important?

Hi Martin,
I have the same problem on my site, Could you please tell me how you got this fixed in Drupal? Thanks,
Nick -
Thanks guys
I got the rel='next' and rel='prev' added to blog pages. I assume I don't need to worry about these pages showing up with Duplicate Page Titels:

Hi Martin
Adam's pretty much got it - rel next/prev would take care of it (that's what Yoast's SEO plugin for WordPress does).
Only other option might be to noindex page 2, 3, 4 etc with a robots noindex meta tag. This would have only the first page indexed. Its another common solution.
As far as how to do this in Drupal, I'm not experienced with that platform, so not sure - but those are the two best solutions you'd want to use.

Thanks Adam
I'm new to Drupal and I'm not sure how to set up the rel='next' and rel='prev', I'll try to find out to avoid the duplication being returned.
Thanks

As I said below, you do not need unique titles for these pages. When using pagination on a blog i.e. blog?page=4 and blog?page=5 you cannot avoid having the same page titles. Yes you should have unique page titles wherever possible but this is a case where it is not.
Again, you should make sure to use rel="next" and rel="prev" which you can find out more information about in the link I provided.

Hey Ryan
Here's an example:
http://www.martinspencephotography.co.uk/blog?page=4
http://www.martinspencephotography.co.uk/blog?page=5
etc.
Any ideas how to give a unique page title to those pages?
Thanks
M

This is not a major issue as long as you include the rel="next" and rel="prev" for the paginated content.
You can read more about this at Google here:

Hey Martin,
You want to have a unique page title and description for every page on your site. If you could provide a link to the site, that way we can look at it.

How much duplicate content counts as duplicate content to Google?
Hi everyone! I've had a look through some duplicate content posts and I can't see the answer to this query, so I thought I'd ask in case someone could help. I've been looking at a website that competes with the site that I work on. They have profile pages containing content that has been copied and pasted straight from the suppliers' websites. Their pages have all their own code framing the content, which is diluting the concentration of duplicate copy. How much duplicate content can a page have before it gets penalised or ignored by Google? Any suggestions very gratefully received 🐵

What is your take on using Google images for blogs
In your opinion, do you think it is okay to use Google images for your blog posts as long as it credits or includes a link to the site in which you located it? We tried looking at stock art for some license-free photos and had no luck in coming up with good pictures. What rules or guidelines do you follow when looking for pictures for your customers blog (or your own)? A lot of our posts have to do with "what to do in this city" or "Where to go in this city". Do you think it's okay to use Google images for these types of posts?

301 Redirect & Duplicate Content
We currently have 16465 audiobook products presented at our Web store. 5411 of them are out-of-publication (OOP). Here's an example: Harry Potter Audiobook 2 : Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - J.K. Rowling - cassette audiobook Many of the 5411 OOP products are duplicates and triplicates of one title but were offered on a different medium (cassette, CD or MP3 CD) or were a different type (abridged, unabridged, dramatized). The description (story-line) is the same for all. Because we know once a page gets on the Internet, it can live there for years, we decided to keep OOP product pages at our Web store to: Let those who may have searched for the product and clicked on a link to an OOP product's page that it was no longer available. Invite them to explore our Web store. Let them know that although the product may not be available on cassette, CD or MP3 CD, that it might be available as a digital download. We know that Google does NOT like duplicate content from one site to another and even within the same site. If we redirect all the 5411 pages to one OOP page, will this eliminate this duplicate content issue? The OOP page would explain that the title they were looking for is no longer available but that it might be available as a digital download.

Company Blog Killing our Rankings?
Our product is organic, eco, natural etc. Our blog covers organic, eco, natural culture. Sounds like a winner right? But what if we sold jars and our blog rarely talked about jars because jars are Boring? In webmaster tools, our keyword significance for the word organic is ranked 1st but for the word jars we're ranked 41st . Should i be placing our blog on a subdomain to make sure Google starts placing more emphasis on our jars? ie content on our site rather than content on our blog?

Second Blog on the Same Site? Best SEO Practice
I would like to start up another blog which has more of a "technical" topic coverage vs my regular blog, which appeals more to non-techie business folks. If the goal is to drive traffic ultimately to the main site, should I do this second blog on a different domain, a subdomain, or try to incorporate it as a separate-but-equal blog on the same domain as the currrent one? What would you do?
