Press Release Question.

We do many Press Releases for many clients and it is recommended to have an about us at the bottom of each Press Release...
If we have 200 words at the bottom of each Press Release that we submit to PRWeb should we change them up so they look unique? Will this be considered duplicate content if we leave the bottom section of our PR's identical?

Very interesting question Donnie. Although pretty simple, it's a little complex at the same time.
Here's what I am thinking: It does make sense to have it unique on every PR, somewhat related to the theme of your PR. However, it's an about us...not about the PR. I think although right from the SEO perspective, it might not be 100% right from a PR/business standpoint.
My mind is also relating this to the fact that if we have a header and footer on every page, it's the same/duplicate content. Should that not be unique then ? I think Google is way past these things. Google understands what duplicate content is (to a very great extent) and I would not worry about it if you are doing less then 10 press releases a year. However, if you are doing something like 1 press release every week for the client, then it might make sense to have a relatively unique copy written.
But before you decide, I suggest you discuss it with a PR professional. Sometimes, for us, it get's difficult to think outside the box (SEO Box :).

Question about region codes and Hreflang?
A client (see example above) has accidentally place region codes into the hreflang when the content is intended for all audiences that speak the language. So "fr-fr" should really just be "fr" since those that are "fr-be", "fr-ca", and "fr-ch" should all be getting to the French version of the website too. And there isn't a specific subdirectory for French speakers in Belgium or France or Switzerland, etc. However, when looking at Google Analytics, these region codes don't seem to be stopping those from other regions from getting to the correct landing page. Dynamic referenced canonical pages based on IP region and link equity question
Hi all, My website uses relative URLs that has PHP to read a users IP address, and update the page's referenced canonical tag to an region specific absolute URL for ranking / search results. E.g. www.example.com/category/product - relative URL referenced for internal links / external linkbuilding If a US IP address hits this link, the URL is the same, but canonicalisation is updated in the source to reference www.example.com**/us/**category/product, so all ranking considerations are pointed to that page instead. None of these region specific pages are actually used internally within the site. This decision was done so external links / blog content would fit a user no matter where they were coming from. I'm assuming this is an issue in trying to pass link equity with Googlebot, because it is splitting the strength between different absolute canonical pages depending on what IP it's using to crawl said links (as the relative URL will dynamically alter the canonical reference which is what ranking in SERPs) Any assistance or information no matter how small would be invaluable. Questions about Event Calendar Format and Duplicate Content
Hi there: We maintain a calendar of digital events and conferences on our website here: https://splatworld.tv/events/ . We're trying to add as many events as we can and I'm wondering about the descriptions of each. We're pulling them from the conference websites, mostly, but I'm worried about the scraped content creating duplicate content issues. I've also noticed that most calendars of this type which rank well are not including actual event descriptions, but rather just names, locations and a link out to the conference website. Hypothetical SEO Question
I am running a website for a law firm. It has been running for many, many years and has plenty of backlinks and authority. I then create a standalone website for a specific type of case that the law firm is handling. On that website, I have a page that copies some of the attorney bio text from the main website. How much of a negative impact will this standalone website have on the main website as far as duplicate content issues are concerned? Please explain your answer in detail. Thank you in advance.

Newly Acquired Website--Questions on Changing Permalink Structure
I just acquired a new website. The domain is about 7 years old with around 1000 indexed pages in google. Decent domain authority at 34, PR 4, a lot of inbound links. The thing that's driving me crazy is the permalink structure--set up as month/post name in wordpress http://xxxxxxx.com/2015/01/sample-post/ Based on my experience and I could be wrong, but I would think that the structure would be more effective with just post name and no date. Am I absolutely insane at this point to try and change it?

[Need advice!] A particular question about a subdomain to subfolder switch
Hello Moz Community! I really was hoping to get your help on a issue that is bothering me for a while now. I know there is a lot of about this topic but I couldn’t find a good answer for my particular question. We are running several web applications that are similar but are also different from each other. Right now, each one has its own subdomain (which was mainly due to technical reasons). Like this: webapp1.rootdomain.com, webapp2.rootdomain.com etc. Our root domain currently points with 301 to webapp1.rootdomain.com. Now, we are thinking about making two changes: changing to a subfolder level like this: rootdomain.com/webapp1 , rootdomain.com/webapp2 etc. Changing our rootdomain to a landing page (lisitng all the apps) and take out the 301 to webapp1 We want to do these changes mainly for SEO reasons. I know that the advantages are not so clear between subdomain/subfolder but we think it could be the right way to go to push the root domain and profit more from juice passing to the different apps. The problem is that we had a bad experience when we first switched from our first wep app (rootdomain.com) to an subdomain (webapp1.rootdomain.com) to set them equal with the other apps. Our traffic dropped a lot and it took us 6 weeks to get back on the same level as before. Maybe it was the 301 not passing all juice or maybe it was the switch to the subdomain. We are not sure. So, I guess my question is do you think it is the right thing to do for web apps to go with subfolders to pass more juice from root to subfolders? Will it bring again huge drops in traffic once we make that change? Is it worth taking that risk or initial drop because it will pay off in the future? Thanks a lot in advance! Looking to increase the quality of our backlinks with a press release: Business wire or Prweb?
Hello all! We are looking to increase the quality of backlinks to our new website www.unitedfitnessmarketing.com and wondering which service would be more beneficial. Care to share any preferences or advice? We have been live for about 3 1/2 months now. We are in a tough niche to find related backlinking websites. We are in the health club marketing consulting field. I just paid for a business.com listing but was thinking a quality press release would give me more juice. My competitors have used free press release services so I'm thinking I could easily one-up them and gain some ground in the rankings. Leaning more towards business wire b/c it's a berkshire hathaway company but would like more input. Thanks!
