FAQ page to target "long tail keywords".
-
I'm wondering if there is any benefit to creating a FAQ section on a website for the purpose of ranking for long tail keywords. If so, are there best practices in the way that the page is structured?
Also, would doing this just help me rank the FAQ page for these terms or would it also help more critical pages on my website, such as homepage, contact, about, etc... which do not contain these keywords.

I have always had mixed feelings about FAQ pages. On one hand I do sometimes try to find them to use when I'm searching although I feel that if I need a FAQ page I haven't adequately provided what my user is looking for on the other pages.
I like the idea of using landing pages and just distributing out the content in logical areas of the site verses putting all this somewhat valuable content on one page.
As far as helping other pages, if you are getting links to the page it will help but otherwise not so much.

Of course there is benefit in ranking for long tail keywords.
However, you have to consider that you are essentially making the FAQ page a landing page. If someone lands on a FAQ page - unless it is very well structured and contains highly relevant information, there's going to be a lot of bounces from that page compared to traditional landing pages on your site.
My advice? Create dedicated landing pages where each target segments of information that you want to rank for. Thus, you'll be creating more relevant pages for each search query. On each of these pages have a clearly definable path for visitors to then proceed through to other areas of your site. You'll get less bounce rate, and visitors will more likely be directed to any subsequent pages on your site (i.e. directed to where you want them to go).

I don't think so , but specific landing pages targeted for those keywords with " relevant " content is the way to go

Over Optimised Magento Pages
We are working on a clients Magento site and we've added new copy which has a decent keyword density which is in line with best practice. When we run it through Moz we are getting a Key Word Stuffing alert saying the page has 27 keywords, where we can only see about 11. This is the page https://www.greatbeanbags.com/bean-bag-cushions The client is pushing back saying the page must have already been optimised before as our new copy has triggered the stuffing alert. But my guess is the page was already stuffed but buy some Magento code we can't see. Any ideas? #magento #Keyworddensity

Traffic to blog home page is going down after changing my WordPress Theme
I recently changed my wordpress theme from a standard free theme to a newer theme. The home page I switched up a bit adding more calls to action to some of our top posts and leading people to popular categories and so on. This greatly improved the usability of our site as it allowed us to highlight new posts. The previous free template simply listed 10 of our most recent posts on a page with small snippets and then you had to move to the next page to keep reading. Since switching my theme the blog traffic has stayed relatively level. That being said, the specific posts traffic is going up a lot whereas the organic traffic to the blog homepage is now nearly depleted. Is this a common thing to happen or is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

Creating a Landing Page
Ok, ,quick question. A client is launching a new product. Would you recommend creating a landing page (off main domain) such as: productname.com ---- and this page would have product information and would be a landing page for a possible PPC campaign. A link would be included to their main website to purchase product. or would you include the new product on their main website (companysite.com) in the appropriate product category? Is there any benefits to having it on it's own domain? SEO benefits?

Do I really need a "Blog"?
Hello Moz community, I have a question about creating content on a new website that we just launched. Do we really need an area called a "Blog"? It's a financial website and the network admins have some security concerns about placing a blogging application such as Wordpress on the server because of PCI regulations. Can an area such as one called "Resources" where you list articles or posts be just as effective as a "blog"?

How "much" schema.org is "too much"?
In terms of adding schema.org information to web pages, how critical is it for SERP? Can anyone recommend a model of what to tag? For example, on a single blog post I could tag the "article" and the "author", but I could also tag the logo that's in the header on every page. How much is "enough"? What is the relationship between schema.org and rel="author" tags? Thank you!

Best way to publish FAQs to capture long tail traffic?
If you want to target long tail traffic from commonly asked questions what is the best way to publish answers to these questions? A really long FAQ page, a new page for each question in a /faq/ subfolder, adding them to relevant product pages that already exist? Is creating a new page for each question a problem because the answer might be a paragraph and Google doesn't like thin content?

What keywords should i target
Hi, we are having a re-launch of our online lifestyle magazine and i am wanting to know if anyone on here reads lifestyle magazines and if so, what keywords should i be targeting to drive traffic to our magazine. I would like to know what sections you would expect to see in a lifestyle magazine as this would help me determine the keywords. I would also like to know if you were looking to read a lifestyle magazine online what would you put into the search engines, besides the word lifestyle magazine Any help would be great.

Do comments count as page content, as it relates to the length of content on a page?
I understand Google likes long content, and I make all my pages at least 500 words of unique and good content. But there is something I am curious about. Do they also count comments as content? The reason I'm asking is that I'm considering creating a Q&A site, where I'd control the questions, making sure they would be good ones and not duplicates, and then have people add answers. In reality, I'd be populating most the questions as first, and most definitely supplying a very good and long answer to questions. The answers would likely be in the form of comments, with highest ranked answers at top. So, I'm wondering what Google would think of a 100 word question, with a several hundred word answer in a comment, often followed by some other comments after that. Would it be a 100 word page or a 500+ word page?
