Purchased biz with good URL, not sure what to do with it...

First, thanks in advance for any help I can get with this one. My company leads guided hiking tours in national parks all over the West. We purchased a company with a fantastic URL that focuses on our our top revenue-producing park, and they've been in business for more than 14 years, and have had that URL the whole time. Their site is horribly designed and optimized, but they do well anyways. We are absorbing his business into ours for other reasons, but keeping the name as a DBA.
I was originally planning on redesigning and optimizing the site, so we'd have 2 websites out there directing people to us. But I'm beginning to learn that's maybe not smart, even if the content is original.
So should I
1. continue with a redesign of his site and have 2 sites out there. If so, what's the minimum % of duplicate content I should shoot for?
2. do a 301 redirect to my main website - would that even help or would it nullify the benefits completely?

Even so, a duplicate content reader is saying there's 30% duplicate.
I would not worry about that at all.

The reason I asked about the duplicate content is that the hikes we offer in this park will be on both sites, so there will inherently be some overlap of content. I've actually already created the new site and wrote the content from scratch. Even so, a duplicate content reader is saying there's 30% duplicate. Thought? Thanks!

I would take this route. Fantastic URL.... long reputation.... ranks pretty well... you are doing a DBA.... No brainer to me.... allow it to stand with upgraded design, better optimization.

huh? minimum?
Both of these sites should be absolutely 100% unique.

301 redirects for all urls - legal dispute
The website in question is a very high traffic website with substantial credibility in it's subject matter (sorry, can't share more details) that delivers an overwhelming majority of traffic from SEO, much of which is new visitors. A legal dispute has resulted in both parties agreeing to forward a percentage of the total URLs to alternative websites (only 1 website for each party). All URLs for the domain will be forwarded elsewhere. It does not make sense to me that the "sum of the parts" will be as strong once the redirects are implemented but I am looking for feedback. It is fair to say that the alternative domains of each party are no where near as strong as the domain being "parted out." Will the SEO juice be distributed to each domain in full? Will both parties lose out substantially? Feel free to ask for clarifications and I'll do the best I can given the legal parameters. Thanks.

How to add 301 for many urls
Hi I need to redirect many urls in a website and I was wondering if instead of doing it one by one there is a way to get it the other way round.... Redirect all pages but a few. I get a feeling this is not possible, but prefer asking just in case. Thanks for any feedback

I've never seen this before. Value of having a good crawl budget?
Hi, I've seen several questions where people give advice on how to increase the crawl budget. What I haven't seen anyone comment is what the value of this really is if you have many pages that doesn't get updated very often. Take for example the typical agency page - 50 pages, most of them rarely gets updates. In a monthly basis normally 10% of the website gets updated. Is there really any value then of having 100% of the website crawled on a daily basis?

Not sure to see the real value of SeoMoz!
Still one week left for my trial. I did not get the result I wanted to have on my ranking, I know it takes time and patience to get there. Even if I consider myself as tech savvy, I have the impression that even if you have the best tools to monitor what is going on that you still have to spend to much time to get better ranking. I would prefer to give the contract to someone else rather than spending time trying to figure out what is going on. I am in some sort of a catch22. I need to increase my ranking, I know my competitors have more backlinks then I can possibly reach ( we have 55 and they have around to 78000). I am wondering how they got all these backlinks in just 2 years. We've been in business much longer.. I could confirmed that my On-page SEO is very good, it's really on my backlinks that I have problems. I see already some of you saying that I have to create rich content, but for a B2B companiy, it's not as easy to generate the proper content and get the backlinks needed. Is there a very quick way to increase backlinks very quickly ?
